This is an earthen-ware water container. Atop it is the steel container using which water is drawn out of the main container. Keeps water cool in summers. Found mostly in Indian rural areas.

Elixir d Anvers

a poster by Gerard Portielje, Belgium. 1906

We did a 7 hour round hike up and down the steepest cliffsides I've ever scrambled over to reach this fabulous waterfall - the three hour descent being in the full midday heat of the Arizona sun. Seriously thirsty work. Luckily we were able to top up our waterbottles at this fall, as it gushes down ice cold and pure. Laced with a few sprigs of wild mint picked near by - I have never tasted water quite so sweet and heavenly.

during a walk today, on one of this year`s finest spring days so far, I enjoyed the sun and realized once more again how periods of life are repeating. Nature is awakening: The birds are back and singing again, trees are bursting out, flowers are fragrant, a lot people love the outdoors...

Reflecting about this I saw this scene and thought that it fits very well: from left to the right grewing up trees and the elixir of life, water, without its existence no life could be possible on earth.

my experimentation with H2O continues, more comin up ( apologies if it gets(already has got ) too monotonous) :)

And a week flashes by - December always seems to come and go in sudden jolts, with the end of year approaching, the cold already here, and this year the Solstice wed to an early morning Lunar Eclipse (which I missed, as 3:00 a.m. found me happily wrapped in dreams). Let's pick up from where I left off ...

A couple of years back I ran across the Alpha Psi Ecdysia burlesque troupe, performing at the Slipper Room of a New Year's Eve. APE is the first school-sanctioned student burlesque company in America - well done, SUNY New Paltz.

The founding Producing Director of the company, Lucida Sans, suddenly finds herself graduating, which is one of those things that sometimes happens to people at college. While I know she'll be happy to be Out In The World, she's leaving a consuming project behind her, and so the company puts together a farewell show to wish her off in style.

Thus the nerdtastic Dungeons and Drag Queens (Rule 34 Burlesque) revue, which brings together the current members of A.P.E. and a few select alumni of the company. There are bits and references drawn from geekdom in all its glory, with appearances by Dobby the House Elf, by the Mario Brothers, by some sort of manga character that I didn't know who she was, by a buxom Indiana Jones, by J. Alfred Prufrock - different kind of geekery, perhaps, but hey - and many more. I make the trip up to New Paltz, where in addition to burlesque there is snow on the ground. Whee!

I last saw Miss Elixir doing a dance of whirling chains. Tonight, after feigning drunkenness at a party, she clambers up her silks and gives her newest aerial number a first whirl. It's a nimble, strong debut. I'm told she performs at The Box these days, in the City, and I'll have to make it over there some night to see.

Hello, dear friends! It's been quite some time since we last connected. I'm thrilled to share that I've successfully recovered my Flickr account and couldn't resist the chance to post something special. I'm not entirely sure who's still active here, but there's a tinge of nostalgia in the air.

By the way, I'd like to extend a warm invitation to join me on my Instagram journey @valmondd. Additionally, you can explore more of my recent work on my website www.victoralmendra.com. Your support means the world to me!

Let's reconnect and revive the vibrant community we once had on this platform. Wishing you all a fantastic year ahead! Cheers! 🌟

People have had ailments since forever, and there have always been cures available. Whether or not those medicines were effective (or even safe) is another matter.

I suspect these bottles were painted by overzealous amateur restorers after they were recovered from the sea.

In any case, it makes it easier to see that the contents of the bottle on the left, concocted in Rio de Janeiro, would cure tuberculosis, asthma, bronchitis and coughs. Impressive!

Could it be that all patients got was a stiff dose of codeine and alcohol?
