Simple. Wireless flash, pointed at the flower from a high angle.I had to lower down the flash level to ensure the lighting is not too harsh. To achieved the dark background i use a fast shutter speed.

Excercise....I wanted a futuristic black & white.... took three seperate images all different lighting, size etc...used my shot of the Grand Canyon (where my Step Dads ashes were spread ) put my kids together and edited in CS3...very different effect...
