This image has nothing to do with the beautiful Goldfinch, it's also a good thing pics don't come with a expiration date. Poking around a bit in the archives, looking for lines and what might catch my eye, I happened to come across this shot from a trip I made to Washington D.C. back in 2012, probably at/near the now closed Newseum building. I selected the color version to composite with the curves of the New York City's Oculus (see first comment) to create the Starfishes Garden. When I was finished I really liked the look and balance of this shot so here it is at last!

There are empty days and others that seem to save moments behind each flutter of time. There are moments pregnant with light and others in which hope frays like an old shroud to which all dreams will die.
Today I caught the heat and the light of the season and my family gave me a love that returned me to the euphoria of everyday things. Although I know of the expiration of feelings and moments, I felt the dark breath of surreal winter bend and a nursery voice, undoubtedly naif, but necessary, shouted from somewhere: "Dreaming is brave". My dream is to recover everyday things

Also called the Chapel of the Expiration, it is located next to the Museum of Fine Arts. It belonged to the convent Casa gran de la Mercè, being ceded to the brotherhood of the Christ of the Expiration, of the guild of silversmiths, in the 16th century. After the confiscation of the convent in the 19th century, the chapel was kept in worship of the holders of this brotherhood. It dates from the end of the 17th century. The cover is simple, with windows on both sides. On the outer wall there is a tile altarpiece, from 1964, with the holders of the Brotherhood, followed by a small access door to the Sacristy.

Early summer scene again in Swaledale. You could make a calendar out of images just by walking a short distance around Muker at this time of year!
By this stage I was hobbling along the road back to the pay and display car park, knowing I would only just make my expiration time if my knee kept going. It was pretty stiff and creaking at this point, so it was an added relief to stop just long enough to take this shot before continuing with the Monty Python silly walk sketch!!
I spend quite a large part of my life choosing, testing and repairing photographic equipment. It takes me much more time than creating pictures..
Once I unwittingly overheard a conversation of men drinking alcohol on the river bank.
They talked about fishing and choosing equipment for this.
One of them had a heavy box of various fishing gear. He showed them with pride, laid out and sorted out ... spinners, wobblers, fishing lines, hooks ...
And the other could boast of nothing but a shovel.
But I remember his words well:
".. there are men's magazines about women,
But sometimes it's just a woman.."
After that He dug up worms and went to fish..)
Nice weather and great photos this weekend for all of us

I had a sore arm and couldn't figure out why. then I went out again this chilly morning and sat down on the landing to throw the ball to Nellie.

so I came in and rearranged the couch covers and picked up the couch corner to straighten out the rug.

I tried to weed and pull brambles again. nellie was literally in my face the whole time waiting for me to throw the ball. it was hot [for me] which gives me nausea and a headache. I came in after just an hour.
wandering downstairs before dinner i carried two glasses and dropped one of them, the glass one. Leon was kind enough to sweep it up for me while I vacuumed. after dinner I carried my drink upstairs and tripped in my birkenstocks, spilled the drink and the ice, landed on my bad knee and scrapped my shin. I didn't realize it was bleeding all over my foot.

reach for the stars.
larger stars are hoya florets, the rest are artifical. I tossed on the latter. that's how they landed.
the florets came from clusters of flowers on one of my hanging hoyas. It's about 5+ feet long and it crashed a couple of nights ago, slipping its hanger. it's heavy. it landed on a chair full of dolls and left a big mess. it is living in my bathtub right now while I figure out how to hang it again. it's in full bloom and smells like heaven. I have two others in my bedroom and several in the greenhouse that I'd like to bring in for the fragrance.

The parish church of Santa María la Mayor is the oldest building in Daimiel, in the province of Ciudad Real (Spain). Its origins date back to the 14th century, although the south façade dates from the 15th century and the tower from the 16th.
Its structure is typical of Gothic churches, although it has been greatly disfigured by successive restorations. It is in the northern part that most of the vestiges from this period are preserved, of which the most notable are its high buttresses topped with spires, as well as the Umbría Gate, consisting of a pointed arch and two simple capitals with plant ornamentation. The other original gate has four columns, with capitals decorated with leaves and fruits. It has been blocked since the construction of the choir and is currently in a very poor state. The other gate, which is now the main one, is called the Sun Gate and consists of a curtained arch, protected by a portico supported by two columns that support the gallery that conceals the original façade of the church.
The interior of the church is divided into three naves supported by four pillars. These are supported by columns that support the transverse and transverse arches. Their capitals appear to represent occult symbols, and some studies even link them to the Templar Order. The most representative are the rabbit, the mermaid, the immutable face, and the serpent. The tower dates much later than the original construction of the church and is made up of several distinct sections. The consecration of the first bells took place on August 4, 1620, and in 1816 the tower suffered serious damage due to a storm and was rebuilt in 1818.
Its altarpieces and the original altar were lost in 1936 during the Civil War. The image of the Most Holy Christ of the Expiration, which was saved from the barbarity of war and is attributed to the school of Alonso Cano, is currently preserved inside.
In the lower choir of the church, there is a tombstone where Joaquín Ibáñez Cuevas, Baron of Eroles, a hero of the War of Independence, was buried in 1825. He died while passing through Daimiel on August 22, 1825.
It was declared a site of cultural interest with the category of monument on September 28, 1989.

The San Michele Cemetery has been Venice’s principal cemetery since its creation in 1807. The cemetery is located on the island of Isola di San Michele between Venice and Murano.
In addition to the main consecrated Catholic burial ground, there are separate Protestant and Eastern Orthodox sections catering to non-Catholics. The Jewish cemetery of Venice is located on the island of Lido. Both the cemetery and the island are named after the church of San Michele in Isola built in the 15th century on the island, dedicated to Saint Michael the Archangel.
Established in 1807, San Michele has been under continuous use as the main burial ground of Venice for over 200 years. Space is tight, and therefore cemetery management puts graves up for lease for 12 years, recycling communal plots following lease expiration by removing skeletal remains to be transferred to an ossuary.
