Zon del Barrio was founded by Latin music writer, historian & composer Aurora Flores. Her husband David Fernandez is musical director, arranger, multi-instrumentalist, producer & vocalist. Zon del Barrio is a play on the words "son" a musical genre found throughout Cuba, Dom. Republic & Puerto Rico and Barrio "Zone" where people of color work & struggle hard only to party just as hard. Zon del Barrio debuted in June 2003 at the National Puerto Rican Day Parade with Sammy Rosa as our original, lead vocalist. We continue to forge alliances while training, developing & promoting young talent such as our teenage percussion section known as "LOS Monstritos" w/ Oreste Abrantes on congas, Nelson Matthew Gonzalez on timbales, Kyle Matthews on small percussion & Jason Gonzalez subbing on bongos. Youngblood Jason Gonzalez is a percussion virtuoso who studied with Anthony Carillo and is part of the Zon del Barrio offshoot called "Los Monstritos."

"Exploding Hearts" Engagement cake.
Client didnt want the norm, but a more fun and young design, in bright colours.
The top cake is 8 inches Banana cake with white ganache, and base tier is 12 inch caramel mud,torted with a brush of homemade caramel sauce and white choc ganache. This cake weighed over 9 kikos !

After my Cereus cactus gave me it's beautiful flowers it developed these purple fruit. Then I looked one day and the fruit had popped open. I will post a macro next. By the next morning all the seeds were gone. Must have been birds I think!
This climbing rose bush in the courtyard at the Lamberton Conservatory never had more than a dozen or so roses on it at one time. I was excited to see hundreds of blooms on it yesterday.
In this installation the suit was strung so as to simulate a man convulsing backwards into the air wearing stereotypical commuter clothes; a suit and tie with a trilby embellished on top, flying off where his head would be. The piece is intended to express that each individual is complex, not just a commuter who becomes absorbed into a mass.
