But Timothy has just now come to us from you and has brought good news about your faith and love. He has told us that you always have pleasant memories of us and that you long to see us, just as we also long to see you. Therefore, brothers and sisters, in all our distress and persecution we were encouraged about you because of your faith. For now we really live, since you are standing firm in the Lord. How can we thank God enough for you in return for all the joy we have in the presence of our God because of you? Night and day we pray most earnestly that we may see you again and supply what is lacking in your faith.

Now may our God and Father himself and our Lord Jesus clear the way for us to come to you. May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you.

Encouraged by heavy downpours and warm days my Endless Summer Hydrangeas are bursting forth with a host of new buds. Hope they will all bloom before the winter snow which has arrived as early as Thanksgiving, in Canada, Monday October 9th this year.

One of a family who come by after dark to mop up any leftover nuts and seeds...I don't encourage them but so far they have been pretty harmless.

How the tradition of a red rose and a book became celebrated on April 23.

According to the legend, Sant Jordi killed a dragon to save a princess and then a bush of red roses sprouted from its spilled blood. Years later, on April 23, he was martyred for his religious beliefs. On Diada de Sant Jordi (the Feast Day of Saint Jordi), it is common to see rose stalls and red roses, the symbol of love, everywhere. Traditionally, men give a rose to their loved one. It is estimated that 40% of all the roses sold in a year in Barcelona are sold on this single day.

During the International Exhibition held in Barcelona in 1929, booksellers decided to set up stalls in the streets, to present their new Catalan publications and to encourage reading. The initiative was so successful they decided to change the date and establish 23rd April as Book Day, the day when two of the great names in the history of literature died: Cervantes and Shakespeare. In 1995, UNESCO’s General Assembly declared 23rd April World Book and Copyright Day.

Difficult Life

If you're going through a hard time right now, I encourage you to worship God first before you plunge yourself into your daily life. I know the world expects and demands much from you. The pressure is intense. You forget to pray. Remember that before you can drive a car you must fill it up with gasoline. Only then can you go on your daily journey.

You try to read all the road signs, but sometimes you run into obstacles on your way or you fail to see you're going down a dead end. Such obstacles can make you nervous or even sick. They can lead you to stress, anger, or despair, and before you know it you're driving way too fast and in the wrong direction.

The obstacles will not disappear, but when you pray and trust in the Lord, He will be your guide. By listening to His voice you will gain insight. Recovery always takes time. Keep praying for insight and wisdom, keep reading your Bible daily, and slowly you'll be able to see the road better and know where you are going. There is no shadow in life that can stop His light!

Zoom in - pixel peeking is encouraged!

This image was derived from a capture that was optimimzed for stars. Processing in Pixinsight removed the nebula, and enhanced the stars.

Now that I can capture and process DSO target objects and stars separately, I can optimize both instead using a compromise exposure duration. After I have an optimized DSO target withouit stars, I will process separately and recombine the DSO with its stars.

Eight benches in total were painted by two visual and media artists selected in a June/July contest open to Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit and Métis) or BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour).

“They look amazing,” said Slattery. “It’s really great because they pull in the BIA colours and it’s all about the theme ‘eat, shop, live, explore’ downtown.”

The themes Live, Shop, Eat and Explore were represented on four sidewalk decals with the added challenge of each decal containing just one corporate colour. The decals needed to capture the unique, retail, food, and lifestyle opportunities in the charming town of Tillsonburg. Digitally drawn doodles for each theme were arranged to surround stylized type highlighting heritage stops, shopping, and activities such as Turtlefest as well as the rural nature of the area.’

Each of the artists were able to visit Tillsonburg, explore the downtown and ‘live the life,’ said Slattery, and from there they went to work.

The benches will be located in the downtown along Broadway, or side streets like Ridout or Bridge streets, creating an ‘art path from one end of the core to the other.’

“We want to make sure people know that Downtown Tillsonburg isn’t just Broadway but also the side streets,” said Slattery. “And there’s lots of shops and patios and things to explore along the side streets too.”

A light Autumn rain and cool evenings encourages\ the growth of fungi in the woods and lawns.

Train travel is often considered the most civilised mode of transportation because it combines comfort, efficiency, and environmental friendliness in a uniquely human way. Unlike cramped air planes or stressful car journeys, trains offer spacious seating, freedom to move around, and the opportunity to relax, read, or work while watching the landscape unfold. The rhythmic motion and quiet hum encourage reflection and conversation, fostering a sense of calm rarely found in modern travel. Moreover, trains connect city centres directly, avoiding the chaos of airports and long security lines, making the entire experience more dignified and enjoyable.

Bella was very pleased to be encouraged to play with a piece of bronze fennel to represent this poem. It’s a good choice for her - recently she didn’t chew my fabric flowers, just knocked them over & broke the vase. Happy Caturday.
