Emily Charming South African Model Posing with Friends for a Portrait Photoshoot at Lulama Kunene South African Band Performance at The Equator Club Old City Philadelphia April 28 1993

With Emily from Dube Soweto. This was my first time photographing this Beautiful Lady

At the Equator monument outside Quito. The line shows where the equator passes thru. The Equator also passes through the tower barely visible on the distant peak.

In 1963, my dad crossed the Equator for the 1st time on his naval ship, the USS Providence. As is tradition in the Navy, you are considered a Polywog until you cross the Equator, at which time you become a Shellback. There is much tomfoolery during this ceremony. According to my dad, the polywogs were forced on to the deck, in their tighty whities. Their mouths were swabbed with mops soaked in swill. They are forced to do many humiliating acts. My dad had written a newsletter under a nom de plume for the polywogs, lamb basting the Shellbacks with incendiary remarks. When the ceremony took place, an innocent ensign was taken as the writer of the newsletter & felt the rath of the Shellbacks. My dad got off scott-free.

You can see the celestial equator in this shot on the right where the circular pattern made by the stars starts to switch to and opposite pattern

This is the original jpeg, straight form the camera with no editing.

see EXIF for more details.

Done using Samyang 12 mm f/2.2 lens with 15 min exposure. I tried to capture the celestial equator. The stars above the diagonal of the photo are diverging to the north while the stars below it are diverging in the opposite direction to the south.

Caterpillars on Equator do not happen are covered by decorative prickles and hairs - they will be always very poisonous.
