In Australia's north plants like this exotic beehive ginger native to SE Asia grow well in our tropical conditions as long as they have plenty of water. This one is (I think) Zingiber spectabile, growing in a garden near Katherine in the Top End of the Northern Territory.
Sincere thanks for visiting my Australian nature offerings!

I love to have dolls with a variety of hairstyles in my collection and given that I also have a sort of 'two dolls per sculpt' rule (which is more often broken than adhered to but it is a kind of 'guiding principle ;-)) Dominique Evening Blossom was my first choice to represent this sculpt in my collection and I still think she is one of the best!
I have been inspired in her styling by the fabulous Style Lab outfits from the Luxe Life Convention, in particular the Remix outfit. Dominique has been rebodied on a NuFace Latino skin tone body which I actually think is a much better skin tone match for her than her original Light Honey body (which she donated to Amelie ;-))
Dominique wears:
Annik Pop of Color shorts
Color Infusion Jacket from the Gloss ? Convention 2014
Mad Love Rayna stockings
Older Nu face or FR (?) shoes
Taken at the Festival Of Flowers!
I've not a clue as to what this flower is, but, it was amazing!
Promise to catch up tomorrow! More rain on the way! I think we've had our fill!
Today's prompt was Exotic. We don't get many exotic flowers in Scotland, and that applies to Bird of Paradise plants, but I found one in a photo I took in Fuerteventura.

The Latin Quarter on the Left Bank has a several-block area of wall-to-wall ethnic restaurants. The area becomes very lively after dark, and the aromas from the restaurants are very deliciously enticing.
The Maison de Gyros looked like a very nice restuarant, but there is something about their menu that is a little disconcerting. I supposed I could have tried the Ass. Steak (but I didn't). ; -))

This flower is known as Leucospermum (Pincushion Protea) in the scientific world. It is part of the Proteaceae family. In addition, this family of plants has over 100 species. This diverse family includes trees, and shrubs. Moreover, majority of these species can be found in South Africa. The climate in SA is perfect to grow these delicate and intricate flowers. They are really unique.
I like these exotic flowers and have made already some flower arrangements with them. They do last quite long in a vase… or in floral foam up to 2 – 3 weeks.

Tastes like chicken
The craziest animal I’ve ever eaten was alligator. It was deep fried and, honestly, tasted like chicken.
They say all exotic meats “taste like chicken.” But what if you don’t even like chicken? Unfortunately, I eat a lot of chicken because it’s easy and I’m lazy.

Welcome to the jungle
Maybe it’s the cold weather, but I’m currently obsessed with turning my house into a hothouse. My indoor plant collection has doubled, tripled, quadrupled in the last few weeks.
After another frustrating trip to the indoor plant section at Home Depot, I scouted a houseplant store today. Unfortunately, there was not much more variety and the plants were triple what I expected to pay. I went home determined to propagate a few I already have (like string of pearls) and regularly check the big box and grocery stores for some of my desired additions.

I have more testimonials to write. Thank you for your patience.
Saw this very large terrapin in the fens yesterday, is it a red-eared slider Trachemys scripta elegans? Looked around the size of a dinner plate; presumably someone's abandoned pet...
There are many special wildlife sights in Australia's Wet Tropics World Heritage Area, and this ranks very high among those sights for me. The exotic vigorous courtship display of the male Victoria's Riflebird, Ptiloris victoriae, is such a privilege to witness. Metallic highlights shimmer among the black plumage as his wings spread high and wide. Will she be impressed?
This isn't the more densely black shot I've taken of this bird many times before, but this one shows me details I've not seen before in the way his plumage moves during this display. The more I look at this shot the more I wonder if this is in fact a male that has NEARLY reached full adult plumage. From my research this occurs between 5 and 7 years old.

Lake Ontario's water level is quite high this spring, so much that the beach is completely gone and the piers are closed in Port Dalhousie.
