The Evolution is a ride that cover a 360 degrees or one full rotation while spinning like a top. This shot was captured at the Sacramento State Fair in 2008.
The very latest recolour of the Matchbox Moving Parts Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IV which they've finally given the correct date of 1996 and not 1994 as per its previous recolours. Like its previous versions it remains totally stock in appearance with no attempts to plaster it with rally inspired logos and liveries which for me is a big bonus.
This iconic 1990's high performance saloon is finished in a truly glossy metallic black paint colour plus some lovely detailing not only to its front and rear detailing but also the engine too. A very neat touch which even Majorette rarely bother to do.

Evolution - Let there be Light. Licht, veel licht was er zeker! Wat een mooie licht- en lasershow. Dat maakt het werk voor partyfotografen leuk en uitdagend :) Behalve mooi licht, werd er ook nog eens top gedraaid. Held van de avond voor mij was toch zeker wel Markus Schulz. Het was voor mij wel even wennen de weg die Tiesto in slaat. Je kunt het mooi vinden of niet, hij blijft zichzelf vernieuwen. Dat was aan de set bij Evolution ook goed te horen. En dat is zeker knap als je al zolang meegaat als Tijs. Al met al een topweekend, met eerst Reloaded..... Dance into the Future en daarna Evolution - Let there be Light. Thx. Radio 538 voor de uitstekende organisatie. Hopelijk krijgt dit initiatief een vervolg volgend jaar.

Darwin stickers and some evolution temporary tattoos sent to me by a biology prof in the states as an apology if he'd creeped me out when he emailed me (after seeing me on twitter) to ask if I'd knit a pair of anti-creationist underpants for him.
Context: the anti-creationist underpants weren't his idea, someone had already done a knitting pattern.

Les rues de la Cité
Le saviez-vous ? L’évolution du nom des rues, odonymie selon son nom savant, est une véritable source d’informations. Elle nous en dit beaucoup sur l’histoire d’une ville, ses habitants mais aussi sur les intentions, politiques parfois mais pas seulement, des consuls, puis des conseils municipaux. Avec ses deux mille ans d’histoire, la Cité de Carcassonne a vu le nom de ses rues changer plusieurs fois.
Sous l’Ancien Régime, la dénomination des rues répond à une fonction purement pratique de repérage dans l’espace. Si une rue permet de se rendre de la Porte Narbonnaise au château, on la désigne sous le nom de la « rue tirant de la Porte Narbonnaise au Castel ». La place sur laquelle se trouve le Grand-Puits est tout simplement appelée la Place du Grand-Puits… Progressivement, les noms se simplifient ou des noms d’usage se créent. Une rue longe-t-elle la tour qui abrite le moulin, on l’appelle rue du Moulin. S’il s’agit du four, rue du Four Saint-Nazaire ; la voie où demeurent les bouchers devient naturellement la rue des Bouchers… Certains usages toutefois sont liés à l’évolution politique de la Cité. Ainsi la place du Château est-elle nommée Place Royale… jusqu’à la Révolution où elle prend le nom de Place de la Révolution.
Au-delà de l’effacement systématique de toute référence au pouvoir royal ou religieux lors de la Première République, les régimes politiques qui se succèdent choisissent d’honorer les grands hommes qui incarnent leurs valeurs. L’ancienne rue Saint-Bernard qui menait au couvent du même nom est rebaptisée rue Diderot en 1883. Par la même occasion, la rue Saint-Nazaire devient rue Garibaldi et la place Saint-Sernin porte le nom de Hoche, grand général de la Révolution. Le nom des rues célèbre également les grands évènements de la vie de la Nation comme la rue de la Paix. Lors de ce même conseil municipal de 1883, les élus saluent la mémoire d’Eugène Viollet-le-Duc, décédé en 1879, en donnant son nom à la rue passant devant le château. L’ancienne rue Narbonnaise devient quant à elle la rue Cros-Mayrevieille ; les deux héros de la sauvegarde de la Cité restent indissociables.
Au XXe siècle, la célébration des grandes figures de l’histoire de la Cité
Après son sauvetage sous l’impulsion de Jean-Pierre Cros-Mayrevieille et sa restauration par Eugène Viollet-le-Duc, la Cité devient un enjeu économique majeur pour la ville du fait de sa fréquentation touristique. En 1910, les membres de la Société des Arts et des Sciences de Carcassonne forment officiellement le vœu « que les noms des rues de la Cité se rapportent aux faits de son passé, rappelant aussi bien les actions célèbres dont elle fut témoin, que les hommes qui la défendirent, la construisirent, obtinrent sa conservation ou la restaurèrent. » Le conseil municipal réuni le 19 février 1911 donne son assentiment mais doit obtenir l’accord de l’administration des Beaux-Arts. Les débats se succèdent au sein de la société d’érudits : Alaric, Philippe le Hardi, Saint Louis, Roger le Vieux, Mahul sont les principaux noms évoqués. On parle aussi d’une rue des Mortes-Payes, d’une rue de l’Inquisition, d’une place du Cloître…
Au final, les Hoche, Diderot et Garibaldi, trop étrangers au sort de la Cité, sont évincés. Dame Carcas, le comte Roger, Agnès de Montpellier, Adélaïde de Toulouse et le vicomte Trencavel passent à la postérité. Sans oublier toutefois des hommes politiques plus proches de nous, comme le grand républicain Théophile Marcou, opposant implacable du Second Empire, qui devenu maire de Carcassonne, fit aménager en 1872 le réseau de distribution d’eau courante dans l’antique Cité…
Did you know ? The evolution of street names, odonymy according to its learned name, is a real source of information. It tells us a lot about the history of a city, its inhabitants but also about the intentions, sometimes political but not only, of the consuls, then of the municipal councils. With its two thousand years of history, the City of Carcassonne has seen the name of its streets change several times.
Under the Old Regime, the naming of streets responds to a purely practical function of locating in space. If a street makes it possible to go from the Porte Narbonnaise to the castle, it is designated under the name of the "street pulling from the Porte Narbonnaise to the Castel". The square where the Grand-Puits is located is simply called the Place du Grand-Puits ... Gradually, the names are simplified or common names are created. A street runs alongside the tower which houses the mill, it is called rue du Moulin. If it is the oven, rue du Four Saint-Nazaire; the way where the butchers live naturally becomes the rue des Bouchers… Some uses, however, are linked to the political evolution of the City. Thus the Place du Château was named Place Royale ... until the Revolution when it took the name of Place de la Révolution.
Beyond the systematic erasure of any reference to royal or religious power during the First Republic, successive political regimes choose to honor the great men who embody their values. The old rue Saint-Bernard which led to the convent of the same name was renamed rue Diderot in 1883. At the same time, rue Saint-Nazaire became rue Garibaldi and place Saint-Sernin was named after Hoche, great general of the Revolution. The name of the streets also celebrates the great events of the life of the Nation like the rue de la Paix. During this same municipal council of 1883, elected officials salute the memory of Eugène Viollet-le-Duc, who died in 1879, giving his name to the street passing in front of the castle. The old rue Narbonnaise becomes rue Cros-Mayrevieille; the two heroes of the safeguard of the City remain inseparable.

In the end, the Hoche, Diderot and Garibaldi, too foreign to the fate of the City, are ousted. The NATO Sea Sparrow is a highly maneuverable, all-weather, beyond-visual-range, semi-active radar homing air-to-air missile used by the United States, NATO and other allied forces.
