The first weekday of brand new P&R service 59 (the Turquoise Line) operating to and from Poppleton Bar, and it's the time for any teething issues to show up. And it would so seem that for a significant portion of the day (most likely during the peaks) the timetable simply doesn't have enough slack in it - but First York was prepared for this. In addition to all 6 Optare Versa EV's running around on the city's first all-electric bus service, all of the buses being in service at this time, Optare Solo EV all electric battery powered demonstration minibus YJ13 HKY has stepped in to bolster the service as I expected it would... the smallest bus to ever operate on a Park and Ride service in York, this is a quick photo of the passenger saloon I was allowed to take before the bus went back to the depot.

Originally YJ59 BTY and among the very first Wright Gemini 2DL lowheight buses to be built, AY04 MAX was refurbished just under 4 years ago to MAX specification as service 415 which operates between York and Selby was upgraded. But since early 2018 (about february time) there have been whispers on the wind that the 415 was to be upgraded again to a Sapphire route, though doubts were thrown on this as it was claimed that the Selby depot didn't have enough money for this to be merited. However it can now be seen that there was truth in those rumours as 1504 has returned from a refurbishment at Bus and Coach World in Blackburn and entered service back on the 415 during the first week of September 2018 wearing the new corporate Sapphire livery complete with interlocking rings logo. Seen here at York Piccadilly with a midnight 415 to Selby, the driver having specially brought this out for this duty. I have been told from a trusted source however that this will return to Blackburn after the rest of the batch has been done as this one isn't quite right:- the upstairs information screen is positioned at the top of the stairs too far forward so people coming up the stairs bonk their heads on it, whilst the screen downstairs is fitted to the side of the fire extinguisher housing; the drivers' bulkhead has also been badly deformed, and this is said to have supposed to have had white hanover destinations fitted. Also apparently the workshop simply 'painted over the rust' when applying the new livery.

Over the weekend a teaser photo had been sent to social media from First York regarding Volvo B7RLE Wright Eclipse Urban YJ08 XYB, which was expected to enter service with a new look on November 8. Seen here a day earlier having already entered service, the bus has gained a bright yellow overall advertising livery to promote York's brand new iTravel smartcard system which has been implemented by the city council with money from the Better Bus Area Fund so as to improve accessibility to buses.... for a relatively compact city, York has quite a diverse bus scene with no less than 9 different companies operating regular stagecarriage services in and out of the city - the aim of the smartcard system is for one card to be able to be used on any bus operated by any of these companies in the city. On-street terminals have been installed over the last few weeks and have undergone commissioning ready for the system going live this week.
Originally part of the Park and Ride fleet, this and 69364 were de-branded and initially operated route 13A in a basic silver-only livery but more recently have been dual purpose and operate any route as and when required. Today the 'flying banana' has been on service 11 connecting Bishopthorpe and Ashley Park and is seen here at the Stonebow.
