Regardless of who wins, an election should be a time for optimism and fresh approaches. -Unknown

Have a blessed day!🙋‍♀️

Enjoying sunrise at Falls Lake on our Election day was a beautiful break from noise except the birds welcoming the rising sun. I hope you find your beautiful quiet place this weekend my friends! ~Sam

Managed to catch the tail end of this beautiful sunrise this morning before it began to rain. This makes me hopeful for a positive election result. Cottage Lake, Woodinville, WA

Located in Somerset House, London, this grand rotunda stairway rises up through the building to the Navy Board Rooms.

The present five storey stair is a replica of what was there up until the original suffered significant damage in The Blitz during World War II. It was rebuilt in the early 1950s using the original plans

The architecturally interesting stair, which is located in the South Wing, was originally built in the late 18th century to the designs of Sir William Chambers with each flight a different configuration to the one underneath (the design was apparently made to reflect something of the stairs on ships).

It was initially known as the Navy Stair but renamed the Nelson Stair, ostensibly in honour of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson.

I think that those minifigures from minifigs.me are really amazing. And I love the accessories too... definitely brilliant!

Get out and vote, people!

We did our civic duty. We voted and headed back home on a snowy Provincial election day here in Ontario.

Found on my late morning walk...as we are heading towards Election Day here in the United States of America,

A new dawn breaks after the early morning announcment that the ruling Conservative Party has lost - and lost badly - in thre General Election the day before

Election day on Monday and a lot of the issues are evoked in this picture: Covid, healthcare, housing and the environment. Actually, it's just a person fishing on the Fraser River, but the little Canadian flag got my mind working. :)

Our polling place has been at a nearby Baptist church since we've lived here. As Kate and I pulled into the parking lot, we came upon this sign. It's the first time we've seen it. Evidently someone felt that it was a good idea. I agree. It's hilarious. But I have questions.

I am a NASTY WOMAN because I believe in love, acceptance, equality, kindness, respect and the POWER of my voice!

I found a print of this image last night, an underexposed print, and I realized that with my recent advent of negative scanning (as opposed to scanning prints) that it might turn into something interesting. I've probably been through this particular set of prints three times now, and each time I find something that catches my eye - and didn't before.

This is a pinhole image that I took from the top of Eagle Falls, which overlooks Lake Tahoe. While we weren't fortunate enough for any interesting clouds that morning, I was still amazed at the goldeness of it all. I think pinhole did a good job of capturing that light and motion.

As for the title, I am excited tonight. I am perhaps not as blindly optimistic as the title suggests, but I am optimistic nevertheless. Four years ago I was depressingly discouraged at America's decision. Today I am proud of us. I am also a bit nervous in wondering what the next few years will be, because I believe that my/our decision will bring about the greatest amount of change that would have been possible. And change, even when desperately needed, can be scary. But as I've heard multiple times today - there is nothing to fear but fear itself. I am ready for this. I think America is ready for this. Certainly, the rest of the world is ready for America to be ready for this. ;-) And I am proud.

I am also very happy to be done listening to political ads. Ha.

Happy Election Day, all. Thanks for voting.

If you live in the U.S. and are eligible to vote, today would be an excellent day to do it - whether you got your rights under the original Constitution (white men), the 15th amendment (black men), or the 19th amendment (all women). The 24th amendment means we don't have to pay a poll tax, and if you're 18, you can thank the 26th amendment for not making you wait till 2012.

Tomorrow, on the other hand, would not be a good day to vote.
