The Tüshaus mill is a water mill near Dorsten-Deuten in North Rhine-Westphalia. The mill is located on the southern edge of the forest area of Üfter Mark, where the water of the Hammbach River from Rhade is stowed to the mill pond.

The history of the Tüshaus-Hof, to which the mill belongs, can be traced back to 1382. The lords of Lembeck, who held the water law in their territory, leased a whale mill driven by the water of the Hammbach in 1615 to a certain Mr. Tuschhaus.

However, the mill was not the first building on this site, as it was built on older foundations. Sheep were mainly kept in the extensive heathland surrounding the area. The wool was rolled in the Tüshaus mill by a hammer mill and sold as felt material to the region's cloth makers for further processing. The billing books include customers from Wesel, Recklinghausen, Westerholt, Dülmen, Münster and Dinxperlo.

The mill had already been increased in 1752 and expanded by a second mill wheel, so that since 1754 it also served the tenant Joan-Heinrich Tüshaus as an oil mill. The oil was obtained mainly from the rapeseed and linseed of the surrounding fields. In 1880 Albert Brosthaus was the Ölmüller, followed by Dumpe and Schetter. The old plants of the oil mill were replaced in 1914 by a modern hydraulic oil mill, which pressed the oil out of the seeds with 350 atü. The operation of the oil mill was discontinued around 1948 for economic reasons.

The most serious threat to the continued well-being of the Trumpeter Swan is the loss of habitat resulting from expanding human populations. People are also responsible for accidental deaths, although it is rare for these to have a serious effect on populations, except perhaps on a local scale. Such “accidents” include lead poisoning caused by the ingestion of lead shot in areas that are heavily shot over by hunters; collisions with human-made objects, most notably power transmission lines and other overhead wires; and occasional misidentification and illegal shooting.

Cazorla was a strategic border bastion between the Muslim empire and Christianity during the Reconquest in the Middle Age. It is overlooked by the Castle of Yedra (Castllo de la Yedra), originally a Muslim fortification and then conquered and expanded by the Christian feudal lords. Today, Cazorla is a scenic city that gives access to the impressive natural park of Sierra de Cazorla.

Little Egret - Egretta garzetta

The little egret (Egretta garzetta) is a species of small heron in the family Ardeidae. The genus name comes from the Provençal French Aigrette, egret a diminutive of Aigron, heron. The species epithet garzetta is from the Italian name for this bird, garzetta or sgarzetta.

It is a white bird with a slender black beak, long black legs and, in the western race, yellow feet. As an aquatic bird, it feeds in shallow water and on land, consuming a variety of small creatures. It breeds colonially, often with other species of water birds, making a platform nest of sticks in a tree, bush or reed bed. A clutch of bluish-green eggs is laid and incubated by both parents. The young fledge at about six weeks of age.

Its breeding distribution is in wetlands in warm temperate to tropical parts of Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. A successful colonist, its range has gradually expanded north, with stable and self-sustaining populations now present in the United Kingdom.

It first appeared in the UK in significant numbers in 1989 and first bred in Dorset in 1996

In warmer locations, most birds are permanent residents; northern populations, including many European birds, migrate to Africa and southern Asia to over-winter there. The birds may also wander north in late summer after the breeding season, and their tendency to disperse may have assisted in the recent expansion of the bird's range. At one time common in Western Europe, it was hunted extensively in the 19th century to provide plumes for the decoration of hats and became locally extinct in northwestern Europe and scarce in the south. Around 1950, conservation laws were introduced in southern Europe to protect the species and their numbers began to increase. By the beginning of the 21st century the bird was breeding again in France, the Netherlands, Ireland and Britain. It has also begun to colonise the New World; it was first seen in Barbados in 1954 and first bred there in 1994. The International Union for Conservation of Nature has assessed the bird's global conservation status as being of least concern..

This species was often captured for sale as a pet from the late 1700s to the early 1900s, and probably as a result it became scarce along much of the northern edge of its range. After the cagebird trade was stopped, the Mockingbird again became common in many areas. During recent decades it has expanded its range north, especially in the northeast; its success there may have been partly owing to widespread planting of multiflora rose, a source of favorite berries and good nest sites.

This expanded view was taken during a testsession with my new Sigma ultra wide angle lense. On the edeges I loose a little bit of sharpness but all in all I am quite happy.

The Shiny Cowbird has a very wide and expanding distribution in South America and the Caribbean. A brood parasite, the species lays its eggs in the nests of many species of passerines throughout its range, and provides no parental care for eggs or young. The male is entirely glossy violet blue-black or purplish black. The female dull grayish brown above.

Shiny Cowbirds often ride on the backs of cattle, horses, and sheep while feeding.

In cubistic style

I decided a little while ago to let this be the one place in the world I can let my real feelings out, it's the only place in the world I can just be honest and let out thoughts and feelings that honestly make me feel very vulnerable. I've mentioned before how I always feel alone, but I don't know if I really expanded into it as deeply as I wanted to.

Here's the truth, I am always alone. I'm alone all day long at my work, sitting in my office processing payroll and benefits for people I don't know, dealing with HR for people I feel like because of my job I have to put a wall between so that they feel they can open up to me. I have a husband and a very young daughter, and lord knows without them I wouldn't have anyone to talk to ever. My husband and I despite being good friends have never had much intimacy though, and since my daughter was born it just completely stopped. And when I say stopped I don't mean "once in a while", I mean STOPPED as in never again. I don't want to leave a guy that I've been with since I was a teenager, especially since we now have a 2 year old, but it's hard living with someone that doesn't want you but also doesn't want you to have anyone else either, even if it's just an online hookup with an avatar you don't even know, and even if I'm just talking to a friend, so all my play time is done in private in those few fleeting moments of alone time I get. Imagine living with someone who treats you like you're "one of the bro's" but also gets insanely and intensely jealous of anyone who even speaks to you. The only alone time I get is the time I get at work, and I can't log on from here, so this time I get here on Flickr is, literally, it.

I have one friend who I made in second life back when I played more who I've talked to for over a decade, but he has a girlfriend now so we talk less, and who would I be to cry to him about needing to talk more when I've had my guy all along that's stopped me for sometimes months at a time from talking to him more than I'd like to? My husband knows I've dipped into second life, but never what I did there, never how often I would go, and never understood why I needed it. I have no other friends, it was my only outlet, and now I barely have that.

So now in the times I do get to log in I barely have time to do anything and just find myself alone, hanging out by myself, ALL the time. I sit here alone on top of this building, in a tiny little city I created myself, which is always empty, always just a lonely playground for me to imagine what it'd be like to have the experience in second life that most others have nightly. My computer is old, so pretty much everywhere except here lags so bad for me I barely even try to explore anymore, and so this is my life now, just sitting alone, standing alone, photographing myself and telling stories with the characters I've created that are read by less people than you can count on one hand.

I don't mean this to sound whiny, and I'm so grateful to the people I do speak to, lord knows without them I wouldn't even do this, but I can't help but still just feel so dreadfully alone all the time and if I'm just being fully honest it makes me sad. I want to know more people, and the people I do know I want to know better. I want deeper connections, but these days I'm afraid to even try to form them.

I found second life over 14 years ago and at first it felt like the perfect escape for me, and the perfect way for a loner like me to get to know people but as time went on it became obvious that most people in the game, honestly, just didn't like me. I never got to log on nearly as much as pretty much everyone else and that made me hard to play with. When I would log on I'd be SOOOOOO excited, I'd message people in a flurry, come hang out, let's do something! Whether it was role play, taking photos, or just hanging out I just loved being with people and I loved the attention. This wore down almost every single person I ever met and I could feel them groan on the other side of the screen as soon as they'd see me log in because they knew I was about to annoy them and disrupt whatever they were doing to try to bug them into doing something with me in my hour or two of free time. Even here on flickr I constantly am reaching out to people, messaging people who's photos I like to work with them, and although I've found a few cool people for the most part I know most people just think something's off with me and instantly the wall goes up and the conversation is over.

I had some really fun times in second life but I can't remember the last one being honest, even when I do get pockets of time that last a few hours most people enjoy their routines and I'm just not a part of anyone's. So time and time again, I hang out by myself, or I go shopping, I plan outfits for nights that never come, I look for things to do, look for people to meet, and usually end up logging off after an hour or two because I get tired of being alone. I get so desperate for attention I sometimes just pop into some newb sim and let some random person with a fugly avatar that can barely speak my language play with my avatar for 15 minutes while they play with something else on the other side of the computer and log off after they finish the job. If you've ever wanted to feel a new low in life, try doing that and I guarantee you'll be left wondering how you got where you are now.

I thought flickr could be more fun, I thought maybe working with random photographers would be easier since it takes less time then most other things in second life, I'm even down to let photographers use my avatar during the 99% of the time I'm not online for literally any photos they want! I thought it'd be a cool fun way to get to know people, maybe eventually be able to log on and meet them and shoot with them in person. I'm actually surprised how little people have been interested! A few people have even been rude to me saying I "don't get how photo shoots work", I'm like whoa okay, pretty sure I do but what do I know I guess? I'm definitely not here to fight with anyone, but if people aren't interested I guess that's that right? So if you'd like to work with me, hell, let me know, you can have me any time you like, any way you like, I'm down for literally ANYTHING, I just want to do SOMETHING other then sit on buildings by myself feeling sorry for myself.

And that's me in all my honesty, knowing that 95% of the people who click a photo won't read the words under it anyway, knowing of the maybe 5% that do, that only maybe 1 in 10 of those people will read more then a line or two, knowing that for every thousand views I get on a photo maybe 1 person will read part of this, and knowing because of how long it is that even that 1 person may just skim through it or think "yikes, just another person on second life with major issues". So day in and day out I come on flickr, occasionally post a photo with some thoughts just hoping and waiting to see what people may say to me, and I wait, and wait, and wait, and often times nobody says anything at all. I'll think maybe today will be the day someone talks to me, I get so excited when anyone at all does! How did I get here? I used to be so cool! I try being nice, I try being flirty, I try being funny, I try being as honest as I can, but in the end I usually just feel alone all over again and end up right back where I started sitting alone just wondering what it'd be like to actually know a few people and feel like a few people care.

So if you actually made it through all that without getting scared off by the length of this, or just by who I am, maybe say hi. I promise I'm a lot more chill then this post suggests, after spending a few decades "alone in a crowd" I guess I just finally felt like speaking my mind.

The castle has only been partially rebuilt since its demolition in the 17th and 18th centuries.

The earliest castle structure was built before 1214 and later expanded into two castles circa 1294; however, in 1537, a lightning bolt destroyed the upper castle. The present structures had been expanded by 1650, before damage by later wars and fires. In 1764, another lightning bolt caused a fire which destroyed some rebuilt sections.

Cattle Egret - Bubulcus ibis

The cattle egret (Bubulcus ibis) is a cosmopolitan species of heron (family Ardeidae) found in the tropics, subtropics and warm temperate zones.

It is a white bird adorned with buff plumes in the breeding season. It nests in colonies, usually near bodies of water and often with other wading birds. The nest is a platform of sticks in trees or shrubs. Cattle egrets exploit drier and open habitats more than other heron species. Their feeding habitats include seasonally inundated grasslands, pastures, farmlands, wetlands and rice paddies. They often accompany cattle or other large mammals, catching insect and small vertebrate prey disturbed by these animals. Some populations of the cattle egret are migratory and others show post-breeding dispersal.

The cattle egret has undergone one of the most rapid and wide reaching natural expansions of any bird species. It was originally native to parts of Southern Spain and Portugal, tropical and subtropical Africa and humid tropical and subtropical Asia. In the end of the 19th century it began expanding its range into southern Africa, first breeding in the Cape Province in 1908. Cattle egrets were first sighted in the Americas on the boundary of Guiana and Suriname in 1877, having apparently flown across the Atlantic Ocean. It was not until the 1930s that the species is thought to have become established in that area.

The species first arrived in North America in 1941 (these early sightings were originally dismissed as escapees), bred in Florida in 1953, and spread rapidly, breeding for the first time in Canada in 1962. It is now commonly seen as far west as California. It was first recorded breeding in Cuba in 1957, in Costa Rica in 1958, and in Mexico in 1963, although it was probably established before that. In Europe, the species had historically declined in Spain and Portugal, but in the latter part of the 20th century it expanded back through the Iberian Peninsula, and then began to colonise other parts of Europe; southern France in 1958, northern France in 1981 and Italy in 1985.

Breeding in the United Kingdom was recorded for the first time in 2008 only a year after an influx seen in the previous year. In 2008, cattle egrets were also reported as having moved into Ireland for the first time. This trend has continued and cattle egrets have become more numerous in southern Britain with influxes in some numbers during the non breeding seasons of 2007/08 and 2016/17. They bred in Britain again in 2017, following an influx in the previous winter, and may become established there.

In Australia, the colonisation began in the 1940s, with the species establishing itself in the north and east of the continent. It began to regularly visit New Zealand in the 1960s. Since 1948 the cattle egret has been permanently resident in Israel. Prior to 1948 it was only a winter visitor.

ENGLISH

Aglais io, the European peacock, more commonly known simply as the peacock butterfly, is a colourful butterfly, found in Europe and temperate Asia as far east as Japan. It was formerly classified as the only member of the genus Inachis (the name is derived from Greek mythology, meaning Io, the daughter of It should not be confused or classified with the "American peacocks" in the genus Anartia; while belonging to the same family as the European peacock, Nymphalidae, the American peacocks are not close relatives of the Eurasian species. The peacock butterfly is resident in much of its range, often wintering in buildings or trees. It therefore often appears quite early in spring. The peacock butterfly has figured in research in which the role of eyespots as an anti-predator mechanism has been investigated. The peacock is expanding its range and is not known to be threatened.

Taken in my garden this morning

One of my early digital shots.

The original of this pic was so blown out (I was still getting used to this new fangled digital thang) that I couldn't get anything natural out of it.

So, I went the other way and expanded on it. Blowing it out and increasing contrast even more.
