The biggest problem that I had (and apparently the Bee-eaters had as well) were the high winds which wouldn't stop for a second. I could barely set my tent, and when I finally was able to, I had to hold it from the inside with one hand, otherwise it would fly off. The Bee-eaters had a similar problem; they could barely land on the perches in front of me. But that gave me a chance to capture many action shots.

This is a mural in Toronto, Equilibrium, by the world famous Spanish street artist, Okuda San Miguel. The mural is 23 storeys high, depicting the history and communities of the surrounding area.

Being around in the Wildsee Moor in Northern Black Forest is always a great time. It is an awesome wild place with pristine nature. On this day, we had an overcast sky, so I tried to pick out interesting details next to the lake. This little birch tree really stood out to me and was well worth the shot.

I just wanted to let you, all my Flickr friends, know that I will be off Flickr for a bit. I have been sick for quite some time and am having surgery in a few days that is supposed to cure me. I don't know how long the recovery will be, but when I'm feeling up to it, I'll be back.

For me maintaining a calm state of mind is essential. I have bipolar disorder. It has sometimes made me extremely ill.
Many years after my first hospitalised episode I discovered my diagnosis. I researched the illness and created my own self-management plan to stay well.
I have been free of episodes for nearly 20 years. Photography is an essential part of my plan.
