Reflecting on Elizabeth
Unicorn Peak (10,823 ft) looms over Elizabeth Lake (9,507 ft), with snow still lingering in mid-summer – a rarity in the Yosemite high country. Thanks to the past winter's record snowfall, the Tuolumne Meadows Campground (and with it the trailhead) was still closed on the last day of July, so I had to hike in from the road. I was totally on my own up there, except for a ranger on horseback, who was surveying the trails and seeing how many fallen trees he'd need to have removed before he could finally open the trail to horse traffic.
Thanks very much for stopping by, and for your kind comments and favorites. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
