Students, faculty, staff, and community members gathered in Sustainability Meadow during Sustainability Week 2026, on September 9, to learn about pollinator conservation and the important role honey bees play in local ecosystems. Andy Tuholski, director of the Office of Sustainability, welcomed attendees and highlighted the university's commitment to hands-on, community-centered sustainability initiatives. Campus beekeepers from Shue Bee Farm then led a beekeeping demonstration, giving participants an up-close look at hive management and sustainable agriculture practices from inside a protected observation tent. The event celebrated IU Kokomo's fourth year as a certified Bee Campus and showcased the university's ongoing efforts to promote environmental stewardship, biodiversity, and sustainability education.
