A family member has died, so I will be out of town and offline for a few days at least. Even when these things are expected, its very difficult when it actually happens.
I spent yesterday on a road trip, with my final destination being Post Rock Country in Central Kansas. I never seem to have enough time to see everything I want to see, but was so happy when I was heading south on Ks. Hwy. 232 and noticed this beautiful scene at Wilson Lake.
Had such a great morning at the river that, as I was trekking back, I thought to myself - "Only an eagle could have made this morning any better" - and then this happened. A juvenile bald eagle perched in a tree no more than 7 yards away from me. It was the perfect ending to an amazing morning.
Captured in Pigeon River State forest Michigan. Being end of October these trees were some of the last ones to turn.
This photo is more than just a photo and a documentation of that great evening. It's a representation of how much I love sunsets and how much joy they always give me. No matter how bad of a day I've had, ending it with a sunset always makes it better.
I spent all night working on this picture. Photoshop is still a pain in the butt to me because I only learned how to use it like a month ago.
But I love this picture. This was one of the best evenings I've ever had. I was in the middle of a huge field, probably the quietest place in my entire city. I looked to the east and saw the clouds being lit up bright pink over the entire mountain range. I looked west and saw one of the prettiest sunsets of my life.
After a week full of rain and wind storms in Victoria, this day was a real treat before going back home.
Warm sun, warm colours. Perfect endings!

This lonely trail beneath my feet
surrounded by trees and a stunning creek
It twists and turns like a slithering snake
and away from its path there's a mirrored lake
On this trail, there is a hail, of dried up leaves
that fall endlessly from atop the trees
There are even footprints by a lonely damn
to where the edges of the path expand
For on this trail beneath my feet
thrive many memories In my heart, I will keep.
A fallen tree in Ohanepecosh. That's the thing about forests, all endings are just beginnings in another form. That fascinates me. Forests fascinate me in general.
The beginning of a new project...I'm not sure where it will lead, or even why I am so fascinated by this heap of corrugated iron lying discarded in the woods. I think much of this will be shot in colour, but I started with a dark mono.
Not and ending to the day, but rather the last remaining minutes of waning color in the sky from a glorious sunrise as the sun ascended above the clouds.

This is the way you left me,
I´m not pretending.
No hope, no love, no glory,
No Happy Ending.
This is the way that we love,
Like it´s forever.
Then live the rest of our life,
But not together.
Wake up in the morning, stumble on my life
Can´t get no love without sacrifice
If anything should happen, I guess I wish you well
A little bit of heaven, but a little bit of hell
This is the hardest story that I´ve ever told
No hope, or love, or glory
Happy endings gone forever more
I feel as if I feel as if I´m wastin´
And I´m wastin´ everyday
This is the way you left me,
I´m not pretending.
No hope, no love, no glory,
No Happy Ending.
This is the way that we love,
Like it´s forever.
Then live the rest of our life,
But not together.
2 o´clock in the morning, something´s on my mind
Can´t get no rest; keep walkin´ around
If I pretend that nothin´ ever went wrong, I can get to my sleep
I can think that we just carried on
This is the hardest story that I´ve ever told
No hope, or love, or glory
Happy endings gone forever more
I feel as if I feel as if I´m wastin´
And I´m wastin´ everyday
This is the way you left me,
I´m not pretending.
No hope, no love, no glory,
No Happy Ending.
This is the way that we love,
Like it´s forever.
Then live the rest of our life,
But not together.
A Little bit of love, little bit of love
Little bit of love, little bit of love [repeat]
I feel as if I feel as if I´m wastin´
And I´m wastin´ everyday
This is the way you left me,
I´m not pretending.
No hope, no love, no glory,
No Happy Ending.
This is the way that we love,
Like it´s forever.
To live the rest of our life,
But not together.
Ending the year with good karma one of the images that I have saved on a previous trip to Iceland. It's been a great year, this 2013 will be traveling with the Wifey to visit some more great city and nature locations on our bucket list.
This chap was moving at quite a speed when I was walking along the beach ~ using the wind to his benefit whilst I'm walking into the wind!!

Yep, sunset again. From the archives, I seem to have wound up in a place where good sunsets are fairly rare.
Day 336 - 365/2023 - A Never-Ending Journey

My aunt is leaving for Florida in a few weeks and asked me to take custody of her Anthurium. I have never cared for this variety of house plant before. Seems easy enough. Looks like it grows similar to the Peace Lily that I had for 14 years.
Just another rainbow on my tour of the Southwest.
I had some of the most amazing light for 10 days straight last summer, never ending sunrises, sunsets, lightning, and rainbows.
