I can't believe it was 10 years ago when I worked on this project! The three layered oversized graphic is a feature experience at the Mammals Hall, which happens every 15 minutes at the Africa Section of the exhibit hall. The show represents the storm season which the animals gathered around the watering hole have been waiting for.

A custom-built community site for exhibit developers
A community-based Website developed with the Association of Science-Technology Centers and Independent Exhibitions.
Too often the lessons learned designing and developing public exhibitions are not shared with other designers. ExhibitFiles is a place where exhibit developers and other museum professional can share their work and review exhibits created by their colleagues. Over the last two years, dozens of museum professionals have authored more than 200 case studies and reviews of exhibits and exhibitions.
Along with the ability to post, browse, search, and tag reviews and case studies, ExhibitFiles contains profiles of 1,300 exhibit developers and designers worldwide.
Member profiles contain personal and professional information along with favorites, contacts, and links to blog feeds and Flickr photo feeds.
At the onset of the project, a blog was launched and the design process for the site was shared with the community. This open process, along with an active advisory board, helped shape the early development of the site. The ExhibitFiles project receives Informal Science Education (ISE) funding from the National Science Foundation.
Ideum developed the site and a custom content management system (CMS) using Ruby on Rails. Ideum, along with the Association of Science-Technology Centers and Independent Exhibitions, helps maintain the site. A new round of development, including a new networked-media feature, is planned for early 2010.
Developed by Ideum with the Association of Science-Technology Centers and Independent Exhibitions. To learn more about this project please visit our portfolio.

The Royal Fortress of Suceava is ranked as one of the most important historical sites in Romania. In 2016 we have successfully brought it to life by assembling the first ever permanent exhibition in its long history.
In Medieval Ages, the fortress played an important role both from a defensive and strategic point of view. Keeping this in mind, we created an exhibit concept that held on to the historical destination of the stronghold.
Following our idea, we put together an exposition that illustrates the military character of the location, certain medieval customs and also presents the citadel's history throughout the ages.
To better represent our concept and to bring a higher note of authenticity to the fortress, all the replicas that we created for this location were handmade. An impressive arsenal of arms and armors, siege weapons, cannons, garments, jewelry, ceramics, furniture, everything was done by hand with the help of several craftsmen and artists.
Furthermore, to make it more lively, we inhabited the fortress with ultra realistic mannequins that embody several important Moldavian characters from the Middle Ages, soldiers and artisans. The mannequins helped us to better display some of the replicas we've made: garments, armor and weapons. We were also able to put into play certain activities from those times: guard duty, crafting, dining and games.
History is ultimately a tale and by using the power of storytelling, visitors can better learn and understand the important events that took place here all through the years.
Therefore, besides a large number of informative panels, we also equipped the exhibit with many interactive systems and projections, that are intended to tell the stories of the fortress in a more attractive fashion. This new method of content delivery has a higher education value and a deeper immersive character than the classical methods of convening information.
