No matter how hard you try to eradicate this weed, it spreads and moves on, but my it is pretty close up!
Kakadu National Park is a protected area in the Northern Territory of Australia, 171 km southeast of Darwin.
The park is located within the Alligator Rivers Region of the Northern Territory. It covers an area of 19,804 km2 (7,646 sq mi), extending nearly 200 kilometres from north to south and over 100 kilometres from east to west. It is the size of Slovenia, about one-third the size of Tasmania, or nearly half the size of Switzerland.
The name Kakadu may come from the mispronunciation of Gaagudju, which is the name of an Aboriginal language spoken in the northern part of the park. This name may derive from the Indonesian word kakatuwah, (via Dutch kaketoe and German Kakadu) subsequently Anglicised as "cockatoo”.
Aboriginal people have occupied the Kakadu area continuously for at least 40,000 years. Kakadu National Park is renowned for the richness of its Aboriginal cultural sites. There are more than 5,000 recorded art sites illustrating Aboriginal culture over thousands of years. The archaeological sites demonstrate Aboriginal occupation for at least 20,000 and possibly up to 60,000 years.
The cultural and natural values of Kakadu National Park were recognised internationally when the park was placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. This is an international register of properties that are recognised as having outstanding cultural or natural values of international significance. Kakadu was listed in three stages: stage 1 in 1981, stage 2 in 1987, and the entire park in 1992.
Approximately half of the land in Kakadu is Aboriginal land under the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976, and most of the remaining land is currently under claim by Aboriginal people. The areas of the park that are owned by Aboriginal people are leased by the traditional owners to the Director of National Parks to be managed as a national park. The remaining area is Commonwealth land vested under the Director of National Parks. All of Kakadu is declared a national park under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.
The Aboriginal traditional owners of the park are descendants of various clan groups from the Kakadu area and have longstanding affiliations with this country. Their lifestyle has changed in recent years, but their traditional customs and beliefs remain very important. About 500 Aboriginal people live in the park, many of them are traditional owners. All of Kakadu is jointly managed by Aboriginal traditional owners and the Australian Government's Department of the Environment and Water Resources through a division known as Parks Australia. Park Management is directed by the Kakadu Board of Management.

The Organisation "Un Techo Para Chile" (“A Roof For Chile”) was born with the wish to eradicate the poverty in my country. The idea arose in 1997, here in Chile, with the creative move of some idealist young students who decided to make a "active voluntary service" creating the construction of emergency homes in marginal zones. Nowadays, already 25,000 homes have been constructed and the organization is the second most important collection of my country.
Now the idea grows, and 11 Sudamerican Countries are working with the same concept exported by "Un Techo Para Mi Pais" ("A Roof For My Country" that is a branch of the incial project, with the objective to export it to the rest of Sudamerica)
In one of those branches, was born “Un Techo Para Palestina” (“A Roof For Palestine”). Alejandra Camus Said, Felipe Espejo Giacaman and Me are working in this project, starting it together with members and voluntaries of "Un Techo Para Mi Pais", with the idea to construct houses of emergency in Palestine, but our first steps are, to reunite to the Arab and Palestine colectivity in Chile and to contribute with the eradication of the poverty here in Chile, while we thought and we armed better the final project.
I took this pictures this weekend in our first activity to of constructions of "Un Techo Para Palestina" in Coínco, VI region of Chile.

As the Dread Brotherhood swept across the vast windswept wastes of Colorado, they left no survivors in their wake. Those scarred by the radiation were deemed unworthy to live in what had become of America. Their bodies left a trail all the way to the rear of the Dread Brotherhood convoys. A trail of tears, blood, and death.

“…The nature of a man who has realized Mahamudra is cool, tranquil, and serene. Whatever he does walking, sitting, standing or lying, he always acts in accordance with the Dharma – leading a life of humility, cultivating total awareness and ever aspiring to – final release. He stays in wilderness of rock and snow, in the seclusion of forests or cemeteries eradicating his ego – clinging once and for all. Wishlessness has arisen in his heart; no vestige of attachment can be traced. Entanglements are cut off, illusions gone by themselves, worldly dharmas becoming meaningless. He is more concerned with the welfare of others than his own and is thus able to exchange his own happiness for the suffering of others. As the unity of Samsara (the eternal cycle of birth, death, rebirth and suffering) and Nirvana (attainment of indescribable ultimate wisdom and compassion) itself to him, he fully realizes that all phenomena are nothing but the manifestations of his own mind.
Mind itself, luminous and void, is the realm of the absolute. Compassion as means and wisdom are intrinsically one. The yogi continually abiding at this level of reality has accomplished the essence of meditation. Unperturbed and preserving, he experiences without interruption the Clear Light in the oneness of Emptiness and Compassion. He has made his Samadhi (higher level of concentrated meditation) become Omnipresent.”
- Drubchen Ngawang Tsering
It gives me goose bumps to think about the yogins of this land, the mystics who were known to meditate alone in the caves with very little or no food, who were not afraid of dying alone and no one knowing about it or even their name. Who were able to regulate the body temperatures at will (with the help of yoga) and thus survive in extreme climates without any aides and some were said to posses powers of flying (which might be an allegory)!
As monasticism grew within Buddhism in the early formation days, many still remained wanderers. They were free from the tighter rules of the community, open to forest, sky, gorge, and valleys and to interact with people. It was from within this lineage of wanderers, practitioners of Buddhist yoga, strongly influenced by grass root tendencies towards devotion of personalized deities, emotional expression and catharsis through chant and dance that the tantric yogin emerged upon the scene.
Yogic practices were already developed in Dravidian India before the Aryan invasion and were probably used by shamans to produce their tasks as seers and healers. With the emergence of the caste system, yoga became the means of both self-transcendence and social emancipation.
In 11th century an ascetic from south India, Phadampahad Sangyé (also known as Dampa Sangye or Pha Dhampa Sangye) traveled to Dingri in Tibet, where along with his disciple and consort Yogini Machig Labdron jointly created a practice, wherein the yogin dances in cemetery or wild place and donates his body to the spirits and other denizens of place to learn the nature of mental emptiness. This practice is known as ‘Chöd’, which means ‘to cut’, the central focus of practicing detachment of mind and body. It is carried out at night in the cemeteries in order to maximize the potential for working with fear and self-protection centered on the body. It also creates an extreme situation survival of which will ensure competence in other environments.
Yogins such as these were distinct in appearance from the monastic faction by sporting long hair in pigtails and beard, danced around the fire in the dark of the night with their sexual consorts, surrounded by demons of mind, which they had power to transform into their personal protectors were the ancestors of the yogins of Ladakh. They are also known as mahasiddha, ‘maha’ meaning great and ‘siddha’ is the one who posses psychic and spiritual powers.
Snap out of my thought on hearing the voice of Ankur and a little monk coming up, when he was busy looking around in the dukhang (assembly hall), had made my way on to the terrace. The concept of ‘sunyata’ or emptiness of Buddhism is well reflected in the landscape around us, a vast barrenness. However, the effect is calming even encouraging a brief sense of mind and body detachment.
We witness the magic mysticism of nature in the far off mountains and the tiny village at its foot; the shadow of the clouds caressing all that is on the way of its sail.

Please note:
* We did not meet any 'Yogin' or 'Yogini' during our travel in Ladakh, because apart from their secret and reclusive nature, in all probability none exists anymore.
* Drubchen Ngawang Tsering was a great mahasiddha born in 1717 in a poor family in the village of Ating in Ladakh.

“It is said among the wise, ‘Toa of Fire never falters due to lack of strength or courage.’ Zerkah illustrates the implied darkness of this proverb. For while a fearless warrior and inspiring leader, he cares not to sustain the present reality, and this may well prove his undoing.
Zerkah is one of the Lords of the Burning Order, leader of the Toa Vihagu, and first in line for the lordship of House Kihanu, with a noble lineage going back 5,000 years to Kihanu Noral I, knight of Edelis and mentor of the legendary prince Cadeia. Born in Talis, Zerkah was forced to flee as a child from the oncoming Malevolent horde, with his parents, Lord Kihanu Noral XIV and Lady Thrae, and cousins Mokatu and Sirac.
A firsthand witness of the destruction it has caused his home, Zerkah carries a vendetta against the Malevolent, which manifests in an almost crazed optimism that he will defeat it. The eradication of the Malevolent and liberation of all it oppresses is his end goal.
I do not doubt that Zerkah’s grudge against the Malevolent has a significant psychological impact. While he has deep sympathy for individuals living under the Malevolent’s heel, and will become great friends with those who share his vision, he regularly overlooks the interests of those who have different agendas. This has already caused tension with the more independent-minded among the Toa Vihagu.
The fate of the young Toa band, therefore, rests with the liabilities of this man…”
-Venetis, "Profiles of the Matoran Resistance".
The Knights Panther, are a Secular Order of Knights dedicated to the wholesome eradication of mutants and Chaos worshipers alike, as well as upholding the racial integrity of the Empire as a whole. Being amongst the most powerful of the Knightly Orders within the Empire, these band of Knights are well known throughout the many different cities and Imperial provinces, and are considered to be the most famous and celebrated Order within the Empire, with a history dating back to the lasting years of the Great Crusade some 2,000 years ago. From what was told, once the armies of Jaffar and the Sultans of Araby were defeated by the crusading Knights, and their cities plundered of all their belongings, the Knights of the Great Crusade brought home much plunder from the Sultans' Palaces, including gold and silver, precious gems, silks, furs, and many exotic animals the like of which had never been seen before in the Old World.
Some of the most bizarre and beautiful of these creatures were the panthers, liberated from the pleasure gardens of Al-haikk. They created such a lasting impression to the jubilant crowds cheering the return of the crusaders, that some Knights took up their exotic appearance as well, eventually making these Knights form into the Order that it is today. In time the creatures died of natural causes but their fur would be used for saddle cloths or trimming for fur cloaks, reinforcing the new Order's unique character and reminding everyone of their victories in Araby.
Today the original panthers and even their hides have eroded from history, but the memory of the Arabyan wars is maintained by wearing these exotic animal furs in their armour and clothing, symbolising their distinctive appearance to all that see it.

Boyce Thompson Arboretum is the oldest and largest botanical garden in the state of Arizona. It is one of the oldest botanical institutions west of the Mississippi River. Founded in 1924 as a desert plant research facility and “living museum”, the arboretum is located in the Sonoran Desert on 392 acres (159 ha) along Queen Creek and beneath the towering volcanic remnant, Picketpost Mountain. Boyce Thompson Arboretum is on U.S. Highway 60, an hour's drive east from Phoenix and 3 miles (4.8 km) west of Superior, Arizona.
The arboretum was founded by William Boyce Thompson (1869-1930), a mining engineer who made his fortune in the copper mining industry. He was the founder and first president of Inspiration Consolidated Copper Company at Globe-Miami, Arizona and Magma Copper Company in Superior, Arizona. In the early 1920s, Thompson, enamored with the landscape around Superior, built a winter home overlooking Queen Creek. Also in the 1920s, as his fortunes grew, he created and financed the Boyce Thompson Institute for Plant Research in Yonkers, New York (now at Cornell University), and the Boyce Thompson Arboretum on the property of the Picket Post House, west of Superior.
Boyce Thompson wrote: “I have in mind far more than mere botanical propagation. I hope to benefit the State and the Southwest by the addition of new products. A plant collection will be assembled which will be of interest not only to the nature lover and the plant student, but which will stress the practical side, as well to see if we cannot make these mesas, hillsides, and canyons far more productive and of more benefit to mankind. We will bring together and study the plants of the desert countries, find out their uses, and make them available to the people. It is a big job, but we will build here the most beautiful, and at the same time the most useful garden of its kind in the world.”[3]

The "Deepam" denotes knowledge and eradicates the darkness/ignorance in us. The Goddess Kamakshi in the form of light illuminates the knowledge in us and drives out
the ignorance. That is why we worship the Light in the form of Kamakshi. Thus the knowledge that we gain removes totally the ignorance just like the light removes darkness in the area where it is lit. The traditional oil lamp of Kamakshi Vilakku has its own spiritual significance. The oil or ghee that we use in the Deepam
to lit the 'thiri' or wick, while the deepam glows all the negative tendencies gets burnt out just like the wick. Once the wick gets burnt out, all the negative tendencies will slowly get eliminated. If one watches the wick, it always glows upwards. It means that we have every opportunity towards high thoughts and ideas, as we start worshiping the Goddess Kamakshi.
This is called an invasive by naturalists but because of the changing flavor of the word 'immigrant' in this part of the world the meaning would be similar. 'Refugee' might work if there is enough evidence. Can they be appreciated before eradication?

Scottish Industrial Armaments – Virion Limpet Rifle
Having observed both sides of the bitter stalemated conflict on the planet below us for the last half cycle, we have come to the conclusion that eradicating the threat posed by IgneTek and forming an alliance with Kyani is the best chance for our survival.
Our supplies are running low, the air locks barely keeping our wounded vessel from vacuum flooding; it is now imperative that we set up a station on the surface.
Having studied IgneTek forces, it has become apparent that their armour, as with that of Kyani troops, is impenetrable to conventional firearms and energy weapons; even the most concentrated of lasers barely graze their nanomail armour. However, they do have a weakness.
Located on their backs is a respirator/air purification system that allows them to function normally in the harsh surface environment. Our on board armoury have developed a weapon capable of exploiting this weakness.
The Virion fires a fin stabilised projectile with a high explosive round – mid flight, the tip splits into three magnetic tipped prongs designed to latch onto nanomail armour, exploding on contact. This however barely leaves a mark on the armour. Instead, it is a delivery method for a highly virulent airbourne neurotoxin, injected into each round as the trigger is pulled via a secondary magazine housed in the upper rear receiver.
On explosion, the toxin is absorbed by the respirator unit, causing near instantaneous shut down of all major nervous systems, crippling the lungs, brain and finally the heart. Death blooms in less than a minute. A secondary airburst fire mode allows for mid flight detonation, useful for neutralising groups of combatants.
The offset scope features a point lock mode that can be used to guide rounds to designated targets.
To ensure the weapon is unaffected by the surface’s violently cold environment we have reverse engineered captured extra terrestrial weapons technology. As a result, all electrical systems such as the scope, HUD, laser sight and chemical injection module are insulated by a lightweight organic crystalline mesh structure capable of operating beyond temperatures of -2500°C.

On my 200th day after first posting a Flickr foto, I bequeath this Envy Eradication Plan.
How do you handle it when others are “almost always first in” competition with life’s daily races with you. In such a situation, since the jealous person often feels powerless to compete and unable to raise herself up, she tears the other person down.
Envy does not work its evil out in the open. It works behind the scenes under the guise of good. It engages in covert operations. We read in Charles Dickens’ “A Tale of Two Cities”, Book 2, chapter 4, pg. 89 (New York Penguin Books, 2000), “[The] man shows you what you have fallen away from and what you might have been,” says Sydney Carton to himself, as he reflects upon the reason why he so loathes Charles Darnay.
Do you hate the envied person because she makes you feel inferior or guilty or ashamed of yourself? Is not the other person like a mirror in which you see a portrait of what you are not? Do you make people who you envy pay a thousand ways for their giftedness? Do you make them the brunt of jokes and talk behind their backs? Do you give them the silent treatment and “forget” to tell them information that they need to know in order for them to perform their jobs well?” Do you attempt to destroy their good names by sowing seeds of suspicion about them in the minds of your colleagues and friends?
Envy (the Latin invidia, from vedere, to see) has traditionally been associated with the eyes. Envy is the inability to look upon the goods of others with joy. Envy drains one’s life of joy and fills it with fear. St. Thomas defined envy as “sorrow for another’s goods.” But it is a projected sorrow, the sorrow that I do not have what others have. And it is a sorrow that is shot through with fear, the fear that I am less than others.
The envious person is competitive by nature; he is always comparing himself to others, forever looking out of the corner of his eye to see if his neighbor has more, or something bigger or better. The tragedy of the envious person is like that of a child who cannot rejoice in the Christmas present that he is unwrapping because he is spying the gifts that his siblings have received.
If you also have this problem, will you join with me on an elimination plan? Can each of us rid ourselves of envy, by attacking it a little bit at a time? Without always envying others, there is a better ability to find peace and joy in daily life. Guaranteed your inner being will smile more!

I would love once to have such a magazine in which I could share my taste of the fashion and accessories world
In a future shaped by the harsh realities of the climate crisis, deserts have expanded across vast areas of the world. The scarcity of water and relentless drought have rendered the land barren, while devastating wildfires have eradicated vegetation and life. In this new world, where rain has become a rare luxury, new deserts have emerged in what were once fertile regions. Humanity had forgotten that there were once peoples who lived and thrived in the desert—the nomads of the Sahara.
By a remarkable stroke of luck, a large, forgotten library was discovered in the region formerly known as Timbuktu. This discovery became a revelation, a beacon of hope in an otherwise bleak time. The library contained invaluable manuscripts and wisdom from the past, which could unveil the secrets behind the nomads' ability to survive in harsh desert conditions. In the many caves and underground grottos around Timbuktu, ancient documents were unearthed, bringing new knowledge to light.
This photo series explores the rediscovery of this forgotten wisdom, providing a glimpse into how our ancestors navigated life's challenges in the desert. Through these images, ancient truths are brought to life once more, inspiring us to learn from the nomads of the past, as we seek new paths forward in a world grappling with climate change.
In the sands of time, where dunes now rise,
A future unfolds under sunburned skies.
Forgotten whispers of a people long gone,
Nomads who thrived in the desert's dawn.
From Timbuktu's hidden troves they emerge,
Ancient tomes with knowledge to purge.
Beneath the earth, in caves so deep,
The secrets of survival, awake from sleep.
The world once forgot these sun-scorched lands,
But hope rekindles with ink-stained hands.
From parchments brittle, wisdom flows,
As past and present in the desert grows.
Haikus:
Lost in shifting sands,
Ancient voices rise again,
Nomads’ truths untold.
Dust of ages past,
Timbuktu’s wisdom revealed,
Hope in arid lands.
While the spectacular attracts, the eyes also take in those unlikely spots for plants to thrive despite all man has don to eradicate them from the scene.
....they're backkkk.....!!! LOL...after the small amount of rain we had, made these wildflowers rejoice the moisture!..another struggle to pop up. This is the same fence line of flowers the gaming landowners tried to eradicate this time last year...They put herbicide on the briar vine which is a nuisance... however in return the poison had wiped out alot of the flowers. I was afraid it would be their demise..So glad to see them return!..Hahahaha to them!! HA!

///LOG ENTRY\\\
Year: Some years after Battle of Jakku
Timeline: One month after meeting with Zach & The Survivor leaders
Planet: Zeffo
Mission: Eradicate all Imperial occupants, free the local natives of the planet
________________________________________________
"So let me just say... never let Clang try to negotiate ever again..."
'...You know what you did! If you just shut your mouth, we wouldn't had that......I don't care who's fault it was! You are still responsible for that outcome!'
'*Sighs* Again, why do I have him with me?'
'Anyways...a month after we had met with Zach and the leaders of The Survivors, we were contacted by them for our first real assignment. Apparently, from what reports suggested, Imperial presence has been revealed on the planet of Zeffo. Honestly, I had thought we had cleared them out years ago when another Jedi survivor went to that planet. But I guess you can't scare the Empire out so easily. Guess it's our turn now...'
'When we entered Zeffo's orbit in our fighters, we were told that there were multiple sectors of Imperial strongholds across the mountain terrains and plains. Although we were the only ones in the atmosphere, we were able to spot a few sites with smoke and blaster fire coming from multiple outposts and fortresses, which would indicate that some Survivor soldiers were on the ground as we speak. Which means...we would need to act fast.'
'Landing our fighters stealthily in a large crevice of two mountains, we made our way around the mountain and towards one of the many strongholds on the planet. The information about this one was that this was a research facility, one that had been specifically hidden away in the mountains, and away from other obvious outposts that you could see from the naked eye. We knew very little about what they were doing inside, but the Survivor leaders requested us to download any and all files containing any imperial information that they wouldn't want anyone to know. I figured that the less we knew, the more fun it was for us.'
'Halfway up the large mountain, we finally spotted our target; two platforms connected to one another, one for soldier capacity and the other for a large dish network for communication. Before we headed up, I wanted to get some reconnaissance on our enemy, so I sent Garsheen to take a quick look with his jetpack and binoculars. Complying, he headed up towards the mountain, keeping himself at a safe distance between him and any nearby enemies on the platforms. Me and Clang waited for a bit, chatting amongst ourselves about the past and a few other others before Garsheen came back down with an update. Surprisingly, there were only a few guards on the platform to deal with, much to Clang's dismay. I told him and Garsheen to expect the unexpected, cause you never know what the Empire will throw at us.'
'And sadly...I was right.'
After we made our way up the mountain quietly, we immediately reached the right side of the platform, peaking over to see the guards that Garsheen was talking about. Without hesitation, we took them all down with our blasters and pistols and immediately got to work on the doors that was build into the mountain. With his skills, Garsheen sliced through the doors and we made our way with ease. We made quick work with the other Imperial loyalist inside and was able to reach the command center, slicing into their systems and retrieving any data we could fine. While it was downloading, I did spot something that made a few repeats over the data again and again. The few words were: 2-5-6, MOFF and QAZ. None of it made much sense, but I left it as it was as we quickly made haste out of the facility, hoping that none of the nearby Imperial soldiers heard us.'
'And just as I said earlier, they did as they were waiting for us outside. Just as the doors slid open, we were greeted with a large squad of stormtroopers. There were about eight soldiers, one engineer, and some kind of elite black trooper. Apparently, he must have be the squad leader of some sorts. However, when the trooper spoke, it wasn't a man, but a woman. Sure could have fooled us."
________________________________________________
Woman Trooper: General Jisza Vylon of the New Republic, you and your team are surrounded. Lay down your firearms and surrender to us, or be shot on the spot.
Jisza looked between Garsheen and Clang, nodding ever so slightly to each other before replying back to the woman officer.
Jisza: Yeah...not gonna happen, lady.
Woman Trooper: Too bad. Cause I wasn't going to give you a choice anwyays......kill them!
Just as the Imperials raised their weapons at them, Jisza immediately summoned the Force and sent five stormtroopers off the platform and down to their deaths. Clang and Garsheen quickly wiped out their own firearms and began blasting at the enemy. Garsheen jetpacked towards where they had climbed up to as Clang ran behind cover near their exit, blasting the enemy with his old DC-17 blaster. While the enemy soldiers took position on the other side, the black trooper and Jisza began their fight with one another, his lightsaber deflecting her blaster shots.
The battle didn't last very long as the last of the stormtrooper drops to the ground with a blaster shot in the head, while the engineer was shot by Garsheen and fell right off the platform as well. Meanwhile, Jisza kept up the attack as the black trooper was getting more furious with not being able to keep up with the New Republic general. She halted their attack as Jisza aimed his saber at her, Clang and Garsheen walking up next to him with their own firearms raised as well.
Jisza: It's over, Imperial. Surrender!
Woman Trooper: ...Never...
Pulling something out from her belt, she pushes a button on the device as the sound of a large explosion was heard coming from inside the stronghold. The platform shook, causing Jisza and the others to wobble around trying to keep their balance. The trooper took her chance and ran towards the railings, jumping right off the platform. When the violent quake ended, Jisza and the others rushed towards the edge as they immediately heard the sound of a TIE-Fighter, slowly appearing right before them from below. The trooper's voice echoed out before making her escape;
Woman Trooper: The commander sends his regards, Vylon! He will get his revenge soon enough!
With that, the fighter swooped up towards the sky before jumping through hyperspace from the atmosphere. Jisza's eyes was still transfixed towards the skies, a surprise look on his face completely stunning him. Clang and Garsheen noticed this, and asked him if he was alright. He looked to the two of them before slightly shaking his head, his look of disbelief still plastered on his face.
Jisza: No...no I'm not.
Garsheen: Who was that? What did that woman mean about "revenge"?
Jisza: I don't know...but I do know one thing...
Clang: What's that?
Jisza looked to Clang and muttered only a few words, causing Clang's eyes and expression to change as well. The only one that was confused was Garsheen, who looked at them both with a questionable look.
Jisza: Throte...he's still alive...

This was a lot of fun, especially when you tie in your own kind of stories into another one lol!
So this was a mission build called "Raid of Zeffo", and I must say, it was quite a task to try and come up with. I will admit, I probably could have added a bit of white for snow texture and what not, but my main focus was more on the rocky terrain detailing and looks. Probably not the best looking design, but it's much better than my original rocky builds. In all, I am happy with it.
I hope you all enjoyed, and please, let me know what you think down below in the comments. Also, leave a fav and follow for more of my team and I's content. Have a fan-building-tastic day! See ya' next year!

Reindeer (Rangifer tarandus), were introduced to South Georgia by Norwegian whalers in the early 20th century. They reached high densities and caused much environmental damage and they have now been eradicated from the entire island.
On Day 6 of our birding holiday in South Texas, 24 March 2019, we left our hotel in Kingsville, South Texas, and started our drive to Mission, where we would be staying at La Quinta Inn & Suites for three nights. On the first stretch of our drive, we were lucky enough to see several bird species, including a Golden-fronted Woodpecker, Hooded Oriole, Red-tailed Hawk, Crested Caracara, Harris's Hawk, Pyrrhuloxia male (looks similar to a Cardinal) and a spectacular Scissor-tailed Flycatcher. I'm not sure if this stretch is called Hawk Alley.
We had a long drive further south towards Mission, with only a couple of drive-by photos taken en route (of a strangely shaped building). Eventually, we reached our next planned stop, the National Butterfly Centre. This was a great place, my favourite part of it being the bird feeding station, where we saw all sorts of species and reasonably close. Despite the name of the place, we only saw a few butterflies while we were there. May have been the weather or, more likely, the fact that I was having so much fun at the bird feeding station. We also got to see Spike, a giant African Spurred Tortoise. All the nature/wildlife parks that we visited in South Texas had beautiful visitor centres and usually bird feeding stations. And there are so many of these parks - so impressive!

"Ten years ago, the North American Butterfly Association broke ground for what has now become the largest native plant botanical garden in the United States. This 100-acre preserve is home to Spike (who thinks he is a butterfly) and the greatest volume and variety of wild, free-flying butterflies in the nation. In fact, USA Today calls the National Butterfly Center, in Mission, Texas, 'the butterfly capitol of the USA'." From the Butterfly Centre's website.
The Centre is facing huge challenges, as a result of the "Border Wall". The following information is from the Centre's website.
www.nationalbutterflycenter.org/about-nbc/maps-directions...
"No permission was requested to enter the property or begin cutting down trees. The center was not notified of any roadwork, nor given the opportunity to review, negotiate or deny the workplan. Same goes for the core sampling of soils on the property, and the surveying and staking of a “clear zone” that will bulldoze 200,000 square feet of habitat for protected species like the Texas Tortoise and Texas Indigo, not to mention about 400 species of birds. The federal government had decided it will do as it pleases with our property, swiftly and secretly, in spite of our property rights and right to due process under the law."
"What the Border Wall will do here:
1) Eradicate an enormous amount of native habitat, including host plants for butterflies, breeding and feeding areas for wildlife, and lands set aside for conservation of endangered and threatened species-- including avian species that migrate N/S through this area or over-winter, here, in the tip of the Central US Flyway.
2) Create devastating flooding to all property up to 2 miles behind the wall, on the banks of the mighty Rio Grande River, here.
3) Reduce viable range land for wildlife foraging and mating. This will result in greater competition for resources and a smaller gene pool for healthy species reproduction. Genetic "bottlenecks" can exacerbate blight and disease.
IN ADDITION:
4) Not all birds can fly over the wall, nor will all butterfly species. For example, the Ferruginous Pygmy Owl, found on the southern border from Texas to Arizona, only flies about 6 ft in the air. It cannot overcome a 30 ft vertical wall of concrete and steel.
5) Nocturnal and crepuscular wildlife, which rely on sunset and sunrise cues to regulate vital activity, will be negatively affected by night time flood lighting of the "control zone" the DHS CBP will establish along the wall and new secondary drag roads. The expansion of these areas to vehicular traffic will increase wildlife roadkill.
6) Animals trapped north of the wall will face similar competition for resources, cut off from native habitat in the conservation corridor and from water in the Rio Grande River and adjacent resacas. HUMANS, here, will also be cut off from our only source of fresh water, in this irrigated desert.
This is a seed head kinda like dandelion but about ten times as large. you see them around where I live, but only rarely. I think they are an invasive species they are trying to eradicate.

Sandhi Puja -
An integral and important part of Durga Puja, Sandhi Puja is performed at the juncture of the 8th and 9th lunar day. Sandhi puja lasts from the last 24 minutes of Ashtami till the first 24 minutes of Nabami. During this juncture (the "Sandhikhan"), Durga is worshipped in her Chamunda form. Devi Durga killed, Chando and Mundo, the two asuras at "Sandhikhan" and thus acquired the name of "Chamunda".
Myth behind Durga being worshipped as Chamunda -
While the Goddess and Mahishasura were engaged in a fierce battle, the two generals of Mahisha, Chando and Mundo attacked the Devi from the the rear. Durga appeared to them, a brilliantly glowing woman with her hair knotted on her head, a crescent moon above her forehead, a 'tilak' on her forehead and a garland around her neck. With golden earrings and clad in a yellow saari she emitted a golden glow. Her ten hands possessed ten different weapons. Though she appeared beautiful her face turned blue with anger when she faced Chondo and Mundo. From her third eye then emerged a Devi with a large falchion and a shield. She had a large face, bloody tongue and sunken blood shot eyes. She was Chamunda. With a bloodcurdling shriek she leapt forward and killed them. This moment was the juncture of the 8th and 9th lunar day.
Age old yardsticks for measuring the "Sandhikhan" -
Long back devotees in order to perform the Sandhi Puja at the exact juncture used a number of methods. With the last 24 mins. of the Ashtami puja still left, a bronze bowl with a tiny hole was placed in a bucket full of water. The bowl with the tiny hole was made in such a way that it took exactly 24 minutes for the bowl to submerge in the water. The moment the bowl submerged in the water cannon balls were
fired announcing this moment of Sandhi Puja. This yardstick for measuring the "Sandhikhan" was very popular ages ago in many "Rajbaris". Many "Rajbaris", including, the zamindar of Sutanuti of Sobhabajar Rajbari fired cannon balls to announce the "Sandhikhan". People around Sobhabajar waited for this indication to proceed with their puja. King of Krishnanagar, Raja Krishna Chandra, was given the
cannon of Plassey as a gift from Robert Clive. In Shikharbhum Rajbari a platter with vermillion (sindur) used to be kept in front of the Devi. It is said the foot prints of the Devi could be seen in the platter. This moment indicated the commencement of Sandhi Puja. Sabarno Raychoudhury of Barisha worshipped the Chamunda Devi by burning 'Layta' and 'Pholui' (types of fishes) fishes.
Things needed to perform Sandhi Puja -
Sandhi Puja requires 108 lotus flowers, a single fruit, dry rice grain for "noibiddo", 108 earthen lamps, clothes, jewelry, hibiscus garlands and wood apple (bel) leaves. The almost non existent rituals which underwent changes with the changes in the society can still be seen in some of the 200-250 year old Pujas.
Pigeons in Vancouver BC have become an increasing problem for many residents. The city enacted a bylaw controlling their control and since it is difficult for pest companies to eradicate the pest and they have exploded in population.
Yes, many of us love pigeons because they are associated with love, peace, family, dedication, stability, faithfulness …but to be honest, mostly we would like to see them far away from our balconies, roofs and houses.
Most city pigeons are descended from cultivated pigeons that became wild. They breed frequently, multiplying at a rapid rate, and have become a substantial problem for the people they live beside. When they were in captivity and bred for profit, their fast reproduction was an advantage. But when they started to breed as free agents they became a nuisance.
Did You Know?
Pigeon fact: Droppings cause vegetation to decay, leading to order problems.
Pigeon fact: Pigeons are not migratory.
Pigeon fact: One pigeon can deposit over 11 kilograms of droppings per year.
Pigeon fact: Pigeon nests can cause fires on electrical signs.
Wherever there are people, there are pigeons. They are descended from rock doves, which were originally domesticated for food and pets. Released birds are the forebears of today’s pigeon infestations, which plague cities across the globe. And because they have no natural enemies, pigeons have become the number one avian pest by far. The following are some more pigeon facts for Vancouver homeowners:
Habitat
Everywhere people are found. Pigeons are especially numerous in urban areas and can be found in public parks as well as more industrialized, developed spaces. They nest in areas that protect them from the elements such as lofts, attics, and under architectural ornamentation.
Breeding
Pigeons are monogamous and will lay one to two eggs, which hatch in about 18 days. They reproduce year-round with the young leaving the nest after four to six weeks, during which time more eggs are laid.
Food and Feeding
They will eat just about anything!
Morphology and Lifestyle
Length: 27 centimeters on average
Weight: 370 grams on average

My Most Powerful Villain Characters
You get what this is about :P
(Top to bottom - from most powerful to least)
Halo: A Genetically Engineered weapon who was created by humans to be a desired host for the most powerful weapon on the planet. The alien tech grants the user unimaginable powers to defend the planet from extraterrestrial threats and keep humanity safe. However the engineered human used it against humanity in the future to eradicate every meta on the planet within a week to create a safer world for normal humans. He slaughtered both hero and villain alike without remorse because of him perceiving them as a threat and now hunts down the few meta survivors which are attempting to travel back in time and thwart his attempts of meta annihilation.
OP Ability: Can incinerate organic items with just a look.
Evol: This alien comes from a powerful species who's females all died out, with only a limited number left they branched out across the galaxy to find other desirable Mates capable of providing female offspring to save their species. However their mating ritual is to literally defeat all the strong rival males on the planet first then select a suitable female to breed with, once this happens the offspring (if male) will develop into a fully grown member of the species within a couple days and rule the planet to "mark it" as their own.
OP Ability: Can shatter a planet with just a flurry of punches.
Dr. Toxic: Truly a ruthless villain that runs one of the largest illegal science research facilities across the globe. Once a brilliant scientist this man eventually became one of the most infamous criminal beings on Earth and is pretty much untouchable with the amount of resources he possesses, it is believed he essentially created the first Metas on Earth back in the 1940's and developed millions of them over the years. He may not like to get his hands dirty but when he does he is capable of defeating large waves of some of the most powerful heroes on the planet because of his variation of powers and unique ability.
OP Ability: He can nullify a beings strongest powers and reduce them to have the same attributes as an average human temporarily just by touch.
Phantom: This man was once an anti-meta soldier fighting in the Serbia war against a Metahuman uprising, until he discovered he in fact was a Metahuman. His ability was activated when he came in contact with an enemy which caused him to be betrayed by his fellow squad and outcasted. Rather than become what he despised to get revenge he used his ability to his advantage by weakening Metas behind enemy lines to redeem himself for being a Meta to the military.
OP Ability: He can obtain multiple abilities forever from metas and keep them stored and ready to be used whenever he desires via close contact.
Hybrid: A meta who quickly discovered his ability to unlock his powerful beast form from a young age. As he got older he quickly grew stronger and more savage which allowed him to battle with multiple Metahuman heroes and become a greatly feared villain because of his rare powers.
OP Ability: His strength, durability, speed, healing and stamina rapidly increases to double that of his foes capabilities, this allows him to best his rival when in close combat no matter how fast or strong they are.
DetonHate: A member of the Bomb Disposal Unit that looked up to many heroes and inspire him to do his job. However when he encountered a unique device that released a mutagen he would soon become a living bomb with a unique ability that caused mass chaos without intention of him doing so. Despite him being terrified and seeking help he would swiftly be attacked by a group of unprofessional heroes that treated him as a regular villain, he would then later escape and become a villain himself when joining T.O.X.I.N. which is helping him to control his powers.
OP Ability: Any metallic substance he touches explodes in a large blast of green energy minutes after coming into contact with his skin.
Bulletstorm: One of a select group of children that were used for a dark experiment called, Project Bloodbath. This man endured horrific augmentation to become a living weapon which had blood manipulation abilities, when he witnessed a fellow prisoner escape and he thought they would return with help. For days it would be his only shimmer of hope but eventually it was crushed when nobody came to rescue him. This sent him over the edge and he became the weapon the organisation wanted him to be, he became Bulletstorm.
OP Ability: He can create an infinite amount of ammunition by using his enemies blood or his own and manipulate it into self-reloading his weaponry during combat. This allows him to fire his dual UZI's continuously when in combat without the need to reload.
Destron: Although this guy only had super strength and stamina he always seemed to be defeated by heroes, so he upped his game and purchased a unique suit created from the indestructible alien metal known as, Destrite. This allows him to be coated in an indestructible suit whilst maintaining his super strength and stamina to compensate for the weight of it. He has endured many wounds that would have been fatal before though such as he survived an all out punch by the powerhouse Hero know as, Hope.
OP Ability: Is pretty much indestructible and sealed in a protective suit to stop any internal damage to his body.
Miss Sting: For some reason she is deemed a C-Lister because of her appearance when in theory she is extremely powerful. She is an environmental terrorist that gets her messages across through violent acts and brawls with heroes, she is often mocked for her full body orange skintight suit but that's only so it matches her dangerous ability.
OP Ability: She can generate two huge tentacles that erupt form her sides, this allows her to bring down skyscrapers and even launch items into near orbit with how strong they are. They are both regenerative and conduct massive amounts of electricity which when "stung" is fatal, her stings often incapacitate the strongest and toughest of heroes as well as villains for up to days before they can recover.
