today, exactly one year ago, i sent in my application for the position of web evangelist at opera software. it took quite a long time to go from october 2008 to my actual start in the new job on the 16 august 2009...one live interview, three phone interviews, lots of waiting...but in the end, it all came through. here's to the first anniversary of taking my life in a new and exciting direction!

Large chocolate and vanilla layered cake in a book shape. The cake is covered and decorated with fondant and buttercream icing.

A group of 18 people from Georgia traveled to Chattanooga, Tennessee on November 2-4, 2012. The Kelly Tours was "Riverboats, Trains, and Civil War History." We spent two nights on the Delta Queen which is moored in the Tennessee River in downtown Chattanooga, TN.

Walking through the crowd you would see numerous vendors of all types. The walk to our seating areas would take about 50-75 minutes. Ruim dertig jaar geleden is Jardin d’email van Jean Dubuffet in de beeldentuin van het Kröller-Müller Museum gebouwd. Van buiten een ogenschijnlijk gesloten muur, waarin echter een kleine opening toegang verschaft tot een portaal onder het beeld vanwaar een trap naar boven leidt. Wanneer de deur bovenaan de trap wordt geopend, ontvouwt zich een oogverblindend landschap voor de ogen van de bezoeker, een witte wereld in amorfe facetten, afgezet met zwarte lijnen, volgens de zo typerende structuur die Dubuffet de feeërieke naam ‘Hourloupe’ meegaf. De driedimensionale en uitvergrote vorm ervan noemde hij ‘peinture monumentée’. Maar hoe is dit ‘gemonumentaliseerde schilderij’ eigenlijk gemaakt en welke restauratieproblematiek brengt het werk met zich mee? Dubuffets voormalige assistent Richard Dhoedt kon hierover belangrijke aanvullende informatie verschaffen.
