Swallowtail on Asters Beard, the swallowtail butterflies have emerged and flitting around the yard.

This Osprey came up talons empty, but not for lack of trying; it was totally submerged for a moment after it hit the water.

I thought the leaves provided an interesting pattern.

 

With all of the rain we have had this Spring the yard is lush and green. The Tiger Lilies are reaching for the sky as each layer of leaves is added. I find it interesting how the top center of the plant sprouts each new layer like floors of a new office tower building being constructed.

I think that this is a Whitelegged Damselfly which has newly emerged.

Vertical ascents are happening all over the pond now as the maturing frog tadpoles try to reach dry land. This one has found the rock in the middle of the pond but it's not going to lead it to the garden where this young, determined amphibian is aiming for. I have now dipped into the pond a series of net ladders and wooden planks so that the tiny frogs will be able to find their way out of their watery nursery. Size ? This one is about as big as a peanut.
