I had the afternoon off this past Friday, so I visited the More than Just a Yardage Sale at the Textile Museum of Canada. I didn't get anything for myself, but I did want to find something for Robin (whom I met in person for the first time on Saturday!). I found this and thought it was perfect, although I find Robin doesn't really sew with a lot of brown fabric...But it had text and fussy-cuttable images, so hey! And it was only after buying it and opening it up that I realized it was all grammatical parts of sentences -- pretty endearing to me, since I sometimes do freelance editing work:)
Anyway, the two metre piece lives with her now. I hope she likes it!

I went to martinlutherkingaqp.blogspot.com and it was all cool until I came across the picture of Mitt Romney (gasp!) on the banner for their course on public speaking. Farther down was the logo for G.R.A.S.P, God Reaching All of Southern Peru. Hmm.

Can't remember whose flickrstream I originally saw this shop on. [edit - see first comment below for credit]
I've often passed the local Ghalyoon House - or hubble bubble joint - and wanted to check it out. They rather give one the feel of being in some out of town saloon by virtue of those whom frequent them.
I was itching to get a shot of the masses of Turk (Azeri) fellas as they chugged away, but was worried for a "well, looky what we have here Hamid!". That me and my friend arrived with arms full of shopping didn't help make us fit in. But then again, we'd just gotten our 800 Toman hair cut (40p) and thus were perfectly styled for the occasion.
The only shot I did get was this one as all the burly types raced out to watch (maybe join in) a fight that was going on outside.
If you're in the area, two teas and a ghalyoon will set you back 1200 Tomans, or around 60p.
