This is the scene 24 hours before our competition was due. A fire at the university caused a university-wide blackout, leading us to take over a guy's apartment and set up shop. These were the good old days...

Polaroid CP3 Experimental process
Have you ever seen something you have been imagining for days and never spoken of, suddenly represented by another artist in Flickr?? Has it ever happened to you that the type of art you do suddenly appears in your favourite artist or bands´ artwork without them having possibly known? This sort of coincidence is known as Synchronicity but a group of artists and I have been observing the amount of times these coincidences happen. It has happened at least once to almost every person. This is a glimpse of what the scientific term of Collective Unconscious means and how it permeates reality, as science has shown before. The experiment we are about to embark on is based not on promoting synchronistic phenomena but merely on registering each time this happens until we have a large list of these synchronistic phenomena and can find general common factors. There is a place where all thoughts from everyone come together, the place where we dream things that happen or that dont, the place of beauty and art, our dreams. If this has happened to you, you would be helping an ongoing investigation if either you just mentioned it has happened to you (the mere affirmative has statistical value) or you kindly described your case as a comment on this journal. I will let all those who participate know the final result.
2014 November,
My previous, highly expressive painting brought my attention towards the way in which I paint eyes and how it impacts the viewer. From a personal stance, they were not realistic enough and thus incapable of having the results I wished them to have. Because my theme required me to paint the eyes to an extent of realism that emotionally targets the viewer, I felt that some practice was needed. Hence, using a primary photograph of an eye with interesting hues, I created a close-up painting to enhance my skill. Upon close look, I noticed that the human eye holds a lot more detail than I always thought it did, and therefore, it took at least three layers to perfect this painting. I started with the pupil, working the thick strokes of deep black paint and blending it in with a sap-green shade that had a large amount of yellow ochre in it. Normally, I would just paint the eye with two different tones of brown. However, this painting brought to my realization that there are many, many complex tones that exist within the eye, such as yellows, greens, browns, reds, etc. I used blue and white paint to show the reflection of light shining within the eye, and on top of that, using a very fine brush, painted the reflection of the lashes. The pink areas of the eye such as the tear- duct and waterline also required a fair amount of detail, as can be seen by the various different tones of pinks and whites. This experimental piece taught me a lot in terms of detail, tone, and composition, allowing me to heighten my skill when it comes to realism and the eye.
