Sunset, in Lititz, Pennsylvania on October 15, 2012, was a joy to behold. No matter how I tried to get around it, the electrical towers were central in my view. I finally decided to just go with it. It was an interesting reminder of the method by which we get electricity in our homes.
This is what the power lines looked like right by my house after a giant explosion rang through them. An explosion, then a huge fireball engulfed the transformers. All three red lights started blinking, and the storm still rages on.
Major city of Cap Haitian and surrounding villages (like Acul du Nord) have a nightmare of an electrical grid. Rolling blackouts are routine. A neighborhood might have electricity for an hour an evening...if that. We spent most of our evenings in the dark.

Yes, there is a danger of electrical "arching" -- meaning if the right conditions exist, a killer bolt can jump you!

We should protect our grid from EMPs by using Faraday
Cages. It's relatively cheap to do.

Took a weird route and got stuck waiting for a train to cross the tracks. It was a really nice day, though, and I wasn't in any hurry, so I took some pictures of the stopped train and also this pylon and generally just sort of relaxed.
