It's been a while since i last posted here due to lack of interest in photography and life getting in the way. But last week I was in London and had an afternoon travelling up and down the new Elizabeth Line taking photos of the various stations.

Low-tide and good light help show the beauty of the Cape Elizabeth coastline in Maine, October, 2021. While all were focused on the iconic Portland Head Light, I liked this look down the Atlantic coast to its south. The hues of these rocks drew my eye the entire time we were visiting coastal Maine.

The slow running Elizabeth River in Campbell Town is a lovely place to observe nature. Previously I have used infrared to capture something of the serenity of this place.

The Elizabeth line on a surprisingly quiet day. This is the first shot in a short series from a little wander from back in November.

Amtrak #79 “The Carolinian” meets the first light of day speeding south along the tangent approaching Elizabeth, New Jersey. After leaving New York Penn Station at 07:25, crossing under the Hudson River and making a full station stop at Newark, it is now at full track speed having covered the 13.6 miles in 24 minutes. With no other station stops until Trenton, it will continue on track 3 avoiding commuter trains stopping at platforms served by tracks 4 and 1. A set of New Jersey Transit Jersey Arrow MUs have stopped at the northbound platform at North Elizabeth in the distance. Although the track structure is modern, much of the infrastructure of Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor dates to the original Pennsylvania Railroad electrification project including the wayside Position Light Signals. Today, the inner express tracks are signaled for movement in both directions while the outer local tracks remain unidirectional. The catenary support structure and signals form a visual tunnel. After a Diesel Electric locomotive replaces Siemens City Sprinter #613 in Washington DC, #79 will continue on to Charlotte, North Carolina.

Unicorn Peak (10,823 ft) looms over Elizabeth Lake (9,507 ft), with snow still lingering in mid-summer – a rarity in the Yosemite high country. Thanks to the past winter's record snowfall, the Tuolumne Meadows Campground (and with it the trailhead) was still closed on the last day of July, so I had to hike in from the road. I was totally on my own up there, except for a ranger on horseback, who was surveying the trails and seeing how many fallen trees he'd need to have removed before he could finally open the trail to horse traffic.
Thanks very much for stopping by, and for your kind comments and favorites. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
