To be free as the birds that fly past me
Light as the fish in the sea
To be as wise as the mountains and tall as the trees
Even though I had to get up at 4:30 this AM to meet up with some friends from the photo club to go to Lunenburg for sunrise. Sunrise was a bit disappointing but we had a lovely day anyway, and the weather turned out great..a breezy -1 C but sunny... There is a wooden statue covered in a big tarp on the deck of the red shed which I decided to clone out..it was just not very pretty LOL
These teeny, seemingly fragile, very beautiful little Rosemary flowers are on a little plant in a 4" pot in the greenhouse. Is at max 1:1 magnification and also taken in aps-c, so effectively 1.5x, but with a 1.0 d.o.f. and a bit of a crop thrown in.
They were pretty awkward to photograph - I took some photos first and then uploaded in order to get an idea of what they were like, which didn't really help that much as even with the 20x was difficult to tell what was what on these pretty complex flowers, then I took a lot of various little flowers and angles but only a couple worth keeping. A bit hit and miss to say the least :^)
dedicated to whoever it was that reported my stream as unsafe to flickr staff ~ :(

MOUNTAIN SNAIL 😇. Nature always manages to amaze me, even in its humblest and most daily manifestations. Surroundings of Portacomaro, Piedmont, ITALY.
Even though quite common and actually not found in prairies, it's one of my favorite warblers. Always very accommodating to photograph, usually at head height. I had my eye out for this pretty male in Markham Park as many friends had posted beautiful shots.

Good Stewards of Nature
Even when being pointed out to me this was so difficult to spot with just your eyes. It stayed absolutley perfectly still, immitating the tree it was sitting on top of.
Green is the colour of life, reflected in nature as a sign of renewal. The quiet atmosphere, beautiful scenery, good smells and fresh, clean air in forests all contribute to the healing of our nature and of course, ourselves.
Hope you have a chance to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city or even a break from your busy life!
Have a fantastic Sunday!
Better stop dreamin' of the quiet life 'coz it's the one we'll never know
and quit runnin' for that runaway bus 'coz those rosey days are few
and stop apologizin' for things you never done
time is short and life is cruel
but it's up to us to change this town called malice........
Low tide beauty.
Happy day before Friday people!! The weekend is so close, I can taste it! :-P Thank goodness!!!
You can get star trails even in cities with lots of light pollution. About 18 mo ago, I took photos at night in Sydney. I didn't get as many star trails as I had hoped for but did get lots of plane trails.
I tried again later this time after the planes stop flying in and out of Sydney's main airport at 11 pm. I also used a different lens. The only problem I had was it was quite windy which caused a bit of camera shake even though the camera was on a tripod. At least I did not have to worry about dew on the camera or lens. This image is a composite of 113 photos.

I have no idea what inspired me to call this photograph by that Tom Petty song....but anyway....
Taking photos of Tom Petty before he died was pretty special. www.flickr.com/photos/kirstiecat/15035981575/in/photolist...

A cactus (plural: cacti) is a member of the plant family Cactaceae, a family comprising about 127 genera with some 1750 known species of the order Caryophyllales. The word "cactus" derives, through Latin, from the Ancient Greek κάκτος, kaktos, Cacti occur in a wide range of shapes and sizes. Most cacti live in habitats subject to at least some drought. Many live in extremely dry environments, even being found in the Atacama Desert, one of the driest places on earth. Cacti show many adaptations to conserve water. Almost all cacti are succulents, meaning they have thickened, fleshy parts adapted to store water. Cacti are native to the Americas, ranging from Patagonia in the south to parts of western Canada in the north.
.... on the darkest days in life.
We should keep a little light moment, to bright up the world around us. Even if it's only a very small sparkling in the sky.

Often, even if I don't always want to, I have to leave my forests and travel to the nearest city or to Helsinki. Helsinki is a dear city to me, I work there from time to time, people dear to me live there and I have also lived there temporarily for long periods of time. The city has given me a lot. I've rarely photographed it though, maybe because the days there are always so busy.
This ICM version of Helsinki is made of two stacked ICM photos, captured on a sunny November morning. The stacked photo itself was boring, so I colored it more and painted a few cars and a bench so that my image of Helsinki would be what the city really means to me. Joy, success and love.
This particular part of Helsinki is completely new and my eyes are not used to it. There are, for example, really tall tower blocks under construction, some already ready. On the left is the sea and the commercial port.
The video depicts a more traditional and more familiar Helsinki in January, during the bitter cold.
Even if it is somewhat useless, it's good looking which is what really seems to matter in this world:)
From the top, an impressive plateau, it is possible to contemplate the entire city of Rio and its surroundings – it is possible to see the Sugar Loaf, Christ the Redeemer, the beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema, São Conrado and Barra da Tijuca, and even the mountains of Serra of the Organs. It's an unforgettable sight!
PS. Me being photographed by one of my guides, Marcelo Kastrup (Adrena Rio).
Even through the mist, there is still so much color information I could get from the woods in RAW format. With a little bit enhancement of vibrancy and saturation, I see these two trees - the Evergreen Furs and the Red Hairs dancing and shooting their magic powers to each other - a magic forest! With some exploration, I decided to increase the grains and crop the originally portrait image to the landscape at screen size 16:9 so that the grains are visible - making it like a work of embroidery.
Even rusted and left to rot, these old cars had a presence, unlike so many vehicles today. For the most part today's vehicles look a lot alike. Seen in Dugald, Manitoba in March.

„Even a wave stops being such. Even a wave, in a single instant, stops being a ripple of the sea to go and relax in the depths of the waters. Perhaps for this reason, attention is paid to it. Maybe that's why, when you are aboard a boat facing the railing, you are almost always there, looking for that little whiteness. Near or far it is. You stand there watching that slender bend of water vibrate in infinite drops and then dissolve. It remains, even during a short-term trip, to see them first restless and then exhausted to return to being only sea. "- Federico Pace
