The lovely little Elf butterfly – Microtia elva - with its very distinctive colour pattern, is only found from Venezuela up to Mexico with the very occasional stray into the most southern parts of the USA. With a wingspan of only 1 – 1.5 inches (2.5 – 4 cm) and feeding only on flower nectar it prefers fields, hedgerows, scrubland and anywhere flowers, either wild or cultivated, are found. This one was seen near Bucerias, Mexico. Explore #272, 26 August 2015.

I like winter, but hubby is glad the days will now be getting longer! These iron elf candle holders are just about my favorite seasonal decoration, so they come out early (the day after Thanksgiving), and march across the mantle until their batteries die (usually in February). Have a good and safe week, everyone.
Hay especies que te inspiran distintos sentimientos, para mi el herrerillo común ( Cyanistes caeruleus), siempre representó un pequeño duende del bosque, azul y alegre
There are species that inspire you with different feelings, for me the Eurasian blue tit (Cyanistes caeruleus), always represented a little blue and cheerful forest elf

Take the B8043 from Inversanda along to Lochaline via Kilmalieu. You'll be lucky if you see an elf at all. You better concentrate hard. You don't want to fall off the road down into the sea. And you most definitely don't want to break down. Help could take a long time coming. Even by my new home of Acharacle standards the landscape down towards Lochaline is intimidatingly empty and a little scary. Brilliant if you want to be alone.

The popular Elf on the shelf is one of the themes of this beautiful Christmas tree of Hershey Gardens.
Did you know? The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition is a 2005 children's picture book, written by Carol Aebersold and her daughter Chanda Bell, and illustrated by Coë Steinwart. The book tells a Christmas-themed story, written in rhyme, that explains how Santa Claus knows who is naughty and nice. (Wikipedia)

A little story about a little Elf who's just fall asleep in the forest...or a Snow White with blond hair who didn't eat the apple but did fall asleep...
In the both cases, a little magic fly is about to wake up and warn them: monsters are coming!

Sarcoscypha austriaca - scarlet elf cups found from late winter through to early spring and a real favourite with me. These were found at a site in the Lee Valley (UK) and are an annual feature.
I was taking a Midnight stroll with a couple of Pixies in the Enchanted Forest when suddenly; I heard a beautiful siren song emanating from every direction. My first impression was a young, female Faery with long, blonde hair hanging down to her waist and wearing a beautiful pearl white gown. The Pixies laughed at me, as I stood there awestruck by the beautiful voice. They then told me about the old legend of the Siren. She was half human and half elf with a hunchback posture. The Elves left this little girl all alone into the deepest, deserted parts of the Enchanted Forest where she cannot find her way home. Fortunately enough, the little kind, loving fruit faeries and nature faeries left her fruits and nuts every morning while she was asleep.
As I resonate with the rhythm of her song, I am inspired in creating my rendition of the beautiful Siren as touches my soul and others. Her name is Pearleen

Before battle this Elfin Girl always finds time to visit the most sacred of places. At the Temple of Angremben she asks for protection and strength for all involved.

This Christmas elf was "guarding" the landing going to the 3rd floor of the shop we love to stop at on our way to Highland County. (the one with the best popcorn ever). It was about 3 1/2 feet to 4 feet tall and I think it's the stuff that gives Kids nightmares so it's kind of funny that Anita walked right by it and never noticed it! LOL Taken on last Sundays adventures. (haven't even had a chance to look at yesterdays photos yet!)
A miss understanding over a ball ended up with five stitches for Elf. She healed well and is ready for more adventures.

The world’s smallest raptor, the diminutive Elf Owl, lives in dry thorn forests, deserts, pine-oak forests, and riparian woodlands of the southern border of the United States and Mexico. Like many of the songbirds in these habitats, Elf Owls nest in old woodpecker holes and similar cavities, which provide relief from heat, shelter from rain, and protection from predators. At night, Elf Owls emerge to hunt insects and other small prey, the male giving puppylike calls that mark its small territory.
