So look what just turned up today at Pennant Hills, in northern Sydney!!

It's travelled through a time-tunnel, all the way from 1965.

I visited the Pennant Hills Market Place late this afternoon for coffee at the cool 'Leaf' cafe, and also to buy some sashimi from Pennant Hills Seafood, and then, upon walking back to the car parked on Ramsay Road - there it was!!! A Cadillac!!!

Like it had been there since 1965. Amazing.

This is an entry-level Cadillac from 1965. And here is one of the biggest songs from 1965: 'Day Tripper' by The Beatles.

Perfect for a Cadillac, lol.

And, as you may note, this Cadillac is obviously imported from America because look where the steering wheel is - on the left hand side of the car. How weird is this!! This Cadillac has not been converted to right hand drive, lol.

========================

I bought this camera for my son as an ideal tool to learn 35mm analogic photography.

It's a Soviet made Lomo Smena Symbol, from 1982 (as per serial number). All the controls are linked to symbols easy to understand to adjust aperture, speed and focus. And being made of plastic it's extremely cheap.

I have been very busy the last couple of weeks, work, family, chores, visiting aged people and helping the church are some of the things which kept me so busy and offline.

Another thing which kept me busy was my children's activities. Seen in this photo, is not one of my children but one of a couple of photos I took at one of these events.

This was a school acrobatics event which took place for a larger competition which is organized by Randfontein Arts and Culture Association (RACA).

After work on a Saturday (2019-08-17) I went to the RACA which were held in Randfontein at one of the schools. There were hundreds of people and participants from other schools as well competing in this event.

The event was already running late. When we finished up much later at night it was already running three and a half hours late. The children performed very well despite of all the challenges.

I brought my camera along knowing that it would be a loooooooong and boring night. I had a great challenge to keep me busy. Low light, movement, long distance and limited entry level camera equipment.

I used the Nikon Nikkor AF-P 70-300mm DX lens. ( I know, not the best lens for low light, but the distance I had to cover was great)

Timing was important and I had to anticipate where the participants would pause for a second to take a picture.

All ended well and I gained some experience.

I can definitely see the advantage that a higher end camera and/or a full frame camera would have had in this situation. I had to bump the ISO up quite some bit to make up for the low light performance of the lens and the ISO characteristics of my entry level DSLR.

Using the Nikon Nikkor AF-P 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3 ED VR DX lens.

Freehand and full manual.

Critique is welcomed.

Thank you all very much for your visits, favs and comments.

Karen needs the computer to write report cards for the Grade I class she is currently teaching, and I am down with the galloping crud, so it might take me a day or two to get around to everyone. But don't worry, I will get around to see you. You're my buds.

The DeSoto was a brand of automobile manufactured and marketed by the Chrysler Corporation from 1928 to 1961. The DeSoto logo featured a stylized image of Hernando de Soto. For you comic buffs, Cosmo Fishhawk in "Shoe" drives a 59 DeSoto, and Ernie in "The Pirhana Club" drives a 57 DeSoto.

Hey young men of 1973, here's your chance to rebel against "dad" and his corny choices of shoes and cameras!

This particular twig was too photogenic to walk past.

Partly because I dont really have any true macro lenses, and partly because the background was largely a mess with only a small window of tidiness, I shot it at 300mm. I had to stop down to f/18 just to get an inch of DOP. But I eventually got a good outcome

This picture makes me think of the ELO song Mr Blue Sky.

OK, this is just another one of my crazy test shots.

The 1979 Nikon EM entry level 35mm film camera and the late version of the 50mm f/1.8 Series E lens. The EM camera had it own Series E lenses and a SB-E flash released especially for the camera, but work on any Nikon 35mm SLR. I was testing my old AI-S AF 35-70mm f/2.8 lens on my D700 to get a feel for how it would shot. This was the first standard mid-range zoom lens with a constant aperture of 2.8 by Nikon, and was released in 1987.

Palestinian artist and activist, Sami Musa came to the fore with Mohammed Khatib when they made miniatures of israeli symbols of occupation.

Here's one of his pieces in Banksy's Dismaland.

A 1954 Ford “Pop” Popular 2-door, “sit-up-and-beg” compact saloon, [103E], painted in black sits atop a two-car transporter on property belonging to the famous Mathewson family auction house in Thornton-Le-Dale, Ryedale, North Yorkshire, U.K. The car has an age-related six-character black plate - “323 YUA”, which was first registered in May 2010, indicating that this rust-free RHD car may in fact be an import from overseas, such as Australia, New Zealand, or South Africa. Or perhaps it is a restored example, which was re-registered using a six-character plate? The badges on the front grille are of an old-style AA badge, and two badges from the Ford Popular registry, and the Ford sidevalve owners club.

The 1953-’59 Ford Popular 103E was the basic budget entry-level buy for postwar austerity Britain. The car sold for under £400 (roughly £9,050 adjusted in today’s money), and some years later the “Pop” became a homegrown favourite for British hot rodders.

Following over a year's worth of educating in level 3 photography I began to improve in confidence and in my skills. I enjoyed a project photographing local people and places that involved introducing myself and asking strangers for permission to take their photo in an environmental portrait. This one shows a painter in his overalls with by his ladder with his buckets of paint as I he painted a local pub The White House white. I made sure to include the pub's name as it mentions colour in the name to match the painter theme. I used the rule-of thirds in the composition and underexposed slightly as the white colours of the pub were strongly highlighted by the sunlight.

A leveret brings fresh intrigue to the typical bunny photo with that unfamiliar face and tousled hair. Check out the incredible texture of its fur! Zooming into this image is almost as exciting as exploring fractals.
