Last shot today is the real Brisbane River looking downstream from the new Kangaroo Point pedestrian/cycleway bridge. On the left side we have hotels and the business sector of the city along Eagle Street with high rise living at the far end. The barge is involved with a total reconstruction of the Eagle Street pier entertainment (restaurants) precinct. That work is in its early days. Out of shot on the right is the suburb of Kangaroo Point that leads down to the Story Bridge just sneaking in, in the distance.

This is the first of a series I did of this concept with the help of some friends yesterday and it was really interesting to see it coming out the way it did, I just wanted to take a moment to contemplate what I was looking at, I think when you achieve something like that you can call it success.

Last year's model, at a significant discount!

The S-foils revolve around a quick-change reactor tube: mount the engine best suited to your mission in a matter of minutes instead of hours.

Making a tight atmospheric turn in urban combat? No problem! The independent S-foils can remain horizontal even while the primary airfoil drops out of vertical, giving you that little extra lift that might just make all the difference!

The 6 fusial thrusters provide much-needed redundancy in battle: thrust vectoring is maintained even in the face of a disabled thruster, and straight-line thrust remains available even if any two thrusters are taken out.

The primary airfoil supports stackable armored weapon pods; mount half a dozen lightweight weapons, or a few heavy ones, depending on mission and preference. (Structural limitations may apply.) The S-foil weapon pods are not stackable, but are similarly armored.

The cab-forward see-around cockpit and droid slot are combined into an escape pod with eight thrusters, itself mounted on the Gyro-stabilizer you know and love!

Have your integrated Nav-Computer and your favorite droid, too -- it never hurts to have a backup, does it? Your droid can target weapons and perform repairs while the integrated systems prepare your hyperspace jump -- to fame and glory!

The New York Susquehanna & Western Railway's motive power situation, whether leased or recently acquired, has sparked a lot of interest as of late. Daylight runs of their normally nocturnal SU-99 and SU-100 trains always add a bit more interest to the mix. Here is westbound SU-99 on ex Lehigh and Hudson River railway rails at Craigville NY on 05-25-2023. The train will diverge off of ex L&HR rails onto the ex Erie Graham Line at Hudson Junction in Hamptonburgh NY for its run to Port Jervis and up the Southern Tier to Binghamton NY. My Set-Up for these. Rotated 180 degrees, then mirrored and flipped.

While waiting for a few parts to arrive for my primary entry to the Assemble the Fleet contest, this ship evolved from a new wing technique with which I’ve been experimenting and some errant technic panels that were yet to find a home.

Once I found a fun way to build some tiny vulture droids, I thought it was worth posting it as an entry to the contest.

I have a stud.io file with literally dozens of variations of the vulture droid design. I originally intended to use a minifig shield to represent the droids’ body but the element is a lot thinner than the road sign thus can’t connect to the fingers of the ski ‘wings’.

The trifighter was an interesting little build. Creating a triangular base for the fighter was a challenge. I try to shy away from using too many illegal techniques in my builds, but a way to create the desired shape at such a small size using more conventional techniques eluded me. I couldn’t believe my luck to find that the gap between the three clips at the centre of the model would accept that horn element!

The classic flatiron postcard view in Toronto is changing quite a bit these days.

Holi, the Festival of Colours has been celebrated in India since thousands of years and is now also celebrated by various communities of South Asia including non-Hindu communities.

While Holi is celebrated in almost every part of India, Holi in Braj is especially famous. Braj is a historical region which covers the area of Mathura, Vrindavan,Barsana,Nandgaon and some nearby areas. Holi here attacts tourists and pilgrims from all over the world because of it’s special customs and traditions. Mathura is the birth-place of Lord Krishna and Vrindavan is the place where he grew up in his childhood.

When Krishna was young, he cribbed to his mother about Radha (his friend) being fair while Krishna himself was dark complexioned. His mother (Yashoda) suggested him to colour Radha with colors in a playful manner. Over the years, Krishna from his village Nandgaon used to go to Barsana (Radha’s village) to color Radha and other Gopis. They also used to playfully beat him with sticks. And hence the tradition evolved.

According to the legend, menfolk from Nandgaon visit Barsana to celebrate ‘Holi’ with women from Barsana. When these people come visiting, they are welcomed by these women with sticks and are beaten up. The bunch from Nandgaon comes well prepared for it, with a padded shield to counter the attacks. These sticks are called ‘lathths’, hence this holi-celebration is famously known as ‘Laththmaar’ holi.

Next day, the women from Barsana (since the women don’t go, men and trans-genders dressed as women represent women from the village) go to Nandgaon to celebrate Holi with the men from the village. They are welcomed with water and colour everywhere, but the main event takes place in the courtyard of the temple at Nandgaon. This event marks the highlight of the holi celebration at Nandgaon. During the celebrations at the temple courtyard, people from both the villages sit across each other singing, dancing and conversing and this meet-up is termed as ‘samaaj’.

My look for last nights dance was this mainly because I just wanted this dress to finally get a show in the real world.

If you are fast in other words if you can beat flickr deleting all my old photos because of the changes they are making and my lack of interest in a pro account you will see that I have had this dress for some years almost as long as I have been on flickr.

Every now and then it comes out for photos and each time the look gets better in my opinion that is. the time I wore I didn't have much in the way of makup skills my hair wasn't the best and I just didn't have the relaxed way about me I do now.

My look has evolved over a long time with a number of very wrong styles along with some good ones. the constant apart from this dress is my drive to be as close to the real deal as possible something that I can hopefully say I've achieved.

I wonder how I will look the next time this dress gets worn?

This is from an image previously added to this image. Here we see it evolve into a comic strip, particularly in the upper left. If anyone is interested there is a larger version of this, an image that covers more of the original image.

I made this design for www.madeinthenow.com
