This was the scene this (Thurs) morning as the #SpaceX recovery team was removing the legs from the #ArabSat6a #FalconHeavy center core. The #SpaceXFleet returned to @portcanaveral at 2am, carrying the successfully landed first stage. It’s on its side (and the top is missing) after high seas caused the rocket to tip over.

Launched by the Falcon 9 rocket on a mission to the international space station. This was the first manned space flight after several successful trials.

New space suits and a hitech digital interior.

A new age in the history of space flight begins.

You would think this was a still from a SciFi movie but its real and a credit to those who built, designed and financed it.

Hands Off! Protest in Vero Beach, Florida on April 5, 2025. A large crowd of over 2000 showed up to protest Trump and Elon Musk policies and the havoc caused by DOGE. This was one of 1200 locations where people raised their voices across the nation with more than 5 million participating. Resist!

I took my boat out so I could get up close to the SpaceX Falcon 9 booster B1061.2 with the Crew Dragon Endeavour spacecraft. The NASA Crew-2 mission is scheduled to launch tomorrow morning at 5:49 a.m. EDT.

Beautiful early evening for the #SpaceX launch with #OneWeb-15 mission putting up another 40 broadband internet satellites from LC-39A from NASA's Kennedy Space Center at 5:27 p.m. EST

SpaceX launched the Japanese ispace Hakuto-R Mission 1 robotic moon lander, and NASA's micro-satellite called Lunar Flashlight to look for signs of water ice hidden in the permanently dark crater floors of the moon's poles. After launch, booster B1073 returned to land at LZ-2 on the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station

Well done, #SpaceX. The #CRS14 #Falcon9 launch was successful, and incredible to watch, especially from the roof of NASA's Vehicle Assembly Building.

It was a very beautiful early morning launch for SpaceX with the NASA Crew-2 mission headed for the ISS. The mission was SpaceX’s third crew flight, and first with a reused booster B1061.2, and the first reuse of Crew Dragon Endeavour. Launch occurred at 5:49 a.m. EDT from LC-39A on the Kennedy Space Center.

With Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, at the wheel.

The handling is unlike anything I have felt, given the low center of gravity (batteries and motor are below the wheel line).

I took video of the whole ride; will post that and better photos when I can, which won't be soon as I just arrived in San Diego.

Update: Here's the video and commentary

At 10:30 am on Sunday, January 19, 2020, SpaceX launched the Crew Dragon atop a Falcon9 rocket to prove the viability of the capsule's abort system. Shortly after launch, the Crew Dragon intentionally separated from the Falcon9 booster (which was consumed in a fiery explosion) and landed safely eight (or so) minutes later.

Early indications are that the test was a success, teeing up the next, crewed flight. SpaceX founder Elon Musk would later say that he expected humans to fly on the Crew Dragon in the second quarter of 2020.

SpaceX launches the Axiom-1 mission with 4 civilian astronauts to the ISS. The Falcon 9 lifted off from LC-39A on the Kennedy Space Center at 11:17 AM EDT. The Ax-1 crew members are retired NASA astronaut Commander Michael Lopez-Alegria, Pilot Larry Connor, and Mission Specialists Eytan Stibbe and Mark Pathy.

T-70 minutes in countdown of attempt 3 by SpaceX to launch the SES9 satellite atop a Falcon9 rocket. The countdown would later be halted about 90 seconds before T-0 because of a fouled range.

Quite a brutal poster against fascist totalitarians. I especially like Nigel Farage's who does a lot of damage with his stupid grin.

There will be a protest this Saturday, the 22nd of March in Amsterdam.

The posters can be downloaded for free here.

ART, NOT OLIGARCHY!

Are you also sick of billionaires, wealthy corporations and their politicians mis-managing, profiteering and wrecking our communities and planet? Musk is an over-the-top example of the class of the modern-day-kings mis-ruling the things we need to survive.

NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine, left, and SpaceX CEO and lead designer Elon Musk address members of the media during a post launch news conference in Kennedy Space Center’s Press Site auditorium following the March 2, 2:49 a.m. EST launch of the SpaceX Demo-1 Commercial Crew Program (CCP) mission to the International Space Station. The Crew Dragon’s trip to the space station is designed to validate end-to-end systems and capabilities, leading to certification to fly crew. NASA has worked with SpaceX and Boeing in developing the CCP spacecraft to facilitate new human spaceflight systems launching from U.S. soil with the goal of safe, reliable and cost-effective access to low-Earth orbit destinations, such as the space station. SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket launched the STP-2 mission at 2:30 am from LC-39A on the Kennedy Space Center. The two side boosters returned to land at LZ-1 & LZ-2 on the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, creating the two side-by-side landing streaks. Had to play hide and seek from the bright lights of the dredge in the shipping channel at Port Canaveral, but the lifeguard tower was up to the challenge.
