This picture encapsulates most of my habits, none of which I think are that bad: reading, writing, praying, drinking coffee, watching football (soccer), eating chocolate, listening to music, playing Angry Birds. My wife probably disagrees with me on the goodness of a couple of these, but that's another story!

In the Spacecraft Assembly and Encapsulation Facility-2 (SAEF-2), a KSC technician prepares the Mars Polar Lander for encapsulation inside the backshell, a protective cover. The solar-powered spacecraft, targeted for launch from Cape Canaveral Air Station aboard a Delta II rocket on Jan. 3, 1999, is designed to touch down on the Martian surface near the northern-most boundary of the south pole in order to study the water cycle there. The lander also will help scientists learn more about climate change and current resources on Mars, studying such things as frost, dust, water vapor and condensates in the Martian atmosphere. At the end of the '80s, the Melbourne Central shopping complex was built on a derelict block of CBD land that inconveniently featured a historic 1890s-era tower, used until 1961 to produce lead ammunition. The solution was to build around it, and encase the nine-storey tower in a glass and steel "cone".
There are plenty of photos around of this unique bit of '80s-style bigness, of course. This one is here as an example of what the clever little brain in Sony's tiny new TX1 camera can do with a handheld shot when there's little available light to work with.

Nothing encapsulates the story of the out ward diaspora of the Merchant Princes of Shekavati than the beautiful decaying haveli’s left behind in the small towns of Sikar & Jhunjhunu which made up the Shekavat region of Jaipur State. These Haveli’s bearing names like “Modi ki Haveli”,Khaithan ki Haveli” etc is the who’s who of the current major industrial house’s in India. (Poddar,Bajaj,Goenka,Ruias, Singhania’s et al)
Had visited the deserted town of Chitpur last year to see the mansions of the Bohra’s. These haveli’s I got to see in Jhunjhunu still has people living in some parts of the mansions. The towns of Sikar & Jhunjhuna are still vibrant & full of bright earthy colours.
The quirky,exuberant paintings & murals all over the portions we were allowed to see is lovely. The “Tibrewala” & the “Modi” haveli has Gods, Cars, Trains driven by White Babu’s Mughal motifs & what not…. I saw Bhagat Singh twirling his mushtache on a wall

In the Spacecraft Assembly and Encapsulation Facility 2, an overhead crane lifts and moves the Thermal Emission Imaging System (THEMIS) toward the 2001 Mars Odyssey Orbiter. THEMIS will map the mineralogy and morphology of the Martian surface using a high-resolution camera and a thermal infrared imaging spectrometer. The orbiter will carry three science instruments: THEMIS, the Gamma Ray Spectrometer (GRS), and the Mars Radiation Environment Experiment (MARIE). The GRS will achieve global mapping of the elemental composition of the surface and determine the abundance of hydrogen in the shallow subsurface. The MARIE will characterize aspects of the near-space radiation environment with regards to the radiation-related risk to human explorers. The Mars Odyssey Orbiter is scheduled for launch on April 7, 2001, aboard a Delta 7925 rocket from Launch Pad 17-A, Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.
