I did quite a bit of tweaking on this head to get it to where I was happy with it but I think I'll still work on it a bit more - I'm not entirely happy with the lips or eye shape yet and it took several tries with appliers to find one which I felt worked well on it. Lake, still my favorite but time will tell.
I first saw one of these cute little cameras at an antiques fair. It was in terrible condition and quite expensive. It's nice to hold - a solid metal body covered in black leatherette.
There are at least three main versions (1930-1934).
A basic camera with a Göerz Frontar lens and a single speed instantaneous shutter. The simplest form has no metal plate on the front. Secondly, there's a version with a hexagon shaped metal plate like the one above, a Göerz Frontar lens, but no other controls on the front.
Then, from 1930, there is this version (much less common) with a better Novar f6.3 triplet lens, an iris diaphragm and Derval shutter.
I found the camera in excellent condition for £25. However, on occasions they are on sale for 5 to 10 times as much. Why? Because their owners describe the camera as being used in the Third Reich by (unnamed) Nazi party members. The power of association...
Camera: Expensive. Objective: More expensive. Standing out there in the high grass at the river, getting eaten by mosquitos: priceless!
Taken on December 28 in Richmond, Indiana which explains the Christmas lights in the store. I wasn't paying attention to what kind of store it was (too busy drooling over the bikes), but I didn't think it was a bike shop.
Now we are getting serious. Both of these bikes are very similar to ones which have been ridden in the Tour de France. I hesitate to guess how much each cost, but I'm pretty sure each was several thousand dollars. Even the wheel at the edge of the show was expensive. Besides even seeing them, I was shocked to see no locks. I know I'd never leave any of my bikes alone for more than a few seconds. I even have periodic dreams of them being stolen. Even around a bike shop, I take them inside with me rather than risking damage or loss.
You know, when I bought the big lens — after years of telling myself it was too expensive — I had no idea I’d wind up using it to shoot flowers and bees.

With CN having blocked up the diamond on NS for a while, the lull in traffic as the northbound in the Tolono siding - a pair of BNSF ACes, nothing special - gave me time to see what was occupying the track in Tolono itself. That turned out to be our roadrailer, NS 255. With their lights on and close proximity to the signals, they were clearly pretty anxious to get moving, but CN would keep them stuck there for another forty minutes or so - time enough for the clouds to clear out, anyway. I've heard it said before that in previous years, every minute of delay on a roadrailer was worth some ludicrous sum of money, like a hundred grand or something. I don't know how accurate that is, but if that was the case here, then boy they sure had a very expensive delay thanks to our Canadian friends.
Since they were sitting still I could try playing with some different angles and such, so off I went doing just that. As always, I wonder what the crew thinks of things like that... must look sorta silly from up in the cab. Ah well, it's fun anyway.

This pistol is one of the more expensive things from ACW, each pistol has to be custom ordered for each customer and is made by the most precise tools and craftsmen. The magazine can hold anywhere from ten to 15 rounds depending on caliber and the grip has removable wooden plates for different configurations.

How much is #Peace actually worth? Pacific Standard of peace is very expensive, and the big numbers involved, and actually priceless!
Cost too much that no one really afford to own it for a long time.
Expensive light.
A night photograph of the Jumeirah hotel to the left and the Burj al Arab. As I understand it, it costs $15,000 a night to stay in the Burj al Arab penthouse suite for one night. I'm still saving.
The hazy pollution was quite bad on this night so it was a struggle to get a clear sky. Apologies folks.
Thanks for looking
at a co-operative's shop up in the Atlas Mountains. The argan oil is made into very expensive soap and cosmetic products / ointments as well as edible butter eaten with bread. Here, these Moroccan women show how the oil is extracted from the fruit.
