In the Spacecraft Assembly and Encapsulation Facility-2 (SAEF-2), technicians test the science instruments and the basic spacecraft subsystems on the Mars Polar Lander. The solar-powered spacecraft is targeted for launch from Cape Canaveral Air Station aboard a Delta II rocket on Jan. 3, 1999. It is designed to touch down on the Martian surface near the northern-most boundary of the south pole in order to study the water cycle there. The lander also will help scientists learn more about climate change and current resources on Mars, studying such things as frost, dust, water vapor and condensates in the Martian atmosphere. Basil seed mucilage (BSM) extracted from basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) seeds that grow in Asia, Africa, and America has been applied to fabricate nanofibers in previous studies. Because of the potential applications of the mucilage for thickening and stabilizing, it is a new source of edible hydrocolloid as a functional ingredient in the food industry. However, BSM cannot be spun alone, and PVA is the most commonly used electrospinning aid agent for BSM electrospinning. Mucilage nanofibers can be utilized as a food additive.
According to the study, water and acetone at the ratio of 7:3 have been used to dissolve 2% BSM. Acetone of good volatility is appropriate for the electrospinning process. A 10% PVA solution is prepared in deionized water. BSM and PVA are mixed at different volume ratios. The results are displayed in the Figure and show that (1) viscosity and electrical conductivity of the biopolymer solutions decrease with increase in PVA content, (2) fiber diameter increases with increase in high voltage and PVA content, and (3) PVA addition improves the thermal properties of the nanofibers. Therefore, thermostable ultrathin fibers fabricated by electrospinning have potential applications in the food sector, such as bioactive encapsulation and edible film production.

Quicksilver never fails to amaze me. It's so incredibly useful and I keep finding out cool new things about it.
One feature I've been using lately is command encapsulation (I'm not sure if that's the official name or not...). Basically you can take any Quicksilver command and turn it into a subject that you can run other commands on. For example:
1. Select a command. I used "Sleep" from the Extra Scripts plugin. The default action, Run, is fine.
2. Press ctrl+return. This encapsulates the command into its own subject.
3. Tab to the action field and select "Run after Delay..." Tab once more, pick a time and press return.
A lot of times I'll want to listen to a song or two before I go to sleep but don't want to have to get out of bed to put my computer to sleep after the songs are done. This way I can have it sleep on its own after the songs are done playing.
I've also used it with the Large Type action to remind myself to do things like checking on food, tea, etc.

At the very top of the New Covenant Typological Window at Bourges the artist has placed the scene of Jacob blessing Ephraim and Manasses, the sons of Joseph. The biblical text tells that in blessing the boys Jacob crossed his hands, putting his right hand on the head of Ephraim, the younger son. Isadore of Seville and other writers suggested that by this act, showing that he preferred the younger son to the older one, Jacob foretold that through the mystery of the cross the Messiah would supplant the God's ancient people with the new. No doubt the placing of this scene at the very top of the window is meant to emphasise that Christ died on the cross not just for the chosen people but for all humankind. At Le Mans and at Tours this scene accompanies that of Christ carrying the cross. Here, in a sense, by its position, it encapsulates the New Covenant brought about through Christ's death on the cross.
These artistic products encapsulate the old and the new. They use traditional Desná moulds and newly designed wooden moulds and they embody modern elements and ideas. The glass-maker can then conjure up an infinite combination of colors, patterns and shapes from what was just crystal and glass shards at the beginning. Technicians in the Spacecraft Assembly and Encapsulation Facility-2 (SAEF-2) prepare a lifting device they will use to remove the Mars Climate Orbiter from its container (behind the workers). The Mars Climate Orbiter is heading for Mars where it will primarily support its companion Mars Polar Lander spacecraft, planned for launch on Jan. 3, 1999. After that, the Mars Climate Orbiter's instruments will monitor the Martian atmosphere and image the planet's surface on a daily basis for one Martian year (two Earth years). It will observe the appearance and movement of atmospheric dust and water vapor, as well as characterize seasonal changes on the surface. The detailed images of the surface features will provide important clues to the planet's early climate history and give scientists more information about possible liquid water reserves beneath the surface. The scheduled launch date for the Mars Climate Orbiter is Dec. 10, 1998, on a Boeing Delta II 7425 rocket. In the Spacecraft Assembly and Encapsulation Facility-2 (SAEF-2), a technician tests the science instruments and the basic spacecraft subsystems on the Mars Polar Lander. The solar-powered spacecraft is targeted for launch from Cape Canaveral Air Station aboard a Delta II rocket on Jan. 3, 1999. It is designed to touch down on the Martian surface near the northern-most boundary of the south pole in order to study the water cycle there. The lander also will help scientists learn more about climate change and current resources on Mars, studying such things as frost, dust, water vapor and condensates in the Martian atmosphere. KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. At Astrotech Space Operations in Titusville, Fla., the encapsulated GOES-N spacecraft waits on a transporter to roll to Launch Complex 37 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. There it will be mated to the Boeing Delta IV launch vehicle. The encapsulation protects the spacecraft during liftoff. Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites (GOES) are sponsored by NASAs Goddard Space Flight Center and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Launch is scheduled for June 23.
