Adobe Lr 5 - Close up of the equine eye - 2/2014

A couple of fenced-in horses don't seem too thrilled about having their pictures taken.

A CH-53K King Stallion from HMH-461 'Ironhorse' down low over the Colorado River during a training flight as part of a deployment for training at MCAS Yuma in March 2023. While the Yuma DFT was largely to provide aircraft and crews to support the CH-53K's first participation in the Marine Corps' Weapons and Tactics Instructor course, junior crews used the deployment as an opportunity to build flight hours in the 'Kilo' over the vast training spaces of the desert southwest.

Shot for my article on HMH-461 in the November 2023 issue of Combat Aircraft Journal.

made attempts at getting a somewhat serious portrait virtually impossible. Cav just wouldn't cooperate. Morgans really have a mind of their own. Keep you on your toes and in your saddle. or NOT!

Not technically a macro shot because I didn't have that lens with me, but I reckon it still turned out alright.

The Camargue horse is an ancient breed of horse indigenous to the Camargue area in southern France. Its origins remain relatively unknown, although it is generally considered one of the oldest breeds of horses in the world. The Camargue is located to the south of Arles, France.

Looking out lost in dreams

Soaking up the light that streams

Ready to gallop when fate does ride

Across the wild, wild , countryside

Where tails will flow, mane will fly

The sound of hooves will fill the sky

The tranquil strangeness of this idyllic scene is due to the lack of shadows. The translucent clouds filtered the usually blaring mid-July sun's light, thus naturally reducing the contrasts.

A new friend asked me if I'd take pictures of her riding on her ranch, so I did. I've never done this before and certainly don't do many action shots. I learned a lot and hope to have another crack at it.

It's common to come across caraven of working horses, donkeys and mules carry backbreaking heavy loads climbing steep terrains in the mountains as they are a fundamental part of the lives of the Nepalese who rely on them in the mountains.

For 121 pictures in 2021 #30 "Equine", I started to put on a telephoto for the horses, but then decided to capture the whole scene. The horse wearing the t-shirt really needs its laundry done. If you don't see the ducks, look harder - they are in the pond in the middle. This was taken from the fence line of a large property at the edge of town.

A friendly horse at Warwick. Loved its slightly ruffled look.

This pair was nuzzling each other the whole time I was there.

Horses have a ' lead or leave ' policy. If it senses a clear vision and security , it is happy to follow.

Dare to Dream having his teeth done.

Another one of those Being at the right place at the right time moments!

This Method of castration is very easy to use. Although I was very skeptical in the beginning about it’s safety today I am very pleased with the safety, time and cleanness that it provides.
