Autumn officially began September 23 here and there was also a full moon that night. I hoped it would rise above this lake but I was off by a bit, and caught it a little way down the road.

At summer's end you need to put your leisure craft to sleep for the winter. This involves quite a bit of time, depending on the size and type of boat. It looks like this person is perhaps putting his/her sailboat to sleep.

Sometimes images and words reach you

that entail a complex closing mechanism.

The doors close, clack, clack, clack, one after the other, the windows close, the roller shutters rattle down, keys turn in the lock. The hut is sealed.

'Klappe zu, Affe tot' is a saying in Germany.

End of the story

I simply can't take any more.

Dried hydrangea blossoms add winter interest while they recall summer's beauty.

The 2010s have seen most remaining end-cab switchers purged from Class I rosters, with few exceptions. Two that have survived rest in the former Soo Line/Wisconsin Central yard at Stevens Point. The unit on the left is also the first and likely only WC painted engine I'll ever shoot with a digital camera. WC SD45s showed up back home in Pennsylvania all the time in the early 2000s, but CN made quick work of purging most of the WC roster within a few years after taking over.

I guess you knew this was coming...

As the day concludes, the sun graces Erwin Park in McKinney, Texas with a breathtaking display of colors, casting a serene glow over the landscape.

Zephaniah 1:18 “Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD's wrath, but the whole land will be devoured by the fire of his jealousy; for he will make an end, yes, a terrible end, of all those who dwell in the land.”

Milecastle 39 seen in the last light of the day. It seems strange when stood here with only the sheep for company that this was once a war zone with the attendant human tragedy. This shot was processed from two sepparate exposures, one for the sky and one for the land.

I'm off to Skye next week so it will depend upon WiFi quality if I'm posting or commenting.

Weybourne has a delightful collection of old tractor units on the beach, which are just right for low angle POV shots.

Taken with ProCamera app on an iPhone. All processing within the app with conversion to B & W.

Just returned from a busy Norfolk but some excellent weather was a very welcome holiday following the lockdown.

この夏は本当に色んなことがあった。

嬉しいこと悲しいこと不安だったこと辛かったこと。

でも大切な気持ちに変わりはない。

夏の疲れにちょっとの休息も大事♪

(寝ても寝ても毎日眠いw)

It's the end of the dance for this season's leaves but even in repose, they are so gracefully beautiful. When the leaves reach this stage, they always remind me of a richly colored baroque tapestry with all the fancy curves and curlicues.

From Wiki:

Land's End (Cornish: Penn an Wlas or Pedn an Wlas) is a headland and holiday complex in western Cornwall, England. It is the most westerly point of mainland Cornwall and England, is within the Penwith peninsula and is about eight miles (13 km) west-south-west of Penzance at the western end of the A30 road.
