Alice Granger received a B.A. in Portugese, attended the Graduate School of Social Work at Rutgers University, and graduated as well from the Paralegal Institute at NYU in New York City. While her early worked included time as an interpreter, she then spent over 25 years gaining varied legal experience both in the private sector and corporate settings, including AT&T and the American Automobile Association. She was also a NJ licensed insurance agent and even co-managed a family restaurant.
Throughout it all Alice raised three daughters and retired to Florida. Her interest was piqued as a volunteer Ombudsman with Florida’s Department of Elder Affairs before joining the Bach team almost five years ago. Alice, currently serving as the Vice President of the Southwest Florida Paralegal Association, earned her Certified Paralegal status and is a Florida Registered Paralegal. She has travelled in the South Pacific, western Europe and the Mediterranean. Alice enjoys cooking and entertaining as well as varied social clubs in Sarasota.

By this time next year, we will have a national court ruling in favor of same-sex marriage. Two federal appeals courts have already ruled that the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is unconstitutional, and the next stop is the U.S. Supreme Court, which will also have to throw out this discriminatory law.

Lesli Madaika has worked in the legal field for a number of years, with most of her experience in Probate and Estate Planning, with additional experience in Real Estate, Business and Contract law, and some Litigation. “Of all of the different areas of law, I particularly enjoy working in the field of Elder Law because it provides an opportunity to get to know our clients as we help them,” shares Lesli.
A native Floridian, born in Miami, she has lived in various places around this state, as well as southern California, and southern New Mexico. In Chicago, she attended the University of Illinois in Chicago and Northwestern University in Evanston, studying psychology and sociology, history, and business administration. Since she enjoys going to school so much, she has happily taken a variety of classes at the community colleges in the different places she has lived. Lesli has two adult daughters and three grandchildren, plus several dogs and cats. Her hobbies include reading, nature photography, stamp collecting, chess, needlework, and traveling as frequently as possible.

Babette B. Bach, Esq. is an Elder Law Advocate and the founder of Bach Elder Law. Board certified by both the Florida Bar and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (CELA), she is chair of the Elder Law Section of the Florida Bar and has been practicing law for over 25 years.

Babette has used her specialization in Elder Law to become a legal activist for the elderly. She was co-counsel in Gerkin v. Reiger/Levine, a landmark civil rights class action lawsuit which earned her the prestigious award for “Outstanding Service to Florida’s Elderly” from the Florida Bar Association. As a result of this lawsuit, the State of Florida was required to change their Medicaid Policy to provide coverage for all uninsured medical benefits to over 45,000 Medicaid recipients. This new policy resulted in the funding of approximately $ 52 million in new benefits to the poorest and sickest citizens of Florida.
As chair of the Elder Law Section for the Florida Bar, Babette stays abreast of the latest developments in Elder Law statewide and nationally. She frequently lectures on the legislative changes to governmental benefits affecting the elderly. In addition, as a board member of the Florida Gulf Coast Chapter of the Alzheimier’s Association, she is a staunch advocate for the increased support for research and services for those touched by the disease.
In June 2009, Babette began her service as chair of the Florida Bar Elder Law Section, an honor which recognizes her state-wide leadership in the unique practice of Elder Law.

According to The Times a woman from Lancashire has won a legal battle for better rights for people who lost their long-term partners, even if they are unmarried. The high court had dismissed her claim, however The Court of Appeal let Jakki Smith challenge the ruling.
