Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia is widely known as a "must visit" destination for photographers. Any time we visit the province we always set aside a day or two to explore the area, regardless of the weather. Our time is generally split between photographing the "iconic" subject material that most visitors are familiar with, and getting pics of other less "touristy" stuff that we come across. Here I was getting photos of a boat at a dock on the other side of the harbor. In moving around to get a variety of different compositions, I spotted this can jammed onto a protruding bolt on new dock timbers. I grabbed several images from a few different viewpoints, this one being the pic I liked best. Suspecting that this had not been deliberately placed for those photographers that might have had a "Peggy's Cove Coke can" on their Nova Scotia image "bucket list", I removed it and tossed it in a trash can on the way back to my van.

Taken with my new (at the time) Kodak DX6490 camera, a handy pocket-sized point & shoot that always gave me great pix. Anything bad that it produced was due to "operator error".

More experimentation with curves and different styling/layer opacity but I may have gone a little too far. But yet again, as i said, it is trial and error ¬

But I still like this image alot, with the bronze and the sunny feel. Makes me miss home. a little.

a lot?

no.....

just the sun.

nessun errore.

I did not look around me for things that seemed out of place. I tried to create an "error" myself by taking unsharp and underexposed images.

While downloading the photos from South Africa, we had to tackle some sort of error. After using salvaging software, we managed to claim most photos back, except for this one.

The weather was not so helpful for landscape photography the last days here in the Netherlands. A lot of rainy days and overcast skies. As I didn't want to go far away but I still wanted to be productive I searched for locations nearby. While searching the web I discovered the Dutch professional photographer Lars van der Goor. He inspired me very much. He photographs a lot of forest scenes in beautiful light which he processes in a very moody, artistic way . Here's the link to his website: www.larsvandegoor.. Take the effort to explore his website, his work is really extraordinary.

Now I happen to live in a quiet place with quite a big forest just a few minutes away from home. Usually I don't visit the forest in the summer but only in autumn for the stunning autumn colors. But after seeing a few beautiful pictures of a summer forest I decided to give it a go. Because the sunrises and sunsets were clouded I went during the day at the moments that it didn't rain. To photograph under these circumstances (cloudy) the normal shots of the forest were not special enough in my opinion. I remembered some of the experimental and creative ways one can use his equipment to create different photos. Especially moving the camera while pressing the release button and zoombursts. It is very trial and error, lots of clicks for a succescul photo.

For this photo I choose to put a big tree at the foreground and after multiple tries I got this result which I find satisfying enough for these dreadful days. It might be a little bit over the top for some people but I quite like it as an occasional addition to my portfolio.

My hand *coloured (if you want to use it please credit me and link to this description) version of an old photograph of Liverpool Corporation Passenger Transport (LCPT) tram No. 973, showing a 'Private' destination blind. I did not realise that I had two photos of the same tramways tour on No. 973 which I assume was being run by the **LRTL.

The other photo is at:-

flic.kr/p/2ibVtJZ

The original BnW photo is here:-

flic.kr/p/2j4gqnc

The photo reverse is stamped with the photographer (and/or negative owner) name of R. B. Parr and annotated 22 June 1952.

Liverpool 973 was built as a double deck fully enclosed streamlined tram (aka Bogie Streamliner) in Apr 1937 by LCT at its Edge Lane Works, seating 34/44 and running on EMB Hwt (heavyweight) radial bogies. Liverpool's own designation of the EMB Hwt bogie was called the EMB JB (Johannesburg). It was withdrawn Nov 1956 and stored at Kirkby Trading Estate where it was subsequently broken up and/or burned.

The parts of the Liverpool tramways system that had not already been withdrawn or transferred to bus operation closed on 14th Sep 1957.

* My coloured images are more sketch or watercolour like than colour transparency or print like. They are an impression of that subject and period, rather than an accurate representation of how the image/subject actually looked when the photo was taken.

** The LRTL were the Light Railway Transport League which was formed in 1937 and renamed the Light Rail Transit Association (LRTA) in 1979.

If there are any errors in the above description please let me know. Thanks.

Back to Blighty (England) for a quick visit next week - I should be back by Sunday.

An old photograph of Gateshead & District Tramways (GDT) car No. 58 showing a 'Central Stn' destination blind.

The photo reverse is stamped with the photographer (and/or negative owner) name J. C. Gillham, and the date 18 Aug 1950.

No. 58 was built as a single deck fully enclosed car by Brush in 1921 seating 48 and running on Brill 39E bogies. It was withdrawn from service in 1951 and sold to British Railways for use on the Grimsby & Immingham Electric Railway (given fleet No. 28), they withdrew it from service when their system closed in 1961.

The parts of the Gateshead & District Tramways, and Grimsby & Immingham Railway, that had not already been withdrawn or transferred to bus operation closed in Aug 1951 and Jul 1961 respectively.

If there are any errors in the above description please let me know. Thanks.

Day 142 (v 13.0) - practice makes sense (but not necessarily perfect)

Bit of a schoolboy error lead me to make an unplanned visit to Corabia on 15 September 2021. Two trains were booked to leave from platform 1 at Caracal around the same time to head off in opposite directions. The trains weren't plated up and no electronic departure boards at the station either. Fortunately the line was needed and I managed to replan the rest of the days travels without any loss of new track. I just ended up arriving at my destination for the night 3 hours late causing a bit of a issue with my pre-booked accommodation.

These 4-wheel railcars built from 1935 onwards are still in service in Romania. Hard plastic seats and extremely rough riding along with poor ventilation. Tough travel conditions for over three hours on a hot afternoon in mid September.

Seen here is 770953 ready to form train R9064, 15:30 Corabia to Piatra Olt. At the time of visiting, the branch saw two passenger workings a day - this and an early morning one from Caracal returning back soon after arrival. The branch sees freight traffic though despite next to the river Danube isn't one that sees goods transported via one of several rail connected ports.

Es menos malo agitarse en la duda que descansar en el error.
