Sours Garage (at 301 North Main Street in Chatham, Pittsylvania County, Virginia) is on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built circa 1925. It is not longer is use but shows an early service station. It’s at the junction of two major roads and is trapezoid shaped with a gable roof porte-cochere across the front, which would have allowed access from both directions as well as some protection from inclement weather. The roof is supported by brick piers. The white painted brick building still has the original wood storefront and exposed rafters of the filling station area. An extension at the rear is made of concrete blocks. It may have been used one time as a cannery.

The Virginia Department of Historic Resources file number is #187-5001. It’s one of 188 buildings of the Chatham Historic District listed on NRHP July 13, 2001, reference ID #01000698.

Exposed on Eastman Vision3 250D using a Canon EOS 300 + 100/2.8 macro lens; developed in Cinestill’s liquid C-41 kit.

This wall is in the entry way/gallery space....this advertisement painting was exposed after some of the demolition. It's a furniture store advertisement from, we guess, the 40's or 50's. Apparently, the buidling housed a furniture store at that time..(oh, and the pinata is a prop from the wedding reception!).

MacBook Pro 15", Core 2 Duo 2.2, 4gb... CMD+A, CMD+O in Applications lol

Home Theater equipment. Backside wiring. The front of the equipment faces the couch for control, but this leaves the ugly backside wiring visible. Need to add iPod Video and laptop input as well. The plan is to move it to whole coffee table to the wall and move the projector to the wall above the couch where the dog is laying. You gotta love the way I got that center channel speaker zip tied to the frame of the coffee table! That's a UPS battery backup hanging on the end to keep the projector bulb from going dark without proper cooling if the power goes out unexpectedly. Bulbs are $200 to replace, so I wasn't taking any chances. I got a LOT more cavalier about my projectors the longer I had them. This is the HD Benq PB7200. I started with an XVGA PB6200 which also served me well. Both have ran their bulbs to the end of their life cycles now and I am considering an LED projector replacement instead of buying a new bulb.

Horrible time for a suit malfuction

Another of Bruce's dad's old cameras. This is a Franka Solida II from the 1950s. Each of his parents had one. See below for a profile shot of it.

Summer loved living on the edge of town. What she didn't like was having to walk through the WIDE OPEN spaces to get to the market.

Sunset on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica

I only changed the exposure... and I quite like the result.

“Roma Memories 1930-1950” exposes pictures of gypsies who tell about they’re persecution in the Europe of the Second World War. I wanted to approach they’re story in intimacy, evanescence of they’re memories, hurting for the individual but essential to humanity and History.

At 10 years old, I visited the Mauthausen concentration camp in Austria, it was spring and the sun was glittering and the nearby camps where surrounded by flowers. The contradiction was astonishing, life and death, present and past lived together in this sinister place.

In my photographical “demarche” I search the way of capturing the instant of this contradiction, where life and death, passed and present find themselves together again. Trying to understand contradictions of the past, can help us understand the ones of our present. Surrounded by they’re families, in this instant of testimony, witnesses are also part in the transmission over younger generations.

It was a great privilege for me to accompany these men and women in these intimate and painful moments. I hope, thanks to my work, to give them homage in the most simple and intense way as possible, like simple and intense has been our meeting.
