A detailed close-up shot captures a cluster of dark purple, almost black, berries of common ivy (Hedera helix) against a blurred background of vibrant green ivy leaves. The round berries are prominently featured, showcasing their texture and color, while the distinctive lobed leaves frame the composition. The natural light highlights the details of the plant, suggesting a sunny outdoor setting.

Hoopoe was nesting in an old stone building.
Ode to the West Wind ( extract)
Far on the wide Hungarian plains the Hoopoe waves his tawny crest
But not at us, the wind - remains perpetually West.
Huge flocks of Phalaropes , Cranes and Ortolans with reddish breast speed south, unseen.
The wind remains, Inexorably West.

I came across this giant in the last minutes of my snorkel session. Look at his eye. He's checking me out and calculating his response. My larger size likely helped him decide to tolerate my gestures.
Note: No person is holding this fish by the tail, nor was it just released by a fisherman. These are wild fish in their natural habitat. Pike have vampire-like teeth that are very sharp so beware and don't try this, ever.

i actually only photographed this fly because there are no streets here, where i’m on vacation. and what can you do as a street photographer when there are no streets? well, there’s a german saying that goes, “in der not frisst der teufel fliegen,” which translates to “in dire straits, the devil eats flies.” it means that in difficult situations, you have to make do with what’s available. so, you take the lens you usually use for street portraits and start exploring the macro world, perhaps with a slightly different perspective than what is usually seen in the technically demanding field of macro photography. the fly was photographed with a shallow depth of field to create an extreme focus. it wasn’t easy, but i hope you like it.
Free your mind, start dreaming
Let it go, just fly
Watch the stars above us
Create a painted sky
When the music is calling
You can feel the longing
Come on, step into this world
A fairytale untold
So beautiful
Like a magical cosmos
So beautiful
Like a magical cosmos
Cosmos - Armin van Buuren presents Rising Star feat. Alexandra Badoi (translated by Electronic Diversity)
Another shot from earlier in the year at the small fishing lake at the back of the Mill On The Soar, Sutton in the Elms, Leicestershire.
After the sun disappeared below the horizon the sky glowed a lovely rich golden colour and reflected nicely on the calm lake.
