"He was part of my dream, of course - but then I was part of his dream, too." Lewis Carroll

Sculpture on Pero's Bridge, Bristol: "The bridge is composed of three spans; the two outer ones are fixed and the central section can be raised to provide a navigation channel in the harbour. The most distinctive features of the bridge are the pair of horn-shaped sculptures which act as counterweights for the lifting section, leading it to be commonly known as the Horned Bridge."

Australia's second largest city and thriving metropolis, this is Melbourne. It is quite well known for its eclectic artistic communities. Melbourne is often ranked as one of the world's most liveable cities and after a short visit there during my recent trip, I can certainly see why. The Yarra River runs right through the beautiful city and along each bank are scores of fantastic restaurants and cafes. The city seems so alive and full of energy!

I walked up and down the Yarra River looking for great photo opportunities each day. Though I have several shots taken from along the river bank, I really liked this one as it truly captured how full of life the city is. I was drawn to the very prominent traffic flow as people returned home from their jobs. Almost as if the city was exhaling after a long, busy work day. If you look a little closer, you can catch some of the hustle and bustle of this famous city and also see several trains in motion, a water taxi cruising by, and a few bicycle headlights.

Sorry for the drop off this summer. Took some time off for some projects and client work. I plan to be back for a while now and have loads of good material to carry me for a long time! Look forward to catching up on everyone's streams. Please drop a line if you stop by and I'll be sure to do the same!

"Why do you like Montana so much?" It's a good question. I'm glad you asked :)

Well, there are a few reasons I dream of Montana. Do you have a place where you just feel...right? Where you feel at home? A place where upon arriving there you step out of the car and take a long deep breath and then exhale in a sigh of relief, feeling as though a heavy weight has just floated off your shoulders? You feel the crisp clean mountain air rush into your soul. You feel alive.

That's how I feel in Montana. The whole state is wonderful, but Glacier National Park is the crown jewel. My happy place.

Now, getting to the image above. The hike up to Iceberg Lake is spectacular in the truest sense. Fresh wildflowers and sweeping alpine vistas greet you with each bend in the trail it seems. About half way up the trail you hop over a small clear jasper stream that tumbles down into a small gorge. This little stream alone would be a "destination" in most places. But you're in Glacier Park....and it's a mere detail. A place to sit and rest for a moment and cool your feet. The adventure continues as you wind your way higher up the trail with jagged peaks scratching the sky ahead of you.

We came around one bend to find a deer standing next to the trail in lush green vegetation that was waist high. She was just munching away. As we approached she would casually glance over at us. Unfazed. We got closer. Then closer. Now she was at arms length! We watched her in amazement for a while and then moved on.

At the end of the trail you come over this rise and roll into this little oasis nested in the cirque. A cirque is an amphitheater-like valley with steep cliffs shooting up around the perimeter. During the heavy winter the snow and glaciers build up along the sides of the cliffs. Then as the temperature warms during the summer the snow melts and trickles down into the lush valley oasis. It's a natural drip watering system. Numerous varieties of wildflowers just pop up everywhere! It looks like little gnomes have been gardening secretly during the night. It's like no place I have ever seen. It's hard to believe that everything is just growing naturally! It looks too perfect.

Then for the climax you break through the pockets of trees and flowers and this otherworldly still blue lake greets you at the base of the cliffs. Huge chunks of glacier have caved off the rock walls and shattered into fragments. They float silently in the clear emerald water...hence the name "Iceberg Lake". The water has this wonderful blue teal color. An emerald dream.

When I saw the lake for the first time I just stopped and literally gasped in amazement! If I remember right, all I could do was stand there repeating a couple eloquent words. It was something like....."NO........WAY.................NOWAY!!!........NO.......FREAKIN........(head shake)............WAY!!!!!!"

Yeah so...it was nice.

I like Montana.

Just one of the many cool parts of EXHALE

winter is coming. i have always loved winter but never want to let summer or fall go and i have been wanting to do a photo representing that for a while. i decided to go out and shoot a few mornings ago and found this bush with all these little white flower things on them and absolutely had to shoot here. the smoke was inspired by Marley and a few of his photos. the title comes from the ever so lovely Sarah Ann Loreth since i was struggling with it for basically an entire day. but this is me, exhaling the former seasons making way for the ice and cold that is soon to come.
