Wendy started with English lessons for local staff - it's amazing how enthusiastic they are and eager to learn!
Today I was studying "Dulce Et Decorum est" with my Y10 class - the class divided the poem into twelve "scenes" and we're doing a freeze-frame for each one. I took a photo of the freeze-frames and have since done my tackiest Photoshop make-over job on them - this is Scene 5.....
Tomorrow we're going to finish the rest and make them into a slideshow video.
If anyone is interested in sending grade school level books for these children, please let me know and I will give you the APO address. Postage is only for the US...overseas shipping is free.
Fred fronts a band that is slowly gaining notoriety beyond his hometown of Ville de Quebec. Every week he takes English lessons with my aunt Barb. They translate songs he likes, or that he's going to cover in his live show. He speaks very good conversational English, but is trying to perfect his pronunciation. Consonant-to-vowel elisions are particularly challenging. Tonight he was going over Adele's "Someone Like You" and Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Simple Man," both of which he's going to cover for a battle of the bands, held at a local pub on September 25th. The week before, he has a meeting with a producer in Toronto. Go listen to him at f-redmusic [dot] com.

obviously, the hotel people had important business-oriented customers in mind, talking abont and being interrupted by their mobiles ringing while having lunch and dinner. so they are advised to use that one particular door instead of the phone.
