I was cleaning out my desk today when I came across probably 50 rolls of expired film.... Made me think back to the beginning of my little business, ordering 100+ rolls at a time, sending them in and crossing my fingers that the exposure was correct and having to wait a week before seeing the results of the photo session. Wow have times changed, in an instant we can see if the exposure is correct, we can enjoy the session right after the client leaves and so on..... I had the box of film in my hand ready to throw it out and I just could not do it, I guess I will hang on to it and see what I can create... It was pretty dark when I took this, I had to shoot at an 800 iso, but I didn't mind the grain (pixels).....

i miss my walks in the forest more than anything. besides the fresh air and exercise that always feel great, they clear my mind, ease my anxiety and make me feel connected to the universe. a walk amongst the trees puts life in perspective.

all our state parks and trails were closed the third week of march.

in the few days before this happened, i went on two super early morning hikes. this is one of them.

Found on the stairs of a very dark local explore, visited with lensflaredave.

Expired Fuji 400 pushed to 800, taken by a Nikon 8008s

=======================

Picture taken with a Hasselblad SWC, made in 1976; Kodak Aerochrome infrarred film, expired at least from 2011; f11 at 1/125 s., with orange filter; developed with the C41 kit by Bellini.

Without a doubt, the most desired and valued emulsion today (and we're talking about expired film since at least 2011 or earlier) is the Kodak Aerochrome. You've probably heard of it by now if you do analog photography. It is a color infrared emulsion, theoretically to be developed as a slide, but it is often more convenient to develop it as a negative with the C41 process, since it is less demanding on a correct exposure (and it is a lot) , especially now that it's expired. Although it rated at ISO 400 for slides, better to expose for ISO 320 as a negative.

It is amazing what you can get out of a film that expired more than 30 years ago. I overexposed it for approximately one stop and left it for one minute longer than necessary in the color developer bath. The digitized negative was "developed" in FilmLab 2.0 software and post-processed with Pixelmator Pro and Aurora HDR 2019.
