A heavy passenger train powered by General Electric E60MA No. 605 heads west (south) on the Northeast Corridor through Elizabeth, New Jersey, on May 21, 1993.
It's been a while since i last posted here due to lack of interest in photography and life getting in the way. But last week I was in London and had an afternoon travelling up and down the new Elizabeth Line taking photos of the various stations.

Low-tide and good light help show the beauty of the Cape Elizabeth coastline in Maine, October, 2021. While all were focused on the iconic Portland Head Light, I liked this look down the Atlantic coast to its south. The hues of these rocks drew my eye the entire time we were visiting coastal Maine.

A Canadian dime. We will start to see more of these in the coming months when our Canadian visitors begin arriving for another season.
Happy Macro Monday!
“An unhappy alternative is before you, Elizabeth. From this day you must be a stranger to one of your parents. Your mother will never see you again if you do not marry Mr. Collins, and I will never see you again if you do.”
― Jane Austen
The slow running Elizabeth River in Campbell Town is a lovely place to observe nature. Previously I have used infrared to capture something of the serenity of this place.

An Amfleet-equipped passenger train powered Amtrak AEM-7 electric locomotive No. 931 approaches the platforms of Elizabeth, New Jersey, headed west (south) on the Northeast Corridor on the afternoon of May 21, 1993.
The Elizabeth line on a surprisingly quiet day. This is the first shot in a short series from a little wander from back in November.
Thanks for looking 🙏😊

Amtrak #79 “The Carolinian” meets the first light of day speeding south along the tangent approaching Elizabeth, New Jersey. After leaving New York Penn Station at 07:25, crossing under the Hudson River and making a full station stop at Newark, it is now at full track speed having covered the 13.6 miles in 24 minutes. With no other station stops until Trenton, it will continue on track 3 avoiding commuter trains stopping at platforms served by tracks 4 and 1. A set of New Jersey Transit Jersey Arrow MUs have stopped at the northbound platform at North Elizabeth in the distance. Although the track structure is modern, much of the infrastructure of Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor dates to the original Pennsylvania Railroad electrification project including the wayside Position Light Signals. Today, the inner express tracks are signaled for movement in both directions while the outer local tracks remain unidirectional. The catenary support structure and signals form a visual tunnel. After a Diesel Electric locomotive replaces Siemens City Sprinter #613 in Washington DC, #79 will continue on to Charlotte, North Carolina.
After a mostly sleepless night - going to "bed" after blue hour, getting up at Midnight for one hour, sleeping until blue hour - I crawled out of our tent just before 6 am to catch some blue hour and sunrise photos on the north shore of Elizabeth lake in Glacier National Park. as the view to the valley was facing straight south I was hoping for an Alpenglow effect - the weather did not disappoint! In addition the lake was extremely calm providing a very nice reflection of the majestic surroundings. Now if only there were a few fluffy clouds... (they were there around midnight, preventing a good milky way sight).
This was maybe the coldest night of the whole trip with lows in the 30ies (°F, just above freezing) so I was quite happy to have my 3.5 seasons ultralightweight Mammut/Ajungilak sleeping bag with me. But waiting at the shore for 2.5 hours with no direct sunlight finally cooled me down a lot.
In the distance a nesting pair of ospreys could be seen sailing, hunting, diving.

This panoramic view shows the block between St John's Street (with the St John's Church in the red brick), and George Street above the Colonial Hotel. It was originally the site of the Launceston Church Grammar School.
The Elizabeth River rises below Lake Leake and flows generally west by north through the traditional lands of the Peenrymairmemener and Tyrrernotepanner Clans of the North Midlands Nation.[3] The palawa kani name for the river is pantukina layapinta,[4] the prefix pantukina referring to the country around modern day Campbell Town.[5] The river reaches its confluence with the Macquarie River west of Campbell Town.[6] The river was originally known by colonials in the first decade of the 19th century as Relief Creek, but was renamed by Governor Macquarie, for his wife, when he passed through in 1811.[7][8] The river descends 410 metres (1,350 ft) over its 60-kilometre (37 mi) course.[1] Wikipedia
