The wide angle lens is probably the most often used, but also misused, lens in landscape photography. It is a powerful lens, as long as it is used with forethought and for the right scenes. In my article I share with you useful tips for composing powerful wide angle images and I hope it encourages you to go out there and capture the beauty! Please feel free to read the article at this link. I hope you enjoy!
An encouraging fellow photographer in Quebec said the berries on my Japanese yew will look very nice in snow. Pessimistically I said they won't last through the strong winds and rain. But the temperature dropped precipitously last night and the rain turned to snow. I took this before it all melted. This is the photo on the same bunch of berries he saw. The previous shot is on a different branch.

We need to encourage more bees in to our gardens! All it takes is to plant more bee loving flowers in our garden, like Cerinthe, which i am told by the bees is a favourite of theirs :)

Meaning & Symbolism of Chrysanthemums
With a history that dates back to 15th century B.C., chrysanthemum mythology is filled with a multitude of stories and symbolism. Named from the Greek prefix "chrys-" meaning golden (its original color) and "-anthemion," meaning flower, years of artful cultivation have produced a full range of colors, from white to purple to red. Daisy-like with a typically yellow center and a decorative pompon, chrysanthemums symbolize optimism and joy. They're the November birth flower, the 13th wedding anniversary flower and the official flower of the city of Chicago. In Japan, there's even a "Festival of Happiness" to celebrate this flower each year.
A symbol of the sun, the Japanese consider the orderly unfolding of the chrysanthemum's petals to represent perfection, and Confucius once suggested they be used as an object of meditation. It's said that a single petal of this celebrated flower placed at the bottom of a wine glass will encourage a long and healthy life.

Wow, 100 music pictures. What started as a little bet between friends a year ago now is one of my favorite past times. And Who knew a cynical old bat like me likes so many songs? And there are still more to come, I haven't barely touched my most favorite artists. But this spot on my list was always reserved for exactly this song!
This is my all time favorite. A simple melody, direct and from the heart lyric that describe perfectly what love is for me. Thank you John Denver for making me dream and hope and keep smiling. You had the heart of a true poet and we miss you.
Special thanks to Tatusia for enduring my fiddling with lights and camera angles with such patience ❤
And thank you all who like this series and encourage me to do more. It gives me so much joy and motivation 💋
You fill up my senses
Like a night in a forest
Like the mountains in springtime
Like a walk in the rain
Like a storm in the desert
Like a sleepy blue ocean
You fill up my senses
Come fill me again
Come let me love you
Let me give my life to you
Let me drown in your laughter
Let me die in your arms
Let me lay down beside you
Let me always be with you
Come let me love you
Come love me again
You fill up my senses
Like a night in a forest
Like the mountains in springtime
Like a walk in the rain
Like a storm in the desert
Like a sleepy blue ocean
You fill up my senses
Come fill me again

Steam plus a loco this time and, for me, the star of the show on the East Lancs this last weekend (sorry "Flying Scotsman" fans).
Effortlessly and unceremoniously doing its job with masterful presence is Bullied West Country Pacific 34092 "City of Wells" resplendent with the Golden Arrow adornment. It doesn't get much better.
A bit traditional this one but I could just be encouraged to get into this kettle lark.
Bury Bolton Street - 9th January 2016
Excerpt from Wikipedia:
Roskilde Cathedral (Danish: Roskilde Domkirke), in the city of Roskilde on the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in eastern Denmark, is a cathedral of the Lutheran Church of Denmark.
The cathedral is the most important church in Denmark, the official royal burial church of the Danish monarchs, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is due to two criteria: the architecture of the cathedral shows 800 years of European architectural styles, and it is one of the earliest examples in Scandinavia of a Gothic cathedral to be built in brick; it encouraged the spread of the Brick Gothic style throughout Northern Europe. Constructed during the 12th and 13th centuries, the cathedral incorporates both Gothic and Romanesque architectural features in its design. The cathedral has been the main burial site for Danish monarchs since the 15th century. As such, it has been significantly extended and altered over the centuries to accommodate a considerable number of burial chapels and the many added chapels show different architectural styles.
The cathedral is a major tourist attraction, bringing in over 165,000 visitors annually. Since 1995, it has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its unique architecture. A working church, it also hosts concerts throughout the year.

The buildings were both started in 1885 with the Jail opening in 1886 and the Court House in 1887. Originally, the Council had decided to open the buildings on the date of Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee which was June 22, 1887. It was suggested to allow $500.00 to pay for the festivities. However, the money was returned to a general fund as it was never spent because the buildings were opened instead on May 9, at the beginning of the spring assizes
George F. Durand was born in 1850 to Scottish parents. His artistic ability encouraged his father to enroll him in Peel’s Art School, London, where after two years of study, specializing in marble sculpturing, Durand began his studies in architecture in apprenticeship with London architect, William Robinson. After completing his apprenticeship, Durand moved to the United States, where he helped with the designs of the New York State Capital Building for a short time.

The Blue-billed Malimbe is a striking black-and-red forest weaver with a blue bill. These birds have a harsh, rasping call and are usually found in small parties in dense, humid undergrowth on the forest edge near a stream or swamp.
This adult was seen on a very misty morning just after dawn near its nest site beside a small watercourse in the Ankasa Forest, Ghana, West Africa. It was so dark, as the sun had yet to break through the mist, that ISO 8000 was used for this shot.

Encouraged by my guide Brydon Thomason of Shetland Nature I did a commando crawl across the terrain to get a closer view of this Bonxie - the Shetland Name for the Great Skua (Stercorariius Skua) - she was completely oblivious to our presence which was a few feet away - she was far more occupied with the flying Skuas who were flying in lower to get a better look at us!!!

i could list a few things that made me frame it this way, there is no good excuse for the poor composition though 0:-). normally this would end up in my recycle bin, however, it survived, considering the astrological event.
