Beautiful twilight launch for SpaceX with the NASA Crew Resupply (CRS-25) mission headed to the International Space Station. Liftoff occurred Thursday at 8:44 p.m. EDT from LC-39A on NASA's Kennedy Space Center
At 5:04pm (ET) Wednesday (6/29), SpaceX launched the SES-22 payload atop Falcon9 booster B1073.
Cloudy skies made for a moody backdrop as the rocket thundered off the pad.
Views from the pad were captured with sound-activated cameras.

Just another Wednesday on the Space Coast of Florida: A rocket homecoming as the #SpaceX #Telstar19V #Falcon9 first stage returned to Port Canaveral this morning (July 25, 2018) atop the drone ship "Of Course I Still Love You."
Note people (and a large ship, a bulk carrier) for scale, with special guest appearance by NASA’s VAB on the horizon in one pic.

Beautiful early evening for the #SpaceX launch with #OneWeb-15 mission putting up another 40 broadband internet satellites from LC-39A from NASA's Kennedy Space Center at 5:27 p.m. EST
At 1:18am (ET) on Tuesday, August 7, #SpaceX successfully launched the #Telkom4 #MerahPutih satellite atop a previously flown #Block5 #Falcon9 rocket. This was the first reuse of a Block5, the rocket that is designed to be reused many times.

Stop the Coup Protest
Hundreds of people organized by broad coalition of Massachusetts-based organizations joined together to protest what they describe as a "coup" led by Elon Musk and President Donald Trump.
Gathering on Boston Common at noon, the organizers called on state and federal leaders to oppose the "Musk-Trump agenda" and then march through downtown Boston. They specifically admonished the administration's recent actions targeting the transgender community, immigrants and climate change.

The CRS9 rocket, seen here about 6 hours before launch (and landing!). Notice the people at the bootom of the rocket (for scale) and also you'll see that a water feature (sound supression, most likely) is being tested near the base of the rockets and the engines.
Hello Lego friends
Here are the latest updates for this Lego Ideas project, before obtaining the 10,000 supports.

The launch of the Argentine SAOCOM 1A satellite on a SpaceX Falcon 9 was visible from my front yard in Long Beach. Let's be honest - it was visible over almost all of Southern California. This is the trailing part of the exhaust from stage separation and firing the second stage. The first stage (at the right) is executing its boostback burn to return to Vandenberg Air Force Base.
The wind was blowing a piece of tape in front of it, so I had to shoot this one-handed!

Utility poles are still commonly referred to as telephone poles.
Well done, #SpaceX. The #CRS14 #Falcon9 launch was successful, and incredible to watch, especially from the roof of NASA's Vehicle Assembly Building.

Hands Off! Protest in Vero Beach, Florida on April 5, 2025. A large crowd of over 2000 showed up to protest Trump and Elon Musk policies and the havoc caused by DOGE. This was one of 1200 locations where people raised their voices across the nation with more than 5 million participating. Resist!
A SpaceX Falcon 9 lifts off from launch pad 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center on the evening of March 30, 2017. This historic launch marks the first time SpaceX has re-used a previously flown first stage. Designated B1021, previously launched NASA’s CRS-8 mission in April 2016, and following the first successful landing on the autonomous spaceport drone ship (ASDS), the stage was brought back to land where it underwent refurbishment and testing to prepare it for the SES-10 mission. The SES-10 communication’s satellite, manufactured by Airbus Defense and Space, will provide coverage for Mexico and the Caribbean, Brazil, and South America.
Space Launch Complex 39A and 41 hug the coast of Florida's eastern seaboard. Interesting to see all the supportive networking which encircles a pad designed to send rockets to the cosmos
KoreaSat5A revisited: I forgot that I took a series of close-ups of the SpaceX KoreaSat5A Falcon9 rocket when it was on the pad the morning of the launch. So this is the photo merge of those images, containing elements from 37 different frames taken as the sun was rising behind us. (The images were taken roughly 2 minutes after sunrise.) The resulting image is huge, 10407x10407, effectively, more than 100 megapixels.
Specs: Each image was shot at ISO800, f9.0 and 1/200 secs at 200mm. Initial processing is done in Lightroom, the merge was done in Photoshop, and final edits were done in Lightroom, with some "detail extractor" applied in Color Efex.
Launch details: At 3:34 pm on Monday, 10/30/17, #SpaceX successfully launched the #KoreaSat5A satellite atop a #Falcon9 rocket and, a few moments later, landed the first stage of the Falcon aboard the "Of Course I Still Love You" droneship about 400 miles out in the Atlantic.

This is the CRS13 Falcon9 approximately 40 seconds into flight.
At 10:36 am on December 15, 2017, SpaceX successfully launched the #CRS13 payload atop a "flight-proven" Falcon9 booster. The Dragon capsule (also flight-proven) is bound for the International Space Station and contains scientific experiments and supplies for the astronauts onboard.
This launch was the debut of the renovated SLC-40, which has been undergoing repairs following a pad mishap on September 1, 2016.
Approximately 9 minutes later, the Falcon9 first stage would successfully land at SpaceX's "LZ1," treating the Space Coast of Florida to two sonic booms as the first stage descended.

That's one big carbon fiber layup over aluminum.
It connects the booster stage to the upper stage. (we used a machined aluminum equivalent for the Mavericks QP rocket)
Big pneumatic pushers separate the stages mid flight. I’ll post an image of the smaller Falcon 1 separation below.

The SpaceX ASDS (Autonomous Spaceport Drone Ship) named Of Course I Still Love You. Careful - Elon and Co will ensure to correct you if you call it a 'barge.' This mobile landing pad has already caught a number of rockets, and is planning on continuing to do some as Elon increases his launch, and landing rate per year.
