Our second and third nights camping at Big Bend were at Chisos Basin campground. Only 20 minutes before this photo was taken, we witnessed a pretty epic thunderstorm roll through. It was great seeing the mountains get drenched, and the green really popped!

The White Clouds were given their name by early settlers because many of these skyward soaring pale peaks seem to blend together with the clouds above, making it hard to tell where mountains stop and clouds begin. The White Clouds lie near the center of Idaho, entirely within the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. In the heart of the range there are over 90,000 acres of amazing terrain that became protected as The White Clouds Wilderness in 2015

On the Fourth of July, we were the only two people willing to brave this hot, sunny desert trail. I certainly felt a high degree of "independence" day patriotism out there, without a soul to be seen during our four-mile hike!

A 90 minute hike with lots of variety, two suspension bridges to go over the Kootenay River, a quiet forest with a 40 meter gain, and a peaceful lake. I met two great people from NY City at this lake.

So I wanted to hike the Larch Valley in BANFF, but it was closed because of grizzlies. I stayed in BANFF and decided to go on this 14.6km (9 mile) loop around Lake Louise, Lake Agnes Mirror Lake.

Probably called Iceline because is follows the lower edge of several (unfortunately fast-receding) glaciers in Yoho National Park, you will get great views of Takakkaw Falls, the Daly Glacier above it that feeds it and the Yoho River, and great views of numerous other glaciers such as Emerald Glacier, Glacier Des Poilus and Yoho Glacier. A must-do trail!

Trekking towards Thompson Peak a 10,751 foot summit, with a much needed overnight stay. Incredible views of the Stanley Valley from the Sawtooth's highest peak! Hiked 6.5 one way gaining 4,200 feet from Redfish Lake's parking lot.
