PhD student Mengjun Hou prepares sensors and wires to be embedded in the new and revolutionary type of concrete being poured in the section of M-City in Ann Arbor.
Civil and Environmental Engineering Professor Victor Lee, Visiting Professor Esayas Ftwi and a group of Michigan Engineering graduate students work with the workers from a local cement company Arbor Masonry to mix and pour new type of bendable concrete (engineered cement composite, ECC) into a section of the road at M-City, a driverless vehicle test facility at the University of Michigan. Before the new cement is poured, electronic sensors are installed and embedded in ECC to measure its performance.
Victor Lee, an engineering professor at the University of Michigan has developed a new type of flexible concrete known as an engineered cement composite (ECC). He developed the new new material by reinforcing cement composites with smart fiber.
The flexible concrete doesn’t need expansion joints in driveways or sidewalks the way regular concrete does. It doesn’t need rebar to keep it strong and you only need 4 inches of it vs 8 inches to use in a road or driveway. Finally, the ECC is flexible and not bristle like regular concrete.
The material has a compressive strength similar to that of regular concrete. But while normal concrete has a strain capacity of .01 percent, ECC has a tensile strength capacity of 3 to 5 percent, or about 300 to 500 times as much, making it far more ductile.

DTx’s Regional Sales Manger – Western Region, Marty Carlos was ready with a smile, a handshake and a custom embedded solution for attendees to the Medical Device Manufacturer’s (MD&M) West 2012 convention.
Vocore unit up and running WRTLinux. You can administer it from it's built in web server. Project sponsored on Indegogo. Adafruit powerboost 500 and lipo battery. You don't really need the powerboost with that battery, but it does put out a pretty consistent 5V from down to 1.8V which means you could run if off two AA batteries.
The Kerry's Eye Tralee International Marathon was held on March 16th 2013 at 09:00 in Tralee, Co. Kerry, Ireland. There was also a half marathon event which started at 09:30. The races finished in Tralee Town Park at the Ashe Memorial Hall. There was an amazing atmosphere around the town which fully embraced the marathon. Organisation was spot on for all aspects of the race. Congratulations to everyone involved.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. Our passionate volunteers will introduce Chinatown history and development.
The 100-year old Canton building, “Dinning block” that serves tons of amazing traditional Chinese food, The Chinese Cultural Centre that holds lots of great Chinese events, Sien Lok Park that is always promoting Chinese language, philosophies and culture, and The Dragon City Mall that runs different business related to Chinese culture.

All garments are zero waste. Womenswear is three pieces (vest, dress and pants) and from one pattern. Menswear is 4 pieces (tshirt, hoody, jacket and pants) and is from two patterns.

This was an HP supercell embedded in a line of storms late evening on May 28 in northwest Texas. The structure was more pronounced in the leadup to this shot (as we were moving toward it in low light), but some of the striated characteristics are still visible here. The storm was pretty outflow dominant but showed a period of spiked rotation near sunset -- deep in the rain core and not something we wanted to venture into.

The Fuji Neopan 1600 film emulation in VSCO Film 02 is really nice. I normally don't care much for B&W photos, but sometimes the color isn't what you're looking for.
