well...60% proof of existence

WARNING - This book may increase your propensity to burn money.

Prior to the existence of The Money Burner's Manual there were no mass ritualized money burnings. Since the first 23 copies of the first edition were given away, there have been (as of May 2017) three public burns where £1000's have gone up in smoke. Why didn't they give it to Charity? Why didn't they give it to me? The Manual explains why ritual sacrifice is the ultimate moral and spiritual action and why money makes the perfect sacrificial victim.

The Money Burner's Manual is both invocation and treatise. The conscious sacrificial act of money burning is the axis upon which the author's life turns. The *doing* of nothing - the deliberate creation of nothing from something - resets our connection with reality at some otherwise unknowable metaphysical substrata. It is not so much that this has direct effects, more that it simply changes everything and throws off a clustering of synchronicitious events around each re-enactment. The in-depth academic consideration of what money is and how 'economic thought' pervades knowledge, serves to provide the reader both with intellectual rigor and, perhaps more importantly, something to hold onto once the magic starts to happen.

The Money Burner's Manual promises you absolutely NOTHING. Or, at least, as close to absolute nothingness as you can get. By taking apart the symbolism and meaning of the money burning taboo, the Manual seeks to give the reader a new understanding of NOTHINGNESS - the ultimate reality. Key here is to acknowledge, in the words of Georges Bataille, that sovereignty is NOTHING; that everything you feel and know at your most intimate level of being, was born of nothing and will return to nothing. Making *an experience* of nothingness (i.e. money burning) the central ritual of your life is about connecting yourself to the totality of existence.

There is reflexive relation between what *is* Divine or sacred and what we *believe to be* Divine or sacred. We must awaken ourselves to this relationship. All Hail, The Staff!

I was pumping gas and, looking at this row of dismal topiary, I was struck with thought: is this it? The fabric of memory, the structure of existence, the progression of time? What has my life come to, and where is it headed?

The Self Design Academy

18 September - 22 November

From self-malleability and self-realisation to selfcare and self-reliance, a good life seems to begin and end with a well-functioning self. A flourishing self-help industry is more than happy to assist us with books, workshops, courses and inspirational quotes. At the same time, our existence is determined by hyperrealities like climate change, mass migration, big data, and now a pandemic, that we as individuals can’t comprehend, leave alone influence. But can we at least try to understand our self? Can we start at a small level, with the I?

In The Self Design Academy, a joint initiative of MU and Image Society, 18 artists and designers together with the visitors investigate how we can define, understand and design ourselves. Inspired by Mieke Gerritzen’s upcoming book Help Your Self about the ever-increasing popularity of the self-help industry, we focus on the creative strategies and techniques we can develop ourselves, and how to share these with others. At the same time, the Academy is a place of critical reflection on the malleability of the self. Is it actually necessary to constantly improve or (re)design ourselves, and if so: on whose terms? To what extend are we being formed by forces around us, and how do we (re)gain control?

On show till 22 November at MU Hybrid Art House. Keep an eye on theselfdesignacademy.nl for more info about the The Self Design Share program, filled with webinars, talks and workshops.

Each grain of sand that falls is each second of my life that passes me by. I feel like I am wasting my valuable time obsessing and being compulsive about the stupidest things. Why does this matter so much to me? Body image, weight, BMI, muscle vs fat. Why is this important? It seems so small and insignificant compared to other things to focus on. I love photography and I want to travel the world and capture it from my perspective. Why can't I focus my mind on my goals and dreams instead of letting time slip away while my mind is stuck like a rock in a stream as the water passes and it stays in the same place.

It is a part of Jantar Mantar, an astronomy observatory built in year 1724 in Delhi. Now it has come within the central bussiness district of Delhi.

Zoe will tolerate Kayla until she's about 1inch away and then it's hiss, spit, scratch! Little Kayla is playing it safe here. (Poor Zoe's face is wrinkled up because she's about to sneeze. One more reason that new little kitten is nothing but a nuisance in her view!)

Well, I haven't uploaded in a few weeks since I've been very busy lately, however, I figured I would start my first new upload of 2025 off with a bang.

Southern California doesn't see very many new Albertsons Cos. store openings (although I am holding on hope we'll see more in the next few years), and the last new Albertsons Cos. store opening was the new Sherman Oaks Pavilions back in 2021, a replacement for a previous small Pavilions. Today, I decided since this doesn't happen very often, I would make the drive to see the first new Vons in nearly a decade on its grand opening day. The land site of this new store sits on a former Kmart, which it's no longer existent building was demolished and it's foundation ripped out of the ground in order to make way for construction of a brand sparkling new Vons. This new Vons replaces a smaller older Vons in the same shopping center, which I have posted before.

According to liquor licenses, it appears this Vons now has a new store number, 3431, replacing the store number 1672 of the previous store.

This Vons was very busy for its grand opening. It is very interesting to see a Vons opened with an Albertsons layout. It looks completely different from any Vons in existence since it is the only one so far that has opened under their ownership. The open ceilings makes this Vons feel much larger and open than most stores. It also has a walk in beer cooler which is an Albertsons feature. I have never seen in a Vons before.

This store does not have a pharmacy, and I think Albertsons likely didn't add a pharmacy because the CVS in the center has pharmaceutical rights for the whole center. An expanded beer/wine/liquor department takes the space where a pharmacy and health department would normally be located in today's Albertsons new-builds, with the walk in beer cooler likely being the space where a pharmacy would be. I speculate potentially the store being designed so a pharmacy could be added in the future with a walk in beer cooler taking that space for now.

I believe in early designs of this store there were meant to be two entrances, one main entrance, and one entrance where the pharmacy would be, or in this stores case, the liquor department. However, designs changed at some point so now that entrance is a drive up order entrance.

I imagine the Vons Express being constructed with this store will open in the coming months. It is still under construction, but looks like it could wrap up very soon.

Overall beautiful store. I hope there are more to come in the future.

And who told the light manager hat it would be a good idea to use only red lights and cut all front lights?

A flower garden or floral garden is any garden where flowers are grown and displayed.

Because flowers bloom at varying times of the year, and some plants are annual, dying each winter, the design of flower gardens can take into consideration maintaining a sequence of bloom and consistent color combinations through varying seasons. Besides organizing the flowers in bedding-out schemes limited to annual and perennial flower beds, careful design also takes the labour time, and the color pattern of the flowers into account.

A garden is a planned space, usually outdoors, set aside for the display, cultivation, or enjoyment of plants and other forms of nature. The garden can incorporate both natural and man-made materials. The most common form today is a residential garden, but the term garden has traditionally been a more general one.
