I was quite disappointed at how bright these two photos from Embankment station came out, especially considering how dark and gloomy it was down there. I've also spent far too long staring at this photo, trying to decide if it was ruined by being slightly wonky, and I really don't know. I may well head back there to take another version of it at some point.
This man-made embankment separates the Galop Canal on the left from the
St. Lawrence River on the right .... This canal was needed to skirt the Galop Rapids
at Cardinal. Ontario .... It was discontinued in the 1950’s when the Seaway was opened. The locks are no longer used and a portion of the embankment has been removed to allow easy access.
It is miles long and very popular with fishermen and scuba drivers .... On such a calm day, you can see the current leaving the canal and entering the river.

It is an earth-fill embankment dam on the Pampanga River located in Pantabangan in Nueva Ecija province of the Philippines. The multi-purpose dam provides water for irrigation and hydroelectric power generation while its reservoir, Pantabangan Lake, affords flood control. The reservoir is considered one of the largest in Southeast Asia and also one of the cleanest in the Philippines. Construction on the dam began in 1971 and it was completed in 1977. - From Wikipedia
