The Philippine Energy Efficiency Project has distributed compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) nationwide in exchange for their incandescent bulbs. Each CFL is expected to save customers 400 pesos, around $8.50, each year for the next 7 to 10 years.

Illumetric: Art Sculpture Lighting

The City of West Hollywood, through its Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission, presents Illumetric—a triptych of massive diamond, cube and rectangle-shaped sculptures brought to the city by Shana Mabari.
Mabari's latest work is installed on the median of the 8400 block of Santa Monica Boulevard (between La Cienega Boulevard and Orlando Avenue) as part of the City of West Hollywood’s Art on the Outside program.
Illumetric's diamond, cube and rectangle-shaped pieces radiate colors of red, blue and yellow. Throughout the day they will change from saturated hues to a transparent and ethereal glow as illumination effect takes place after the sun goes down. The pieces capture and interact with the ephemeral qualities of daylight, and feature internal LED illumination for nighttime display, emphasizing light as an intangible but physical and communal presence at any hour.
To light up the cube and rectangle-shaped sculptures, they used LEDtronics LED T8 tube lights. A total of 48 LED T8 tube lights of lengths from 2 to 4 feet were used in all. The 2-foot LED T8 only uses 9 watts and replaces 16W to 18W fluorescent tube lights. The 3-foot LED tube lights only use 13 watts and replace 25W to 30W fluorescent tube lights. The 4-foot LED T8s only use 18 watts and replace 32W to 36W fluorescent lights.

A grocery store in Virginia installed our high-quality LED T8 tubes into their freezers. Our 5-foot bi-pin LED tube lights fit into standard G-13 bases and are designed with a smaller tube diameter to accommodate the space inside food coolers and freezers and display cases.
Additionally, the minimal lamp heat output of LEDs over that produced by incandescent lamps keeps temperatures inside the coolers and freezers optimally lower. That means the LED tubes save on display case and freezer air-conditioning costs. As well, with their much wider ambient operating temperature and humidity ranges, the LED tube lights have a greater performance in cold freezer-type applications where fluorescents have high failure rates.

The WTB campus courtyard includes two bubbling water features for focal point and calming effect, bicycle racks to promote bicycle commuting and cut down on vehicle carbon emissions, sheltered bus stop, improved courtyard travel (lean rails and benches for multiple rest stops), covered sidewalks systems enhanced by appropriate landscape and direct entrances and exits.
Fort Hood’s new Warrior Transition Brigade Complex is a $62 million, 15-acre campus that includes a 30,137 square-foot battalion headquarters, a 15,000 square-foot company headquarters, a 192,000 square-foot 320-person barracks and a 15,000 square-foot Soldiers and Family Assistance Center that includes child-care facilities and a modern playground. The new facility, which held a ribbon-cutting ceremony June 6, improves care for wounded, injured and ill Soldiers and their Families because services are now centrally located and within walking distance. The new WTB campus allows WTB Soldiers to work, train and socialize as a group to create tighter bonds that have proven to be helpful in a Soldier’s healing.
The new barracks, which can house up to 320 Soldiers, include a selection of ADA-compliant rooms with roll-in showers, kitchen counters and desks to accommodate wheel chairs and wheelchair-accessible washer and dryers. Handrails are installed throughout hallways as well as in all private bathrooms.
All four buildings are eco friendly with design solutions that conserve energy, water efficient and self-sustainable. The buildings have solar panels that provide about 30% of energy used to heat hot water as well as standing seam metal roofs that lower the buildings' solar reflectivity index, which reduces heat and cooling costs. Other energy efficiency enhancements include motion sensing lights, high-efficiency window systems and non-water using urinals that use a biodegradable liquid for sanitary and odor free environment and dual flush toilets will save up to 30 gallons of water. The WT Operations building is LEED Silver Level certified.
Landscaping considerations include using native trees and grass that are grouped together by similar watering needs and selected for their hardiness, availability and drought tolerance.
The WT complex, by using durable finishes and efficient systems, is designed for a 25-year life span before renovation. It has an estimated 50-year life span with renovations.

Each room is equipped with a single bed, computer desk with hutch, walk-in closet, ceiling fans, full-length mirror, night stand, ergonomic task chair, dresser and lamp. WTB soldier, Spec. Deidre Olivas, said her new room is better than some apartments and is grateful for WTB supplying everything a Soldier needs. She’s especially thankful for the no-lip walk-in shower because she doesn’t have to worry about tripping anymore.

Nu Image: Surgical and Dental Implant Center

The difference was "night and day" when the primary office for Nu Image: Surgical and Dental Implant Center in Raleigh, North Carolina, installed LEDtronics' LED Flat Panel Lights to replace their old-technology fluorescent tube lights in their parabolic troffers.
Both patients and staff alike were very excited when they came in the next day to see how bright the office was. "It actually made the rooms look like they changed color – It made the colors pop," says Kourosh Neshat, who works in Marketing for Nu Image.
The LED Flat Panels were installed in the surgery rooms as well as Dr. Kevin Neshat's office. Dr. Neshat loves the new lights, as they greatly improve visibility and liven up the room. "It makes a very bright and vibrant atmosphere there," says Kourosh.

NRG Power Plant

When the NRG power plant in El Segundo, Calif., was redesigned, two towers were demolished which caused extensive light from the plant to bother local neighbors. In an effort to get rid of this light pollution and update old, lighting fixtures at the same time, NRG turned to LEDtronics, Inc. for assistance.
“We faced an unexpected challenge when a large amount of new light was pouring into the homes of local residents after our demolition process,” states Jason Luehsenhop, Morrow-Meadows Corporation Senior Project Manager for the NRG LED lighting updates. “LEDtronics supplied us with street lights that reduced the light pollution immediately. In addition, we reduced energy consumption when our old lights that consumed 300 watts were replaced with these energy-efficient LEDs using only 82 watts.”
“An estimated 30% of outdoor light generated in the U.S. goes into space, flooding the skies and creating electric haze that reduces stargazing,” states Mark Jarel, LEDtronics’ Street and Outdoor Lighting Produces Sales Manager. “LED streetlights shine light in the direction where it is needed, at ground level, reducing the amount of light that is lost to the sky and improving overall nighttime viewing, making them dark sky friendly.”
