Over 90 newly certified law enforcement officers graduated from the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy (TLETA) at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016 during a ceremony held at Hermitage Hills Baptist Church (3475 Lebanon Pike, Hermitage, TN).
Graduates of Basic Police School Class 1813 will serve the following police departments (PD), sheriffs’ offices (SO), and state agencies:

The Denver office of the Drug Enforcement Agency honored Sgt. 1st Class Liam Nevins at their annual Maltz Challenge, March 11, 2016. Nevins, a Colorado Army National Guard member, was killed in action at Forward Operating Base Shank in Afghanistan during his fourth deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Sept. 21, 2013.
The Maltz Challenge, began in 2007, as a the result of the vision of a handful of DEA special agents who wanted to honor the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, Coast Guard, and DEA personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice to preserve our freedom. The Maltz Challenge is named after Air Force Master Sgt. Michael Maltz. Maltz was a pararescue jumper who was killed in action during a medical evacuation of sick Afghan children in March 2003.
The full Maltz consists of: 400-meter run; 50 pull ups; 100-meter fireman’s carry or 200-meter farmer’s walk with 50- or 25-pound dumbbells; 50 dips; 100 push-ups; 50 knees-to-elbows; 100 sit ups; 400-meter run.

The Virginia Beach Law Enforcement Memorial Service is held each year to honor those officers who made the ultimate sacrifice serving and protecting the citizens of Virginia Beach. This year’s ceremony, normally held in May, was held on Oct 18th due to COVID. With honors presented by Police, Sheriff and Navy personnel, Flowers were placed in a wreath for fallen Police Officers, Sheriff Officers and Navy Master At Arms.
