Eleventh in a series of photos from Storm Eunice.

Thought I'd continue the series from Storm Eunice, as I still have a load of photos from that amazing day on the South Coast.

The cultural and social life of Bernalda flows in its historical center where the architecture and the places of greatest interest of the city are concentrated.

The ancient village in fact extends from the Aragonese castle, which is also home to the Pinacoteca, the mother church and Piazza San Bernardino, up to Piazza Plebiscito, along Corso Umberto I, the core of the life of the Bernese. Most probably the castle was built by the Normans in the eleventh century, later restored by the Aragonese, during the period of their domination, which they have expanded and fortified.

The manor is characterized by a thin and square tower, certainly older than the other round bastions, while the façade overlooking the mother church is the result of a subsequent reconstruction. Walking along Corso Umberto I, between the stately buildings, right in front of Palazzo Fischetti, adjacent Piazza Plebiscito, you can admire a historic 19th century mansion, Palazzo Margherita owned by the Italian-American director Francis Ford Coppola, who bought and transformed the structure in a 5 Star Resort. Furnished with different styles: classic Italian, Moroccan and Baroque, the structure has eight rooms, each of which is dedicated to a famous character of the Coppola family.

A Maguari Stork (Ciconia maguari) in Parque Nacional Iberá, Corrientes Provence, Argentina.

During our last evening in Iberá, a front blew in, bringing with it strong winds and rain. The next morning as we drove out through the national park, the vegetation in the grasslands was still wet.

We spotted this Maguari Stork in a wetland off the road. It was just finishing swallowing what looked like a freshwater eel. This is one of three stork species found in the area, and I was hoping to photograph one. Luckily I got my chance in the eleventh hour as it slowly made its way from the brush and crossed the road in front of us, allowing me to capture this portrait.

The song "Psycho Killer" by Talking Heads runs through my head when I look at this image. The stork looks somewhat deranged, with its plumage ruffled by the weather. It's bladelike bill adds to the impression, with the natural red coloration near its tip appearing like a blood stain, and actual drops of blood visible above it. What a bird - a phrase that came to mind often during this trip.

Michigan City, that is. The Eleventh Street of old.

Eleventh picture of the series Delta Dreams.

(For this time, the sun was out and produced many more clouds and light reflections on the water.

What do you think about this shot, with the two boats from the far distance? I'd love to hear your opinions.

My dreamed sunrise in the Delta of the river Ebro -Tarragona-.

The previous day, a local man explained to me a perfect location for enjoy the photograph of this beautiful land.

I consulted the parameters that night and everything was correct to travel there.

The truth is that I was impressed to get to that place, I put on my waders running to get me asap and do not lose the time.

The sun had not yet risen, the water reached my waist, good temperature, soft wind, a lot of clouds and fog surrounding the horizon, made the conditions were the best.

Many photos I've seen of this place is that in photoshop blur the horizon line with the clone tool, but there was fog and with long exposure, completely erased.

It seemed that I was doing a photo shoot in the same heaven.

I think for many more times to return to this place, I can never find anything so perfect.

This is the photo shoot I most enjoyed in recent years, have a set of at least seven impressive images.

On the technical side, say that I only used a neutral gradient three steps filter.

I hope you like it. Have a nice Monday. :)

Eleventh image in this series featuring a single bird...

I captured this Coot while it was swimming alone in the late afternoon sunlight. They are unique black birds with a white bill.

A bit smaller than mallards, they are chicken-like in their appearance :)

Enjoy!

View On White

Every eleventh day of the bright and dark fortnight of the lunar month we fast from grains. That's twice a month :-). It is called Ekadasi. The idea is to minimize bodily agitations and concentrate on spiritual activities. In cooking we use a lot of seeds, nuts, veggies and "grainless grains" like buckwheat. Ekadasi is an epitome of simplicity.

The IAC Building, InterActiveCorp's headquarters located at 555 West 18th Street on the northeast corner of Eleventh Avenue in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City, is a Frank Gehry-designed building that was completed in 2007. The building was Gehry's first in New York and, as of 2007, featured the world's largest high definition screen in its lobby.

Reminiscent of several other Gehry designs, the building appears to consist of two major levels: a large base of twisted tower-sections packed together like the cells of a bee hive, with a second bundle of lesser diameter sitting on top of the first. The cell units have the appearance of sails skinned over the skeleton of the building. The full-height windows fade from clear to white on the top and bottom edges of each story. The overall impression is of two very tall stories, which belies its actual 10-story structure. Vanity Fair commented that the building is perhaps one of the world's most attractive office buildings. Barry Diller, the head of IAC who was intimately involved with the project, mandated that the facade be covered in smooth glass rather than wrinkling titanium, as Gehry had originally planned. Diller said he chose Gehry to design the building because he wanted a space where workers "could collaborate and be in an open atmosphere" which he did not think could be done as easily in a typical boxy building. To the left corner in the back ground is the 100 Eleventh Avenue Condominium, which is a 23-story residential tower at the intersection of 19th Street and the West Side Highway in the borough of Manhattan, New York City, New York. The building is described as “a vision machine” by the architect Jean Nouvel. It has one of the most technologically advanced curtain wall systems in New York City.

These light trails were made from a Hong Kong tram. These double decker trams should be famous. I am very much so used to trams living in central Europe but I was not ready to see these little trams. They gave me a good giggle.

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to look at my work.

This is my tenth and eleventh figure in my second 10 Day Figure series for the first building challenge in the Minifigs group. This challenge is to create 10 Star Wars themed figs.

Droid Left: When thinking about what droid I wanted to do for the series, I had about 20 ideas, one of the was to remake my Droid Behemoth. After about 19 failures, I finally got this design going. I'm pretty sad I couldn't find my printed Droid parts though... :(

Droid Right: After remembering IG-88 and the awesome rendition by Hopes009, I decided to make another droid. The only real challenge with Slim was making the legs, which I finally found a very clever solution to (but is stupidly hidden by the gun... *sigh*).

Together: Once I had the two of them together I noticed a few things. A) The Droid on the right was pretty blocky and ha a very plated armor feel to him, in stark contrast to the spindly aspects of the other. B) I was trying to decide which of them to post, but the second I set the two of them down together, it donned upon me that they were the perfect pair. C) Then I had to name them, and sitting and thinking upon that for about a minute, I thought of The Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the names of the bombs "Fat Man" and Little Boy." Originally I thought it was "Fatboy" and "Slim" but after doing the research about 5 seconds ago and realizing it wasn't... I liked mine better anyway. ;p

Any way... I'm stoked that the series is done now, and hopefully you've enjoyed it. :)

(I'll post a group shot soon)

Samtavisi is an eleventh-century Georgian Orthodox cathedral in eastern Georgia, in the region of Shida Kartli, some 45km from the nation’s capital Tbilisi. The cathedral is now one of the centers of the Eparchy of Samtavisi and Gori of the Georgian Orthodox Church.

The cathedral is located on the left bank of the Lekhura River, some 11km of the town of Kaspi. According to a Georgian tradition, the first monastery on this place was founded by the Assyrian missionary Isidore in 572 and later rebuilt in the 10th century. Neither of these buildings has survived however. The earliest extant structures date to the eleventh century, the main edifice being built in 1030 as revealed by a now lost stone inscription. The cathedral was built by a local bishop and a skilful architect Hilarion who also authored the nearby church of Ashuriani. Heavily damaged by a series of earthquakes, the Cathedral was partially reconstructed in the 15th and 19th centuries. The masterly decorated eastern facade is the only surviving original structure.

The Samtavisi Cathedral is a rectangular 4-piered cruciform domed church. It illustrates a Georgian interpretation of the cross-in-square form which set an example for many churches built in the heyday of medieval Georgia. The exterior is distinguished by the liberal use of ornamental blind arcading. The apses do not project, but their internal position is marked by deep recesses in the wall. In contrast to earlier Georgian churches, the drum of the dome is taller surmounted by a conical roof. Artistically, the most rounded portion of the church is its five-arched eastern facade, dominated by the two niches and enlivened by a bold ornate cross motif.

Beyond the main church, the Samtavisi complex includes a badly damaged two-storied bishop’s residence, a small church (5.8х3.2m), and a three-storied belltower (5.7х7.3m) attached to the 3-5m high fence made of stone and brick. All these structures date to the 17th-18th centuries.

Twilight from the eleventh floor, looking east as the lights were coming on in the city. I love the broken light-lines as the camera captured blinkers in use as cars turned corners. Really cool in the larger sizes!

... This morning while taking this picture, I was not thinking of today's date... It wasn't till after I posted it. That I realized it was the 15th anniversary of the attack that changed so many lives... If pushed, I am sure that some kind of connection can be made with this picture, and that horrible day.... Perhaps.. Life follows death... Or Life goes on... To me... It just means what I was doing on the morning of September Eleventh, Fifteen Years Later.... God Bless Those Unexpecting Souls

..you see the big picture

Tomorrow is Twelfth Night, officially the end of Christmas when the decorations are traditionally taken down. But since that falls on a Monday this year and my husband (bless him) didn't want to leave the task to me, ours have been put away today, for another year. The place looks a little bare now. If I'm honest, though, it's nice to get back to normality!
