Details of the fictional planet Tatooine can be seen ... a film set built in 1997 by George Lucas for the production of Star Wars: Phantom Menace, Episode One of the 2nd Trilogy. Crossing behind Jidah is Musbah, the boy with the desert fox featured earlier.
When the opportunity presented itself in Tunisia, to visit the Star Wars movie set located at Ong el Jemel, it was not something that had immediate appeal to me as I've never been a big Star Wars fan .... but I imagined my son's response back in Toronto if he learned I'd had a chance to go to TATOOINE & had turned it down!! So into the four-wheel drive I climbed & off we went. What a thrill the 40km journey from Tozeur to Ong El Jemel was .. crossing the great salt flats of Chott el Gharsa & a wild roller coaster ride over the sand dunes of the Sahara desert. Awesome! Just getting there!
Typically a set is dismantled when shooting is complete but Lucas left it standing. Some structures have been destroyed by periodic sandstorms but, 15 years on, what remains is still sturdy & is a popular tourist attraction, though nobody seems to be making any money out of it. No admission charge, no souvenir stands. Probably not wise to go out there without a guide ... unless you know the Tunisian sandscape extremely well & are 100% sure your vehicle is not going to break down *~* A few local Berbers have taken up unofficial basic residence inside some of the igloo-like structures. I believe Jidah & Musbah are living there with their animals....Jidah has a hawk, Musbah his desert fox.

Taken outside the very cool Acqualina hotel in Miami, this was the more expensive hotel that was next to ours. All of the hotels on the avenue that we were staying on had these wonderful little waterfalls. They are perfect for taking pictures of.
If you like this picture please feel free to look at my HDR set for all of my HDR shots. I also have a set with all of my Miami pictures in.
